So much has happened lately, it’s overwhelming.
Chang Fei doesn’t even know how to cope.
First, he was hit by a meteor—or rather, a shooting star—because of a mistaken wish, turning him into a Matchmaker God.
Then he ran into the last person he wanted to see: his scumbag father.
And the man didn’t even recognize him.
Their father-son reunion was like strangers making a deal, which Chang Fei found laughable.
But that’s not the point.
The real issue is that something’s wrong with the Matchmaker booklet’s system.
It somehow tied him emotionally to his first target as a Matchmaker God!
There’s even a red string on his pinky!
Because of this, Chang Fei’s face has practically turned black.
When he gets too close to Leng Yiqing, he can’t control his emotions.
For someone like Chang Fei, who’s usually—well, fairly responsible—this is a huge deal.
Especially now, after barely escaping his scumbag father’s goons, he’s been pulled by the red string to the city center.
He’s gotten used to it and doesn’t mind too much, but…
Seeing the scene before him, Chang Fei’s mouth twitched, and the water bottle in his hand fell to the ground.
In his eyes, a vivid red string swirled in the air, forming a heart shape and bursting with fireworks.
Others probably can’t see it.
But to everyone else, it’s a lovely young couple embracing.
Their glances scream “youth is wonderful,” “young love,” or “ah, to be young.”
Yet this enviable pair shattered Chang Fei’s heart.
Why? Because the girl in the couple is Leng Yiqing, his self-proclaimed future girlfriend.
Right now, Leng Yiqing is tightly held by a boy a year or two older, her face buried in his chest, looking blissfully happy.
It makes Chang Fei insanely jealous.
Sob… he wants to hold her too… so envious!
But soon, envy turns to despair.
Even without checking the Matchmaker booklet, he can tell the boy holding her is Leng Xingliang, the second son of the Leng family!
The heart above them is blooming vibrantly—Leng Xingliang and Leng Yiqing’s bond must have hit 100%.
He was distracted for a moment, and someone else swooped in.
Dragging his feet, Chang Fei turned, gazing at the sky at a 45-degree angle.
“I’m heartbroken…”
“Congratulations, achieved [Heartbroken Matchmaker] milestone, inner essence +20.”
“Ding dong~ Congratulations on completing milestone, received Universal Matchmaker Scissors, capable of cutting any red string. If the bond between the string’s targets is too strong, cutting may fail and result in punishment. Choose targets carefully.”
“Ding dong~ Matchmaker booklet upgrade complete. Please select disguise form: 1. Phone; 2. Learning device; 3. Tablet; 4. Watch; 5. Diary; 6. Fountain pen; 7. Ballpoint pen; 8. Pencil; 9. Crayon; 10. Right hand.”
“Right hand? What’s with right hand?! A prosthetic? Why isn’t there a normal wristband or ring?!” Chang Fei’s eyes widened.
He hadn’t even processed the legendary scissors when the booklet’s upgrade prompt startled him, nearly making him yell.
The booklet continued its “friendly reminder”: “Do you confirm the right-hand selection?”
“No, just give me a phone!” Chang Fei’s mouth twitched.
Who knew if picking “right hand” meant chopping off his hand to replace it with the booklet?
No way he’d risk that!
“Confirmed right-hand selection. Thank you.” Was the booklet messing with him?
“What the heck! Why did it pick right hand?!”
Sensing trouble, Chang Fei tossed the booklet and ran.
But a beam of light chased him, enveloping his right hand, making it glow.
A passerby gaped, exclaiming, “My god… who’s this?! A golden right hand, so masterful? How’d they do it? How desperate do you have to be to train a golden right hand like that?!”
The passerby, catching sight of the glowing hand, chased after him in a frenzy.
Chang Fei felt like cursing the heavens.
When you’re unlucky, even a simple choice costs you a hand.
How many innocent new Matchmaker Gods had this system screwed over?
He didn’t dare imagine.
Dashing into an empty alley, he finally checked his right hand.
True to the booklet’s flair, it was ostentatious enough to make his teeth itch.
The upgraded booklet had transformed into… a golden fingerless gauntlet.
So cringe, yet so dazzling!
“You scared the heck out of me… it’s just a gauntlet!” Chang Fei cursed aloud, seeing what was on his hand.
“Matchmaker Right Hand. Exclusively crafted by the Matchmaker, one-of-a-kind. Please cherish it.” The booklet silently displayed a description.
Chang Fei wordlessly clutched his forehead, sighing deeply.
Meanwhile, Leng Yiqing felt like she couldn’t breathe.
This so-called fiancé of the original Leng Yiqing was intense.
Just a casual chat, and he got so excited he pulled her into a tight embrace.
For a moment, Chang Fei’s smile flashed in her mind.
He… wasn’t like her.
He said he was a god-like being, a peculiar person—maybe a monk or a nun.
Yet Leng Yiqing couldn’t stop thinking about that “girl.”
She was annoyed at herself for thinking of a girl while being hugged by a boy—and not just any girl, a god, a nun, her savior who gave her a second life!
That appearance wasn’t even their true form!
But still…
Lost in thought, she felt suffocated and pushed the boy away.
Just then, she saw that familiar “girl” figure turn and run from her sight!
Leng Yiqing’s heart sank.
Was that her savior?
Did they see her with another boy?
Why did they run?

essencesNo, no… would a god like a mortal? Or did they think I’m fickle and refuse to help me reconcile with Lezheng Chu? Or maybe they found me flighty and ran off in disgust?essences

The more she thought, the more anxious she became, wanting to chase after Chang Fei.
But her hand was grabbed.
The boy looked at her with pained, sorrowful eyes.
Leng Yiqing’s impulse to slap him softened.
No matter what, he loved the original owner of this body.
Things could never be the same—the body’s original owner was gone, and so was the girl he loved.
He was just a victim.
Sighing, she pulled her hand free, lowered her eyes, and said softly, “Sorry… I don’t like you. I like someone else…”
She didn’t need to look up to feel the pain in his gaze.
His large hands suddenly gripped her shoulders, as if to meld her into him.
His trembling voice brushed like a feather: “You… like someone else?”
Leng Yiqing nodded slightly.
“Who… is it?” He gritted his teeth, his grip tightening unconsciously.
Leng Yiqing frowned.
Who?
Did she really like someone?
She wasn’t sure.
Lezheng Chu always tried to please her but never said he liked her.
Her savior was kind, even saving her life, though it might just be duty.
Yet that calm, untarnished figure smiled at her, as if all the world’s beauty lay in that moment.
But… was that love?
She couldn’t deny she liked Lezheng Chu’s attention—it made her heart flutter.
But she preferred being quietly by her savior’s side, even doing nothing, just chatting or going hungry.
As long as she could be near them, forever might be enough…

Shang Zhi’s note:
The plot is finally starting to connect with later content.
I haven’t been in love, but I’ll treat the characters’ emotions seriously, carefully considering their thoughts.
The pace may be slow, so please don’t get upset. Thanks!
