Gou Yu sat on a bench in the shade, phone in hand, watching videos—though his mind was completely elsewhere.
What occupied his thoughts was the dream from the previous night.
Only when Zhu Niao wasn’t right next to him could he even allow himself to think about something like this openly.
As soon as he closed his eyes last night, he’d found himself standing at the edge of Zhu Niao’s bed, surrounded by darkness.
Then his body had moved on its own, pressing down on his best bro.
The dream had felt far too real—especially Zhu Niao’s submissive and yielding responses.
Even though he was aware it was just a dream, Gou Yu had still felt swept up in the emotions, and at one point, he’d leaned into Zhu Niao’s ear and whispered—
“Didn’t you want your body back?
Isn’t the solution right in front of you?”
At the time, it hadn’t struck him as wrong.
He’d only felt overwhelmed by the vividness of the dream.
But the moment he woke up and came back to his senses, he realized exactly what he’d done.
Thankfully—thankfully—it had only been a dream.
Zhu Niao hadn’t actually been treated like that by him.
He hadn’t really said that line.
Although… come to think of it, Little Bird had seemed to have had a nightmare too.
Haha, no way it had been the same dream, right?
Must be the stress from school starting.
That had to be it.
Stress was making his thoughts go haywire.
He yawned and glanced over at the entrance of the girls’ dorm.
For some reason, he felt like people around him kept sneaking glances his way, making him feel strangely self-conscious and fidgety.
Was waiting outside the girls’ dorm really such an eye-catching thing?
It couldn’t possibly be him that was the problem, right?
Just as Gou Yu was about to leave due to the increasing stares, Zhu Niao appeared, pulling a small suitcase behind her.
Her three roommates followed right after.
“Here.”
Zhu Niao casually handed the suitcase handle over to Gou Yu.
At that moment, Gou Yu also noticed that the stares from passersby were getting even more intense.
It was all because Zhu Niao had turned into a girl.
“You guys are…” he began, glancing at the roommates behind her—who were standing in a huddle, pointing at him and Zhu Niao, whispering to each other.
It felt like those village aunties watching the neighbor’s daughter bring home a man for the first time
Gou Yu didn’t even dare to imagine what kind of reputation he was gaining in their eyes.
Wait a minute.
Weren’t these people also only recently turned into girls?
How had they already mastered the art of gossip?
“Dorm leader might be about to get tricked into going to Myanmar. We’re going to check it out,” Zhu Niao said in a low voice, then glanced at Gou Yu, eyes glinting.
Wouldn’t it be safer to bring my good bro along?
“You’re coming with us.”
“Me?” Gou Yu pointed at himself.
“Yeah. If it turns out the guy’s up to something shady, I’ll sic you on him.”
“I’m not a dog,” Gou Yu said defensively.
To which Zhu Niao replied, “Is there a difference?”
Gou Yu took a deep breath—but agreed in the end.
Liuxie joined the mission, and the three of them huddled together in a shady corner to plan.
“Here’s the plan,” Liuxie said. “We let dorm leader go on ahead, just act natural—eat and drink whatever. We’ll tail them from a distance and watch to see if the guy makes any suspicious moves.”
Conveniently, it was lunchtime.
Following Yang Shuli meant they’d get to eat too—and not stand out.
After forming the plan, Liuxie dragged the AFK Yang Shuli over.
“Where’s he meeting you?”
“At the school gate,” the dorm leader answered honestly.
“Damn, he wants to take you off campus for food? What the hell’s his intention?” Liuxie’s expression showed clear disgust at anyone who’d make a move on a clueless loli.
Sure, she admitted—even back when she was a guy, pretty girls could make her have a few thoughts—but there was no way she’d go after someone who looked underage like that.
That was just sick.
“Feels like a date…” muttered Ye Qingchang, her face contorting in disapproval.
“What kind of scumbag goes after literal children…” she added under her breath.
The group followed behind Yang Shuli, careful to remain unnoticed as she left the school gates.
They gathered behind a patch of shade nearby, keeping a close watch on the little loli dorm leader who stood in the open, waiting.
Soon, they’d see who the creep was that dared lure a naive girl out on a date.
“Look, look—there he is!” someone whispered excitedly.
Liuxie pointed at the sunny-looking boy with tousled black hair approaching in the distance.
Judging from the direction he was coming from, he could only be headed for one person—Dorm Leader Yang Shuli.
“This guy looks kind of familiar,” Liuxie muttered.
Ye Qingchang narrowed her eyes behind her black-rimmed glasses, fingers thoughtfully at her chin. “Yeah… I think so too.”
“I remember now!” Zhu Niao exclaimed, suddenly slamming two punches into Gou Yu’s side.
“Isn’t this the guy who used to hang out and eat with Dorm Leader all the time?!”
“If you remembered, then fine—but do you have to hit my kidneys?!” Gou Yu grumbled, rubbing his side.
Hearing Zhu Niao’s words, Liuxie’s expression changed—she seemed to remember too.
“Yeah, Dorm Leader used to go eat with this guy all the time. We even suspected she was dating him and secretly tailed them once.”
The past was suddenly perfectly mirrored in the present.
“Then why is this guy asking Dorm Leader out to eat now?”
Ye Qingchang questioned, though her tone made it clear it wasn’t a real question.
Everyone understood what she meant.
If he knew Dorm Leader had turned into a girl, it would’ve been impossible for him to call her out so casually—just like old times.
There was only one explanation left:
This guy wasn’t one of the “people who retain their memories.”
He didn’t know Dorm Leader used to be male.
Which made the situation even more dangerous.
Zhu Niao’s face darkened. She turned to Gou Yu and ordered gravely, “If that guy so much as lays a finger on her, I want you to charge in and tear his throat out.”
“Woof!” Gou Yu barked in reply.
“Move in, move in—they’re starting to walk,” Liuxie said, ignoring Zhu Niao and her dog.
But just as quickly, she amended, “Wait—no, they stopped.”
“Did they move or not?” Zhu Niao asked as she retracted the leg she had just taken a step with.
“They’re… wriggling,” Gou Yu said, adding a pun with the word “ru dong”.
He was promptly rewarded with two punches from Zhu Niao.
“?”
“Ah—sorry, wrong target…” Zhu Niao instinctively apologized after punching, then immediately flipped her tone, “No wait, your dad hit you on purpose. Steamed bun, what? You got a problem?”
From a distance, they saw the two figures standing close, huddled around a phone screen, talking about something.
The sunshine-wrapped boy seemed to be pointing at the screen, asking Yang Shuli something.
But Yang Shuli just kept shaking her head—again and again.
“What are those two doing?” someone asked.
“Maybe just deciding where to eat,” Liuxie offered, raising a brow.
“As long as it’s not picking out a hotel to stay in tonight, it’s fine,” Ye Qingchang said dryly.
“I think that might already be decided,” Zhu Niao muttered.
“In those videos I’ve seen, all it takes is one look at the guy’s phone, and the roadside beauty instantly obeys everything he says.”
“What kind of crap are you watching?” Gou Yu asked, a bad feeling rising in his gut.
“Your browser history,” Zhu Niao replied with a calm face.
“Ah—makes sense.”
“Enough with the jokes,” Ye Qingchang finally cut in, sounding fed up with Niao and her “dog” bickering again.
“They’re really walking now. Hurry and follow.”
