Roars from a rough male voice, mixed with curses and explosions, made one want to stick a head out and see what was happening outside.
Ye Xingling put down the bomb she had already disarmed and silently approached the nearby window. Using the wall’s shadow, she looked toward the direction of the sound.
Outside the nearby playground, a young man with flames covering both hands was swinging his fists, desperately striking at three terrorists wearing black hoods surrounding him. Those three seemed afraid of his fists and scattered, dodging his attacks.
When he threw a punch and lost his balance, the three terrorists seized the opportunity and rushed at him together, ignoring the oncoming flames, using their bodies to restrain the boy so he couldn’t keep swinging.
Without a doubt, the young man using Blazing Fist was a Superpower User, and his strength was only at the Light-Containing Level. The combined drain of stamina and Magic Power quickly put him at a disadvantage against these terrorists, who seemed to have some experience and refused to fight him head-on.
At this distance… her magic would be hard to aim, and might even hit that Superpower User boy. Thinking this, Ye Xingling abandoned the idea of opening the window to provide magical support.
‘Should I help?’
Ye Xingling was caught in a dilemma.
Driven by the pure justice of a Magical Girl, she wanted to help that boy. But right now, only she could handle these bombs. If she didn’t clean out all the timed bombs placed in the cafeteria, her conscience would torment her…
Just as she hesitated, unsure what to do, the school’s broadcast suddenly rang out.
“Ignorant and foolish classmates… oh, no, little mice, I’ve already seen your figures in the surveillance room, you know?”
A sarcastic male voice came through the broadcast.
Surveillance?!
Ye Xingling swept her eyes across the cafeteria ceiling and, sure enough, spotted two surveillance cameras. But to her relief, one camera faced the stairwell, and the other faced the food counter; neither seemed to have captured her figure.
After a moment’s hesitation, Ye Xingling waved her hand and released two sizable ice cones. They traced an arc through the air and shattered the two cameras.
“Oh? So there’s a relatively clever fish that slipped the net… little one on the second floor of the cafeteria. Even I didn’t spot you. You hid well, but unfortunately, once my people finish off that kid outside the playground, they’ll come for you. Until then, enjoy your hide-and-seek skills, hahahaha!”
The terrorist on the other end of the surveillance quickly responded, his words dripping with arrogance. Such a tone made it hard not to imagine his ugly face.
“How about… you go down and help that poor kid? Superpower, what a good thing, hahaha! Let me show you his miserable state!”
As he spoke, the internal broadcast TV hanging in the cafeteria suddenly lit up. It was clearly the perspective of a surveillance camera on a streetlight. The view panned, and soon the scene of the boy with flames on his hands fighting three terrorists appeared before her.
In her memory, this screen and most of the large screens on campus played the same content. If students were in the teaching building, they would probably see this picture just by lifting their heads.
Ye Xingling bit her pink lip gently. Her impression of this guy had sunk to the absolute worst, even to the point of nausea.
The Magical Girl took a deep breath, turned around, and used her knowledge of the second floor layout’s camera positions to easily step through the blind spots and destroy the two cameras on the third floor. At the same time, she saw the bomb placed next to the load-bearing pillar, and—
the boy struggling to hold on.
“Ah, still putting up a stubborn resistance. What a precious spirit. But it’s completely useless.”
The voice on the broadcast taunted in a flamboyant tone.
Ye Xingling steadied herself, walked to the backpack containing the timed bomb, unzipped it, placed her hand on the pitch-black tube, felt the Magic Circuit inside, and began to neutralize this timed bomb’s power.
‘Can’t waste the time he bought me. Do what I can…’
“The gap is really wide, don’t you think, my dear audience? None of you are foolish enough to be like him and think he can save you, are you?”
The irritating voice on the broadcast made Ye Xingling feel unsettled. She almost accidentally damaged the Magic Circuit—who knows if breaking it would cause an immediate explosion… Startled, her heart shuddered, and she quickly stabilized her Magic Power output.
‘A little faster… should be okay, right?’
“Haha! Can’t do it anymore, can you? Anyone else want to challenge? If not, they’re going to catch the little mouse in the cafeteria!”
‘Faster, even faster… Later, I’m definitely smashing that bastard’s dog head!’
“Oh, I got too carried away having fun. I forgot to explain the situation to you lambs awaiting slaughter. Don’t expect the Human Alliance to spare any hands to save you now. In Satellite City, we selected no fewer than eighty locations, scattered across areas where citizens have gathered due to the Comprehensive Census at this time. Unfortunately, you’re one of them.”
“Because I gave the order a little late, the Human Alliance’s available combat forces have already been fully deployed. They can only shelve what’s happening here for now.”
“In other words… no matter how I toy with you ignorant fools now, no one will disturb me. Do you understand?”
“If anyone still wants to resist, step right up. I’ve placed enough bombs all over this school to level it to the ground. In thirty minutes, you’ll be flying to the sky. If you have any last words, say them to the people around you. Nothing will remain anyway, haha!”
“Smile a bit more! Why is everyone so unhappy?”
In the dim and now somewhat chilly cafeteria, a flash of ice-blue light flickered. The Magical Girl standing by the load-bearing pillar opened her eyes, her beautiful gaze filled with indignation.
The Magic Power around her seemed to boil along with her mood, turning into wisps of cold air that swirled around her. An icy aura instantly filled the entire dining hall.
“You’re all a bunch of idiots spoiled by the Human Alliance—huh?!”
Amid the shock from the voice on the broadcast and countless pairs of despairing eyes staring at the screen, just as the three terrorists were about to subdue the boy covered in bruises, a cold gleam appeared behind one of them…
An ice-blue Magical Girl appeared behind him. Her pink fist, clad in a lace glove, smashed fiercely into the face of the nearest terrorist!
