“What? How↗ is↘ this↗ pos↘sible↘?”
Wu Jing stared at Lin Jiaxin, who wasn’t slowing down but speeding up instead, his face a mask of shock.
He couldn’t understand it. A person who had clearly reached their physical limit—why hadn’t she collapsed yet?
And the others, who had long since stopped paying attention to Lin Jiaxin, instinctively followed Wu Jing’s gaze when they heard his shout.
Then they saw that stubborn, lip-service diva Lin Jiaxin, eyes squeezed shut, wildly shaking her head, her ponytail spinning behind her like a helicopter rotor.
With just a few steps left, she was about to catch up to them!
“Wasn’t she about to collapse just now?”
“How↗ is↘ this↗ pos↘sible↘?!”
Someone even unconsciously echoed Wu Jing’s astonishment.
Could it be… this chick wasn’t entirely bluffing?
Was there actually some real skill in her?
Sure, Lin Jiaxin was still many laps behind them.
But carrying twenty kilograms of weight and lasting this long—anyone could tell that someone with that kind of stamina was no ordinary pushover.
Realizing this, the group was filled with newfound respect, and their gazes toward her shifted.
Her performance at that moment had completely won them over.
“Uh… where’d she go?”
Just then, since they needed to make a turn, one classmate glanced back at the track. And in that single moment of hesitation, when they looked forward again, Lin Jiaxin’s shadow was nowhere to be seen.
Could it be… in just that brief instant, she had already overtaken them?!
The same thought struck everyone simultaneously. They quickly turned their heads to look ahead.
“Holy crap, incredible!”
“She actually caught up? That’s insane!!”
Sure enough, Lin Jiaxin was now running ahead, her movements jerky and her head still shaking wildly, leading the pack!
“I get the logic…”
“But… why is she running with her head shaking?”
Someone blurted out the obvious question.
From a distance, it hadn’t seemed odd.
But up close, the scene was downright eerie!
Her awkward running style looked just like a zombie from some movie.
Her ponytail bobbed and spun along with her head.
“Probably just how strong people are.”
They unanimously agreed—this was a special technique for the strong.
No one noticed that Lin Jiaxin’s eyes were closed, and there was even a faint trace of white foam at the corner of her mouth…
“Come on, everyone, give it your all! We’re running empty-handed—we can’t let her actually lap us!”
“Yeah, I don’t want to be mocked by her again!”
“I’m a real man, damn it!!!”
They seemed motivated, shouting encouragement to each other, roaring, and picking up their pace, surging forward.
As if they had completely forgotten that they were almost done with their twenty kilometers, while Lin Jiaxin hadn’t even reached half that distance yet!
And then…
They watched as Lin Jiaxin, sprinting ahead, reached the next corner. She didn’t slow down. She didn’t change direction.
She just slammed straight into the stainless steel lamppost at the edge of the sports field, producing a crisp sound:
“duang ————”
“!!!”
At that, the group forgot all about running and rushed over to check on her.
After all, they were classmates, with no deep grudges.
Plus, Lin Jiaxin’s rallying effort before exhaustion was genuinely inspiring, so their attitude toward her had improved.
At least it wasn’t all disdain anymore.
…
“This…”
But as soon as they surged forward, they all stopped in unison, silent, exchanging awkward glances.
Because they witnessed a scene they would never forget…
The Lin Jiaxin who had just hit the pole was now lying on the ground in a folded position no human should be able to achieve.
One arm was pinned under her stomach, with only half a hand showing.
Her other arm was twisted backward, centered on her back, palm facing the sky.
Her fingers curled unconsciously, as if grasping at something invisible behind her.
Half of Lin Jiaxin’s face was pressed flat against the ground, the only visible part being the other profile.
Her mouth was squished into a pout, her face covered in dust and plastic pellets.
White foam still trickled from the corner of her lips. Her eyes were shut tight. Her breathing was steady. A red welt was rising on her forehead.
