Chapter 15 : Third Floor Internal Medicine, A Chance to Live

Before Li Yiming could fully digest the message given by the girl over the intercom—Several Lickers had already made their move!

“ROAR!”

The largest and most muscular Licker at the front let out an enraged howl toward the ceiling.

Behind it, five other Lickers lunged toward Li Yiming from all directions!

Now was the time to stay calm!

Li Yiming’s eyes widened as his pupils darted rapidly.

He was desperately trying to track each Licker’s attack trajectory!

Thanks to the modifications brought on by the T-virus, Every one of the Lickers’ movements became crystal clear in his perception.

His brain began to operate at full capacity, frantically searching for that one slim chance of survival!

As he was thinking—The fastest Licker had already reached him!

“ROAR!”

It let out a bloodthirsty shriek and lunged straight at him!

However, Li Yiming didn’t even glance at the imminent danger.

Instead, he swiftly pivoted to the side—then launched a powerful high kick!

BANG!

A Licker that had been attempting a sneak attack from the ceiling was kicked straight into the air!

And the one that had lunged at him from the front missed entirely as Li Yiming dodged with that single sidestep!

Now’s my chance!

Li Yiming didn’t waste time engaging in a drawn-out fight. 

He immediately sprinted toward the opening in the encirclement!

The stairwell was already blocked by the lead Licker—clearly not a viable escape route.

Li Yiming set his sights on the registration hall!

There, a row of patient benches lined the area.

Enhanced by the T-virus, Li Yiming’s speed now surprised even himself.

In the blink of an eye, he had dashed into the registration hall!

Though he didn’t look back, his ears picked up the rapid, heavy stomps of the pursuing Lickers.

Just from the sound alone, he knew—The pursuit was relentless!

No time to confirm visually.

Li Yiming stepped directly onto one of the patient benches in the hall.

Then he squatted low—and with explosive force, leapt!

CRASH!

He felt his entire body suddenly lighten.

Like a vertically-launched missile, he shot straight up toward the hospital’s second floor!

Mid-air, he adjusted his posture—Then flipped and landed on the second floor with a roll!

“Phew… I actually made that jump.”

Li Yiming exhaled sharply, feeling slightly wild with disbelief at what he had just pulled off.

The Lickers chasing him from the first floor now stood frozen in confusion.

Before they could recover—Li Yiming made a break for it, feet moving like they were greased, sprinting toward the staircase on the other side.

He knew all too well—Lickers could climb walls.

If he jumped directly to the third floor now, he’d actually shorten the distance between himself and the pursuing Lickers.

As he ran, Li Yiming couldn’t help but marvel at his own physical condition.

Just moments ago, his right leg had been pierced by shrapnel, and now—it was already carrying him at full speed.

At this rate, his odds of survival didn’t seem quite so hopeless anymore.

But just as a glimmer of hope surged in his heart—A shadow flashed past.

Before Li Yiming could even see what it was— A searing pain shot through his abdomen!

The world spun around him.

BANG!

With a deafening impact, the lead Licker rammed its claw straight through his stomach, pinning him violently to the wall!

“ROAR!!”

The massive Licker let out a triumphant, deafening roar—showing off its dominance over the prey it had just impaled.

“Urgh…”

Li Yiming’s face turned pale as death. 

A mouthful of blood spilled from his lips.

His internal organs—torn apart in the most literal sense.

Yet even in the face of such catastrophic injury— A vicious glint surged in Li Yiming’s eyes!

With a sudden, explosive movement, he reached up and grabbed the Licker’s head!

“You wanna kill me? Not that easy!!”

He roared hoarsely, his voice filled with crazed defiance!

Muscles bulging, his arms erupted with brute force—CRACK!

A spray of blood exploded from the Licker’s head.

A shrill, tortured screech echoed through the hallway.

In a feat of raw, unhinged strength—Li Yiming had crushed the Licker’s skull with his bare hands!

Reeling from the devastating injury, the Licker yanked its claw free and staggered backward, shrieking as it fled in pain.

And Li Yiming—fell from the wall like a lifeless sack.

Clutching the gaping wound in his abdomen, he gritted his teeth and forced himself upright.

“Just need to make it to the third floor… just the third floor…”

He murmured breathlessly, legs moving on autopilot.

Whether there really was a sliver of hope waiting in Internal Medicine—He didn’t know.

But if he didn’t cling to that belief, he’d collapse right then and there.

Just as he neared the stairwell— A smaller, leaner Licker caught up to him from the left!

“ROAR!!”

It pounced the moment it got close—

“Damn it!!”

Li Yiming reacted instantly, raising his briefcase-carrying left arm to shield his head.

CRUNCH!

The Licker’s fangs sank directly into his left arm!

The sheer bite force—instantly shattered the bones in his forearm into splinters.

But in that moment—fueled by adrenaline surging through his veins—Li Yiming felt no pain.

With a sharp tug—He ripped his own arm off, using the Licker’s bite as leverage!

Tearing away the limb completely, Li Yiming didn’t even look back.

He just kept running.

Behind him, the Licker spat out the severed limb and the briefcase from its mouth.

Just as it prepared to resume the chase— A small spherical object rolled to a stop beside it.

BOOM!!

A burst of orange-red flames erupted into the air!

Under the cover of the explosion— Li Yiming clenched his teeth and made it to the third floor.

“Internal Medicine… Internal Medicine…”

With his vision growing increasingly blurred, he struggled to locate the internal medicine clinic.

Finally—at the end of the left hallway—he spotted the sign hanging from the ceiling marked Internal Medicine!

He dragged his heavily weighted steps forward, inching his way toward the door.

By the time he reached the clinic, Li Yiming collapsed onto the reception desk, coughing up a mouthful of blood.

He didn’t need to turn around—he could already hear the pounding footsteps of the Lickers behind him.

Just as despair was about to consume him— A hand landed on his shoulder.

“Hang in there!”

A pleasant female voice rang out.

From the corner of his eye, Li Yiming caught sight of a pair of black-stockinged, beautiful legs.

Before he could even react— The girl helped prop him up.

Once he was standing, Li Yiming finally saw her face.

More striking than her odd outfit—a white coat and white shirt, paired with short shorts and black stockings—Was her waist-length, pale blue hair, flowing like silk.

Before Li Yiming could even speak—The girl raised her hand, aiming it at the Lickers charging toward them.

“Freeze!” she shouted.

In an instant, the temperature around them plummeted.
