“Who is it?”
A cold female voice quickly came from behind the door, carrying a somewhat icy attitude in its tone.
“Hello, classmate. We’re your roommates and wanted to get to know you.”
Ning Mu responded politely.
“Alright, please wait a moment.”
Still an icy tone, but at least she didn’t refuse.
After about half a minute, the door lock opened with a click.
“Hello… it’s you?”
Ning Mu had intended to greet her normally, but when she saw the person opening the door, she couldn’t help but freeze slightly.
“It’s you!”
When Ye Hui clearly saw that the person was Ning Mu, she looked a bit surprised.
The icy attitude that had kept people a thousand miles away instantly dissipated.
“Hmm? You two know each other?”
Bai Yurou saw the two recognizing each other and felt a bit confused.
Who is this woman? Why don’t I know her?
The woman in front of her had a cool expression and a tall figure.
At first glance one might mistake her for a teacher at the school, but her clothing was simple, which didn’t quite match the stereotype people had that “onee-sans are all rich.”
Bai Yurou stared at her face and always felt she resembled someone she knew, except that person went the energetic route and didn’t have such a cold aura.
Ning Mu’s social circle was quite narrow. As her older brother, Lin Ye basically knew all her friends. If Ning Mu knew someone with such a striking temperament, Lin Ye shouldn’t have no impression of her.
But she herself had no impression at all. So, had they met during this period after Lin Ye’s death?
“When I went to the airport to see Zhao Dandan off before, I happened to run into Classmate Ye Hui who had lost her wallet, and I helped her find it,” Ning Mu explained.
“I had just come over from Star City at the time and was originally planning to go to the school to register. Losing my wallet really scared me.”
Ye Hui picked up the thread. “Thankfully I ran into you. I never expected you would actually be my roommate for the next four years.”
“Then we should still introduce ourselves properly. My name is Ning Mu, and she’s Bai Yurou. We’re both locals from Moon City.”
Ning Mu felt that although the two of them had interacted at the airport before, since they would be living under the same roof from now on, they should still formally get to know each other, and also let Ye Hui get to know Bai Yurou by her side.
“My name is Ye Hui, from Star City.”
Ye Hui also briefly introduced herself, her tone becoming flat with little fluctuation.
Then the two added Ye Hui on WeChat.
Ye Hui’s avatar was a little cat, probably one she raised at home.
Her WeChat name was just her real name.
So formal? Bai Yurou silently complained in her heart.
This was the first time she had ever seen someone use their real name as a WeChat name.
After adding friends, she casually created a group, named it “Moon Uni 401,” and pulled everyone in the dorm into it.
“We also know the fourth person in the dorm, but she hasn’t come to register yet. We can still create the dorm group first though,” Bai Yurou explained to Ye Hui, then opened WeChat to privately message Cai Xiaotong and told her the situation.
Ye Hui didn’t object. Instead she calmly said to the two, “It’s almost noon. Let me treat you to a meal. It’s also a good chance to thank you for last time, and to get to know my new classmates while we’re at it.”
Ning Mu nodded. “Alright. Yu Rou and I haven’t checked out the shops near the school yet anyway. We came straight here after registering.”
Bai Yurou had no objections either.
Although she felt Ye Hui mainly wanted to thank Ning Mu, she had no reason to refuse when someone was treating.
Ye Hui had arrived at Moon City University a few days early and had already lived in the dorm for a while, so she was relatively familiar with the surroundings. Soon she led the two to the school’s food street.
“What do you want to eat?”
Ye Hui asked the two.
“You decide.”
“I’m fine with anything.”
Since Ye Hui was treating, neither of them particularly wanted anything specific, so they left the choice to her.
“Then let’s have noodles.”
Ye Hui didn’t dawdle either.
She made the decision directly and then casually walked into a roadside noodle shop. Ning Mu and Bai Yurou hurriedly followed.
This was an extremely ordinary roadside noodle shop. Inside were several sets of dark brown wooden tables and chairs.
The tabletops had been wiped until they shone slightly, but the corners had already been worn smooth, showing they had been used for some years.
A handwritten menu board hung on the wall, the chalk writing a bit blurry.
There were no extra decorations, and even the lighting was warm yellow.
“Classmate, you’re here again. Brought friends this time?”
It seemed Ye Hui had come here to eat quite a few times these past few days.
The moment the boss lady saw Ye Hui enter she greeted her, looking very familiar with her.
“Mm, Auntie, the usual for me.”
Ye Hui said, then asked the two, “You two take a look at the menu.”
Bai Yurou looked at the menu board. The prices were quite reasonable: 9 yuan for 1 liang, 11 yuan for 2 liang, 13 yuan for 3 liang.
In the end Bai Yurou ordered a clear broth pork rib noodle.
After all, with her currently frail body she couldn’t eat spicy food, and she had already taken her medicine alone in the room before leaving earlier.
Ning Mu ordered a braised beef noodle.
The three sat at their seats waiting for the noodles to arrive and found some topics to chat about.
But before long, someone interrupted their quiet.
“Hello, classmates. Can I get to know you and add WeChat?”
A boy from the neighboring table walked over and spoke.
Just earlier Bai Yurou had noticed that the few boys at that table had been quietly laughing and chatting, glancing over from time to time.
In the end the others egged one of them on and pushed him out.
The boy’s face was flushed red as he braced himself and walked over to their table.
After all, the looks at their table were all top-ten material on the campus belle ranking.
Bai Yurou, who had fused with Lin Ye’s memories, naturally knew how lethal that was on the guys’ side.
“No.”
Before Bai Yurou could even open her mouth, Ye Hui across from her had already decisively refused.
That tone was no longer the flat one she used when speaking to Ning Mu and Bai Yurou, occasionally with some emotional fluctuation.
Instead it suddenly dropped several degrees, carrying a chill that kept people a thousand miles away.
It actually matched her appearance and aura better.
“Ah… sorry for disturbing you.”
The boy was so startled by Ye Hui’s aura that he trembled, hurriedly apologized, and fled back to his own table as if escaping.
“Getting disturbed ruins the mood. So annoying.”
After driving the boy away, Ye Hui said to the two opposite her.
Her tone was no longer the icy one from just now, but had returned to flat again.
So Ye Hui treated people like herself and Ning Mu—people she knew and had some goodwill toward—with a relatively flat attitude.
When encountering strangers or people she disliked, she went full aura with an icy attitude.
“Indeed.”
Ning Mu agreed. She and Bai Yurou had already encountered this kind of thing more than once today.
They had been surrounded by guys the moment they entered campus, so they shared the same experience.
After the few of them complained a couple of sentences, they shifted the topic to the new campus life.
As they talked, the boss lady brought the noodles over.
Ye Hui skillfully pulled a pair of chopsticks from the chopstick holder, tasted a bite, and said, “You two try it too. This place’s flavor is really good.”
Bai Yurou curiously tasted it. The pork ribs had been stewed just right, the broth was rich and mellow, and the noodles were fine and smooth.
It was no worse than what Mama Wang at her house made.
