Chapter Twenty-Four
The Qin Family.
A youth climbed to the top of a pavilion and gazed at the rows of buildings before him.
He felt the sudden urge to recite a poem, but alas, he lacked the literary talent to compose one and was forced to give up.
Not far from the youth, a beautiful silhouette in pink handled a mountain of paperwork.
The Qin Family was not only a powerful clan but also held a title from the Great Yu Dynasty, tasked with managing local affairs.
Qin Mengyu was already very experienced with these documents.
She would first check the thickness; anything too thick was disregarded immediately, as it was bound to be filled with nonsense.
She only looked at the thin documents and skipped straight to the final paragraph.
“Miss, regarding the Young Master lately…” a maid standing beside Qin Mengyu began.
“Did Mu’er go to the pleasure districts again?”
Qin Mengyu usually turned a blind eye to Qin Mu sneaking out to play, but the pleasure districts were off-limits!
“No, that is not it. It is just that the Young Master has been associating with some scoundrel friends lately.”
“Scoundrel friends?” Qin Mengyu looked up.
“Yes. They are Zhang Li of the Zhang Family and Gao Xing of the Gao Family.”
Upon hearing those two names, a flicker of displeasure flashed in Qin Mengyu’s beautiful eyes.
She had heard of their reputations.
It could be said they never did an honest day’s work and spent all their time on petty, questionable schemes.
“How could Mu’er become friends with people like that?!”
Qin Mengyu looked toward the pavilion, but the youth who had been there moments ago had already vanished.
***
“Puff, puff! I told you, Brother Qin definitely wouldn’t be late!”
A pale-faced youth said while fanning himself.
“Hehe, Brother Qin, did you bring the stuff?”
A sharp-faced youth asked impatiently.
“Sigh, what’s the rush?”
Qin Mu pulled a Storage Pouch from his robe, opened it, and poured out a stalk of Spirit Medicine.
The pale youth grabbed the medicine and held it to his nose, sniffing it with a look of pure intoxication.
“Yes! This is the one!”
Having said that, the youth pulled a book from his robe.
Although it had no cover or title, Qin Mu’s eyes lit up the moment he saw it, and he rubbed his hands together eagerly.
Taking the book, Qin Mu flipped through it. As expected, it was the Records of the Goddess.
Currently, this book was being suppressed by various sects because it featured many famous Immortal Ladies from real-world sects.
However, its popularity among male Cultivators only increased in secret.
Qin Mu had fortunately discovered that these two had a source.
To see the subsequent chapters, he had paid a heavy price.
After all, the more he read, the more hooked he became—both in his upper and lower heads.
“Hehe, Brother Qin, a pleasure doing business with you!”
The sharp-faced youth said, cupping his fists.
“I’ll be going then.”
Qin Mu immediately tucked the book into his clothes.
Watching Qin Mu’s retreating figure, the sharp-faced youth, Gao Xing, said, “Do you think a member of the Qin Family buying these books means…”
The pale youth, Zhang Li, replied, “Hehe, we’re all men. Besides, the latest volume involves those two genius sisters from the Qin Family. Since he’s a member of the Qin Family, he naturally has some fantasies.”
“Oh—no wonder then. After all, for those two genius sisters of the Qin Family, we can only see them in books.”
“Indeed!”
The gap was too wide. In their daily lives, meeting them even once was a fantasy.
Just as Zhang Li and Gao Xing were about to head back, a stunningly beautiful woman in pink stood not far away.
“Holy— Gao Xing, am I seeing things? Qin Mengyu is right in front of us!”
“Zhang Li, I don’t think you’re mistaken. That really is Qin Mengyu!”
Avatars of the Qin Family sisters had long been circulated by surrounding powers to their disciples.
If they ever met them, they were told to run as fast as possible, as they stood no chance in a fight.
Qin Mengyu had no interest in these two.
She had followed them all the way, thinking Mu’er was learning bad habits from them.
She hadn’t expected him to be buying a book, and such a secretive one at that.
“You two, hand over the books from earlier!”
Qin Mengyu didn’t want to waste words and went straight to the point.
Hearing her words, Zhang Li and Gao Xing exchanged a look.
Could they hand them over?
Of course not!
If she saw the contents, they would likely be finished right then and there.
“Hehe, Second Young Lady Qin must be joking. We don’t have…”
Before Zhang Li could finish, a flicker of Danfire danced on his shoulder.
“I don’t want to repeat myself. Either hand them over, or I will perform a Soul Search,” Qin Mengyu said tonelessly.
A Soul Search would leave them as idiots even if they survived.
Thus, the two immediately prostrated themselves and honestly handed over the remaining dozen or so books.
“Is this all?”
Qin Mengyu casually picked up one, flipped it open, and looked at the contents. Immediately, a deep crimson blush crept onto her cheeks.
This book was…!
Mu’er bought this book to…
Boom!
In an instant, the remaining books were incinerated, leaving only the one in Qin Mengyu’s hand.
Then, she looked at Zhang Li and Gao Xing with cold eyes.
“No… Nooo!”
A short while later, the two young masters were found in their respective family latrines, beaten until their faces were swollen like pig heads.
Not long after, the man known secretly among male Cultivators as the God of the Pen was dragged out by the Qin Family sisters, causing many male Cultivators to sigh in grief at the fall of a legend.
However, that was a story for later.
***
Qin Mu sneakily returned to the Qin Family estate, bypassing all the servants and maids to reach his room.
“Aya, it took so much effort just to get this latest volume.”
Qin Mu had exhausted his energy just to track down who was selling it first-hand.
‘Hehe, let me see the latest content.’
Qin Mu hurriedly pulled the book from his robe and prepared to open it.
Suddenly, a fair, delicate hand appeared before his eyes, accompanied by a waft of floral fragrance.
“Mu’er, give it here.”
Qin Mu didn’t even need to look up to know it was Elder Sister Mengyu.
‘Wuwu, my treasure hasn’t even warmed up in my hands yet, and it’s already been discovered…’
“Sister Mengyu, I was just reading a book.”
Qin Mu felt he could try to argue his way out. Perhaps he could fool her.
If Qin Mengyu hadn’t seen the contents, Qin Mu might have stood a chance. However, she had already skimmed through the book.
She was nearly dying of rage.
That damned author!
If she ever caught the person who wrote this, they were finished!
Qin Mengyu didn’t speak; she simply beckoned with her hand.
The meaning was clear.
With a dejected look, Qin Mu was forced to hand over the book he had worked so hard to obtain.
“Mu’er, tell Sister, are there any more?”
Qin Mengyu asked with a smile.
Hearing this, Qin Mu quickly shook his head.
He couldn’t let Sister Mengyu find his little warehouse, or he would be doomed!
In Qin Mu’s little warehouse, he had hidden many good things—all resources he had spent a great deal of effort to find.
Finding resources here was much harder than in his previous life; it was time-consuming and expensive.
Qin Mengyu naturally didn’t believe her brother was out of copies.
With a flick of her palm, she sent a blast of True Qi into the floor.
A moment later, a pile of portraits and books flew out from under Qin Mu’s bed.
Qin Mu was speechless.
Soon, the sound of the Qin Family’s Young Master begging for mercy echoed throughout the estate.
However, the servants and maids seemed used to it and continued with their work.
