Two heads, one large and one small, suddenly poked out of the opening leading to the hall.
One wore a silver-gray heavy knight’s helmet, while the other stared with a pair of lively emerald-green eyes.
“Miss Astrid, is it really still dangerous here?”
“My Undead Eye didn’t see anything?”
Lance asked in a low voice, seemingly worried that some great terror still lurked within the hall.
The Elven lady named Astrid was exceptionally nervous.
To be honest, she didn’t want to return to the vicinity of this hall either.
However, after exploring this floor with the Skeleton for quite some time, they had yet to find the passage leading to the next level.
Logically, the entrance to the next floor was usually located in the most unique room of the current level.
After two days of exploration, what place on this floor could be more unique than this vast hall?
The Elf closed her eyes, sensing the situation inside the hall with her powerful spiritual intuition.
The result, however, was completely beyond her expectations.
‘Where did that cold aura go?’
In the Elf’s perception, there didn’t seem to be anything special about the hall.
If she had to point something out, it was only that the dragon’s corpse had begun to rot, emitting a slight stench.
The two of them walked into the hall cautiously, but nothing unusual happened.
‘Was my perception wrong?’
Just as the Elf began to doubt herself, a sudden change occurred in the hall!
Boom!
The ground suddenly began to tremble, and Lance and Astrid were instantly suspended in mid-air!
No! They weren’t floating!
The ground had suddenly sunk!
Lance and Astrid turned pale with fright and tried to run out of the hall immediately.
However, when they looked back, they found that the opening had already collapsed! There was no way to retreat!
At that moment, a crimson light condensed in the darkness.
Intense fury radiated from those massive eyes that had previously grown dim.
Under their watchful gaze, the dragon’s head, its eyes glowing with a dangerous light, slowly rose.
“ROAR — “
An earth-shattering sound erupted. Lance felt a sudden mental strain as the heavy Dragon Might pressed down, making it nearly impossible for him to lift his head.
The color drained from the Elf’s rosy lips.
‘This is [Dragon Might]!’
‘The Poison Flame Dragon has risen from the dead!’
Lance was terrified and quickly drew his pitch-black longsword.
The Elf summoned her Magi-sword out of thin air.
The moment she gripped it with both hands, a purple light flared brilliantly, and in the blink of an eye, it transformed into a Magic Power Greatsword that was taller than a person.
“Circle around! Don’t attack recklessly! Save your Holy Power!”
Lance immediately took the order and circled toward the right side of the giant dragon.
Meanwhile, the Elf charged from the ground like a sharp arrow, heading straight for the Poison Flame Dragon’s forehead.
“ROAR — “
The one-eyed dragon roared again. Waves of sound swept through the hall, sending bricks and stones flying.
The hall was instantly plunged into chaos.
How could a dragon that had already died once allow the Elf to charge its face again?
It immediately raised a dragon claw and swiped at the approaching purple light.
However, the Elf didn’t intend to dodge at all.
Instead, she increased her speed further, and the light of the Magic Power Greatsword surged.
With a slash, the thick dragon claw was pierced through, but the direction of the Elf’s assault was diverted as a result.
She ended up charging toward the Poison Flame Dragon’s neck.
The Elf changed her move from a thrust to a slash.
With one strike, the neck that she had already pierced through snapped, and the dragon’s head immediately plummeted toward the ground.
Just as the Elf thought the matter was settled, Lance shouted loudly:
“Watch your back!”
The Elf quickly turned her head and saw another dragon claw swiping at her from above.
Astrid’s eyes widened. ‘This Poison Flame Dragon has truly turned into an Undead! Its neck is no longer its fatal spot!’
‘The red Soulfire burning deep within those crimson eyes is the real target!’
With a *thud*, the Elf was swatted far away, flying straight toward the hard stone wall.
Lance quickly changed direction and lunged toward her.
Fortunately, Lance had already reached the initial stage of High Rank, and his speed was quite fast.
Combined with his favorable position, he managed to close the distance.
Lance released a ball of Wind Magic in the intended direction.
Its destructive power was minimal, serving only to block someone’s path.
