“Guan Kelai has always been somewhat afraid of Xiao Xi, which I can understand, but why was Genbeier so nervous this time? It’s very unusual!”
Yun Che continued with an air of certainty, “Xiao Xi is so sharp; there’s no way she didn’t notice their odd behavior. There must be something they aren’t telling us!”
“The matter regarding A Kai is of great importance. Even if there’s only a tiny risk, I’m not willing to take it!”
Though Yun Che mentioned Kaos by name, both people present knew exactly who he was actually referring to.
“Indeed!”
Zi Jiu nodded, agreeing with Yun Che’s assessment.
Genbeier had always followed Yun Ruoxi’s lead, making him her number one lackey. He was practically on par with Aili.
However…
“It was useless for you to stop me,” Zi Jiu sighed. “Xiao Xi still managed to get the truth out of Xiao Ai.”
Yun Che shook his head. “There was no other way. It would have been too difficult to ask Xiao Ai to keep a secret from Xiao Xi. Besides, A Kai does indeed need two helpers over there.”
“Have faith in A Kai. He has always been sharp. If there’s a problem, he’ll definitely be able to spot it.”
[**A Kai: Me? (points at his own nose)**]
[**Since the final examination started, A Kai’s reputation has been plummeting. Does anyone have any ideas why?**]
[**Stupid, he’s obviously talking about Lin Zhen.**]
“You two, go over there and move those parts for me.”
Inside the Meteorite, Guan Kelai and Genbeier stared blankly at the perfectly square, grayish-white space before them. They were so shocked that they didn’t even register Lin Zhen’s words for a moment.
Was this really a space that could be carved out by human strength alone?
The entire area was massive.
The floor, walls, and ceiling were exceptionally smooth, as if someone had hand-polished them ten thousand times. Their reflections were clearly visible on the surfaces.
In the center of the space, a strange creation stood quietly. It looked like a broken wooden bowl.
“Didn’t you hear me?” Lin Zhen didn’t get angry when he saw they weren’t responding.
He pointed to the parts piled in a corner and repeated himself, “Your job is to work together and move these parts over here!”
Because he had memorized the entire structure of the spaceship, he adopted a non-traditional bottom-up construction plan to speed up his progress.
This meant manufacturing all the individual parts first, then creating the basic frame of the spaceship, and finally assembling the parts into components to be installed onto the skeleton.
Now, after spending nearly one day, he had roughly finished manufacturing all the necessary parts for the spaceship.
He was currently working on constructing the frame. Therefore, he needed Guan Kelai and Genbeier to help him move the parts next to the spaceship in preparation for the final step.
Of course, he could have used his supernatural power to move these parts himself, but his star energy was limited and precious.
Every drop had to be used where it mattered most. For a menial task like moving parts, manual labor was far more efficient.
Guan Kelai and Genbeier finally snapped out of their daze upon hearing Lin Zhen’s words. Following his instructions, they walked over to the small mountain of strange objects called “parts.”
They took a quick look. These “parts” varied in size; some were larger than a person, while others were no bigger than a finger.
Guan Kelai thought for a moment and chose a medium-sized one. It was a short rod that looked like a bone, about as thick and long as his forearm.
He grabbed the back of the rod and pulled it out from the pile with a forceful yank. The rod slid out smoothly, but the front end immediately slammed into the ground with a heavy thud.
*Thud!*
Startled, Guan Kelai quickly glanced back at Lin Zhen.
Seeing that the youth hadn’t reacted and was still crouching in front of the spaceship’s frame, controlling a mass of Metal Liquid to patch things up, he finally breathed a sigh of relief.
He tried to pick up the short rod, but the small object was surprisingly heavy. Guan Kelai had to use all his strength just to lift it.
The veins on his temples bulged as he wobbled toward Lin Zhen. It took him quite a while to walk just 50 meters.
“Put it here,” Lin Zhen said, pointing to an empty space on the side.
*Clang!*
Guan Kelai dropped the short rod and panted heavily. His arms were shaking as if he had touched an electric fence.
Genbeier, being a warrior who had undergone long-term training, performed much better than Guan Kelai.
Lin Zhen glanced at the two of them. “I forgot. These parts vary in weight. Just pick the ones you can actually carry.”
Hearing that he only needed to move the light ones, Guan Kelai immediately felt relieved. He looked at Lin Zhen with gratitude, and certain thoughts in his mind became even more resolute.
He walked back to the pile and specifically chose the small, light parts to move.
Genbeier was different; he continued to move whatever he could pick up.
Time passed minute by minute.
Under the influence of Lin Zhen’s powerful supernatural power, the spaceship’s skeleton grew rapidly, like a castle built of sand. A small portion of the mountain of parts had been moved by Guan Kelai and Genbeier, much like ants moving a house.
“Phew!”
After moving another part, Guan Kelai walked back to the pile and wiped the sweat from his brow.
Just as he was about to pick up a small part in front of him, he suddenly saw Genbeier reach into his clothes with lightning speed, pull something out, and stuff it into a small, box-like part.
Genbeier looked up and met Guan Kelai’s eyes.
Under Guan Kelai’s gaze, he bent down to pick up the box, quickly placed it next to Lin Zhen, and then walked back. He looked at Guan Kelai calmly with a look that said, ‘It’s your turn.’
Guan Kelai pursed his lips and also took out a piece of black soft mud from his clothes, flattened it, and pressed it onto the inside of a part.
Holding the part, he walked over with heavy steps.
One step, two steps, three steps… He passed the spot where the parts were supposed to be placed and suddenly broke into a run, rushing to Lin Zhen’s side.
“A Zhen, I can call you that, right?”
Guan Kelai grabbed the hem of Lin Zhen’s clothes and spoke at a rapid pace. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw a shadow rushing toward him from behind. A hint of fear and urgency appeared on his face.
“I have something urgent to tell you!”
“What is it?” Lin Zhen stood up with a frown.
“I — “
Guan Kelai opened his mouth, but a sudden, cold pain shot through his back. Something had stabbed straight into his body.
But before he could feel fear or react, the object that had entered his body came to a sudden halt, stuck in his muscle.
Guan Kelai looked back in terror.
Genbeier’s eyes were bloodshot. He was clutching a wooden dagger in his right hand, and the front end of the long blade was mostly buried in Guan Kelai’s back, only a fraction away from piercing his heart.
The black-haired youth stood to the side, his face cold as frost and his eyes narrowed. His right hand was tightly gripping Genbeier’s wrist.
“What do you think you’re doing?” Lin Zhen asked coldly.
Genbeier said nothing. He only stared at Guan Kelai with resentment, gritting his teeth and using all his strength to try and push the dagger further in.
However, Lin Zhen’s hand was like a vise, clamping down on him so tightly that he couldn’t move an inch.
“Save me, save me!”
Guan Kelai’s lips trembled as he pleaded, “I have important information for you!”
