“Hoo~ Of course it’s settled. I even used my trump card Artifact, so dealing with these Devils was a piece of cake.”
Su Lihua walked over to Ling Xiaoyou, wanting to plop down on the ground, but seeing the floor soaked with water, she hesitated for a moment and gave up on the idea.
“Since things are settled here, we should go help Bai Shuanglian too.”
Ling Xiaoyou nodded her little head, grabbed Su Lihua, who was looking for a spot to rest, and spoke with a slightly exasperated look in her eyes.
“Are you planning to just ignore Bai Shuanglian?”
“…Not exactly, but I’ve got no Spirit Power left…”
Su Lihua spread her hands helplessly.
“No Spirit Power?”
Ling Xiaoyou pinched her smooth little chin and studied Su Lihua, raising an eyebrow.
“I might have a way, but…”
“But?”
Su Lihua tilted her head, looking curiously at Ling Xiaoyou.
A mischievous smile curled on Ling Xiaoyou’s lips, sending a chill down Su Lihua’s spine.
She lifted her small hand and waved it, and a Water Orb half her own size appeared beside her.
“You’ll have to endure a little. My Spirit Water Orb is a bit big, but it’ll restore a third of your Spirit Power, so don’t worry.”
“Ahaha, um…I think my Spirit Power’s recovered already! No need for your help!”
Su Lihua stared at the huge orb of water, fighting hard not to imagine how Ling Xiaoyou planned to use it for recovery.
Worried Ling Xiaoyou might not believe her, she hurriedly pulled several Alchemy Pills from her Space Ring, didn’t bother checking what they were, and swallowed them all at once.
In an instant, Ling Xiaoyou felt Su Lihua’s previously weak aura become lively again—the pills must have worked.
“So you have recovery-type Alchemy Pills. Then why did you say you had no Spirit Power?”
Ling Xiaoyou gave Su Lihua a strange look, puzzled.
“Ahaha, well, about that…”
Su Lihua scratched her head awkwardly.
She couldn’t exactly admit that she’d said it as an excuse to avoid fighting a Yin General level Devil, could she?
Wouldn’t that just mean she was scared of Devils?
No way!
Among Spirits, hating Devils is Political Correctness!
She didn’t want rumors of her cowardice spreading and making her a laughingstock!
“Ahem, don’t sweat the small details!”
Su Lihua coughed, quickly changing the subject.
“Bai Shuanglian still needs our help! Let’s hurry!”
“Mm.”
Ling Xiaoyou nodded her little head, her concern for Bai Shuanglian outweighing her curiosity for the moment.
***
Finding Bai Shuanglian wasn’t difficult.
With the battle over there being so fierce, it was hard not to notice.
Ling Xiaoyou led Su Lihua to the second floor of a ruined building that hadn’t collapsed yet, and the two of them lay flat, watching the fight in the distance.
They saw Bai Shuanglian send a Devil Bishop flying with a kick.
He had somehow turned into a muscle-bound giant with his shirt torn, clutching a blood-red book half his size.
Immediately after, her long sword swung, slashing hundreds of savage wounds across the Devil Bishop’s body in an instant.
But despite the sharp sword strikes and the pain, the Devil Bishop laughed maniacally instead of getting angry.
He looked utterly arrogant.
“Ha ha ha, save your strength, Exorcist. I already told you—my Lord’s blessing is invincible! No matter how much damage you do, it won’t work!”
He didn’t expect to shake this Exorcist with words.
The woman was like an emotionless block of ice—no matter what he said, her only response was relentless swordplay and powerful magic.
Bai Shuanglian’s expression didn’t change at the Devil Bishop’s words.
With a flick of her wrist, a flash of white sword light swept across the Devil Bishop’s neck, severing his head from his body in one stroke.
“Useless! Useless!”
The falling head was caught by the Devil Bishop’s muscular arm, which promptly hurled it at Bai Shuanglian.
At the same time, the massive book, big as a door, swung toward her at a speed defying its size.
Bai Shuanglian didn’t panic.
She lifted a leg and kicked the flying head aside, following up with a blast of Yang Flame several times hotter than before.
Then she deftly dodged the swinging book, then suddenly accelerated, appearing before the Devil Bishop in a flash.
Her long sword blazed with golden Yang Flame as it stabbed straight into the Devil’s heart.
But just as the Devil Bishop had claimed, Bai Shuanglian’s attack had little effect.
The Devil didn’t even flinch.
A moment later, the book came swinging at her again.
In a split second, Bai Shuanglian pulled her sword free from the Devil’s chest and retreated, barely dodging the attack.
“I told you—your attacks are useless against me.”
There was a grotesque squirming at the Devil Bishop’s neck.
In the next moment, the torn flesh began to grow and reform, and the head that should have been burned away by Bai Shuanglian’s Yang Flame regenerated completely.
The Devil Bishop grinned menacingly at her.
Bai Shuanglian ignored him.
She seemed to have noticed something and glanced to the side.
A faint smile tugged at her lips, but it quickly vanished before the Devil noticed.
Then she swung her sword and attacked the Devil again, their battle resuming.
***
Maybe it was because she’d been anxiously watching Bai Shuanglian the whole time, or maybe it was some kind of unspoken connection between them, but Ling Xiaoyou noticed the fleeting smile too.
She immediately understood that Bai Shuanglian had sensed their arrival.
In that case, they could help her now without worrying about interfering.
Ling Xiaoyou turned to the prone Su Lihua.
“Can you still use your Artifact?”
“Eh? I can, but…”
Su Lihua hesitated.
“I can’t control it very well. If I use it to help Bai Shuanglian, it might affect her too.”
“It’s fine. Bai Shuanglian will coordinate with us. You just need to activate the Artifact and unleash its strongest attack.”
Ling Xiaoyou explained, not intending to clear up Su Lihua’s doubts any further—this wasn’t the time.
She looked toward the battlefield among the ruins.
The fight was at its peak.
Neither side was gaining the upper hand.
Bai Shuanglian dodged the Devil’s attacks with agility, while the Devil relied on terrifying regeneration to withstand her strikes.
“Then let me cool things down a bit!”
Ling Xiaoyou’s lips curled up.
With a wave of her small hand, a Cloud even larger than before materialized above them, unleashing a Rainstorm over the two combatants!