This magic happened to offset the impact on the Elf’s body.
This allowed Lance to catch the girl a split second before she hit the wall.
“Are you okay?!”
Having not felt the expected pain, the Elf’s emerald eyes widened as she looked blankly at the silver-gray knight’s helmet in front of her.
“ROAR — “
As its head hit the ground, the Poison Flame Dragon let out another angry roar.
The earth-shattering commotion snapped the Elf back to her senses.
Thick liquid surged toward the two of them. This was the Poison Flame Breath!
Lance quickly used Wind Magic to propel himself and the Elf away, escaping the range of the toxic flames.
“I… I’m fine.”
The Elf quickly composed herself and focused entirely on how to deal with this undead Poison Flame Dragon.
“Can your Holy Power penetrate its head?”
Lance set Astrid down and analyzed the current situation.
He quickly replied, “It’s difficult! Its Soulfire is hidden in the center of its brain; it’s hard to hit directly!”
“Then I’ll open its head, and you’ll wipe out the Soulfire!”
They finalized their plan in a few words and quickly split up, rushing toward the Poison Flame Dragon from different directions.
There was clearly a major issue with this Poison Flame Dragon.
Perhaps because its head and neck were separated, it was completely silenced after spitting fire a few times, leaving it able only to roar uselessly in place.
Furthermore, the massive dragon body could only pursue one of them at a time, which gave them an opportunity.
Exchanging a glance from a distance, the Ring-shaped Spaulders on the Elf’s shoulders emitted a purple light, suddenly releasing a massive burst of energy.
This allowed her to break away from the dragon body’s pursuit.
With the purple light surging, the Elf raised the purple greatsword and charged directly at the roaring dragon head.
Lance followed closely from another direction.
*Crack!*
The greatsword plunged into the dragon’s head, and the Poison Flame Dragon wailed in pain.
The Elf’s speed didn’t decrease at all, though the greatsword’s light dimmed and vanished into thin air in an instant.
It left behind only a 1-inch-wide crack where it had pierced through.
Lance seized the timing, and his longsword, wrapped in Saint Rank light, followed up immediately.
Under the full injection of Lance’s power, the Poison Flame Dragon’s head twisted violently, intending to fling him away.
However, Lance pressed down on the longsword firmly, pushing the blade into the one-eyed dragon’s wound inch by inch.
The holy light invaded the dragon’s head, engaging in a fierce struggle with the crimson Soulfire. It quickly gained the upper hand.
The Poison Flame Dragon’s struggling grew weaker and more powerless until it finally stopped moving altogether.
The dragon body that was charging nearby also stiffened and slumped to the ground.
Taking a long breath, Astrid landed lightly beside Lance, her eyes shimmering with surprise.
“Your combat instincts are excellent. It really doesn’t seem like you just reached High Rank!”
Hearing this, Lance smiled and said nothing.
After returning to High Rank, Lance’s overall strength had climbed rapidly, and his combat talent had also begun to manifest.
Currently, aside from a lack of strength, Lance’s other abilities were nearly at the highest level of his previous life.
This was all thanks to the Life Crystal the Elf had given him.
Lance shook the dark green blood off his sword, sheathed it, and looked around the hall.
“There doesn’t seem to be a passage-like pla—”
Before he could finish his sentence, a pale green magic array suddenly appeared in the center of the hall, condensing beneath Lance’s and the Elf’s feet.
Lance subconsciously tried to roll away.
But as soon as he took a step, he was suddenly bounced back to his original spot. His armor let out a *clang*, as if he had hit a steel wall!
Yet there was clearly nothing around him!
Lance turned his head toward the Elf and saw her pressing her hands against an ‘invisible wall,’ her face filled with astonishment.
Her mouth moved rapidly, but Lance could hear nothing.
The light then grew brighter, gradually filling Lance’s field of vision until there was nothing but a sea of white!
‘A trap?’
Anxiety surged in Lance’s heart, but his body seemed to be restrained.
The range he could move in became smaller and smaller… and his consciousness began to blur…
Vaguely, Lance felt his feet lose their footing, as if he were falling…