But the most ridiculous part was her legs.
Her left leg was stretched straight. Her right leg was bent at an odd angle, resting on her left leg. Her body formed the shape of a “爿” character.

…
The crisp sound of “duang ————” seemed to still echo in the air.
The lamppost: vroom vroom vroom vroom.
The crowd: …
“Pfft… cough cough cough ————”
Someone couldn’t hold it in—they let out a snort, nearly laughing out loud.
But they quickly realized it wasn’t the right time, furiously biting their lips, using pain to suppress the smile.
“Pfft…”
“HAHAHAHAHA!”
“Oh my god, this is legendary, haha!”
Laughter is contagious. Once one person broke, everyone broke.
Some slapped their thighs laughing. Others clutched their stomachs, crouching on the ground, unable to stand.
There were those who couldn’t straighten their backs from laughing and had to lean on a lamppost.
—But not the one Lin Jiaxin had headbutted.
That one was still vrooming…
“Backhand Fall? How did she manage that?”
“So that’s a Backhand Fall? I’ve never seen anyone fall like that in my life… pfft haha!”
“Cough… Everyone, stop laughing for now. Let’s check if she’s okay!”
Wu Jing clearly hadn’t held it in either, but he still had a bit more sense than the rest, so he reminded them.
To him, entertainment and his political career—the latter was obviously more important.
“Oh, right…”
Hearing this, they remembered the actual business and reluctantly restrained their laughter.
Mostly because Lin Jiaxin’s fall position was just too funny. Anyone who could hold it in was a god.
Plus, her breathing was steady, so no one had thought to worry about it.
“This…”
But there was a problem.
Lin Jiaxin was lying face-down. To check on her, they had to flip her over.
A few enthusiastic boys rolled up their sleeves, stepped forward instinctively, then abruptly stopped in their tracks.
The next moment, as if they had stepped on mines, they all retreated in unison, heads down.
The whole scene was eerily synchronized.
“Hey, guys… what are you doing?”
Wu Jing was puzzled. Retreating that fast? Did they see a flood of monsters or something?
“She’s a girl…”
One of them looked at him awkwardly. “It’s… not convenient for us.”
“Not convenient?”
Wu Jing froze, then followed the other’s gaze downward. He saw what made them so hesitant.
When Lin Jiaxin fell, her shirt had ridden up, exposing a small section of her waist and abdomen.
The beautiful oblique lines of her abs had been scraped raw by something, with visible traces of blood.
The fabric of her undershirt was torn too. Though nothing was exposed, the torn clothes made them more worried about accidentally worsening the tear if they didn’t control their strength.
If they helped her up, they would inevitably touch those areas.
To some girls, those are private parts.
It really wasn’t convenient for the guys.
They were all college students, people with principles, not the type to lose their minds at the sight of skin.
Wu Jing was silent for a moment. He turned to the girls in the group: “A few of you girls, help flip her over and see how she is. If she’s unconscious, we’ll take her to the school clinic together.”
The girls exchanged glances. Some didn’t want to move. A few lowered their heads.
Finally, the kind-hearted girl who had advised Lin Jiaxin to apologize to the instructor before the military training started sighed and stepped forward.
“Sigh… My family members are doctors. I’ve learned some emergency basics. I’ll do it… You guys, turn around. Don’t peek.”
She motioned for the other boys to turn away, then carefully helped Lin Jiaxin up, covering her exposed parts, and examined her arms, knees, and other potential injury sites.
Forget it. She’d just do a good deed.
To be honest, this girl didn’t really want to bother with Lin Jiaxin.
After all, when she had kindly warned Lin Jiaxin before, Lin Jiaxin had shot back arrogantly.
If it weren’t for her parents’ influence as doctors since childhood, she really wouldn’t have bothered!
(Lin Jiaxin: Your Honor of Clear Soup! I’m innocent! 😭 I wanted to thank her! But it was all part of my persona! I can’t break character!)
