By the time Bai Fan stepped out of the underground black market, the sky had already fallen completely dark.
This trip had been quite a haul.
She had sold that Ethereal Crystal in her hand at a tenfold profit, and she had also managed to acquire a precious Relic.
But more importantly, she had found the person she was looking to settle the score with.
The corners of Bai Fan’s lips curled up slightly. She herself didn’t even realize that she was in a good mood today.
The man standing at the entrance was still the same middle-aged uncle with the scale.
Bai Fan greeted him.
“Gatekeeper, good evening.”
Her attitude was friendly, but the moment her ice-blue eyes swept over him, the man gave a violent shudder.
“Little miss,” his voice was a bit tight, “I won’t stop you. Go on, leave.”
Bai Fan found it strange, but she didn’t think much about it. She simply turned around and walked away.
After watching her figure disappear at the end of the tunnel, the man’s expression changed.
He pulled out his communicator and lowered his voice to say a few words.
“Brother Feng, the one wearing the Squirrel Mask you wanted to keep tabs on has already left the scene.”
Half a quarter of an hour later.
Bai Fan was walking along a narrow alley. On both sides were high walls, and above her head was only a sliver of sky.
She walked for a while, then suddenly stopped and slowly raised her head.
“Don’t bother hiding anymore,” she said. “I know you’re there.”
Two seconds of silence.
Then a rough, loud laugh rang out from deep within the alley, echoing.
“Hahaha! Little bitch, do you have any fucking idea who you’ve pissed off?”
A figure as sturdy as an iron tower stepped out from ahead. He was holding a long iron bar in his hand, and the Wild Boar Mask on his face looked even more savage in the dim light.
Bai Fan glanced back.
On the street behind her, several men in black had appeared at some point, holding axes in their hands, blocking her retreat.
She raised an eyebrow and slowly bared a cold smile.
“You were too slow,” she said. “I deliberately took this route just to make it easier for you to find people to block me.”
Brother Feng’s expression changed. He slammed the iron bar onto the ground, cracking it in several places.
“Even with death staring you in the face, you’re still this arrogant!”
Bai Fan said nothing more. She pulled out the steel rebar from her black coat and gripped it in her hand.
“Don’t waste time. All of you, come at once.”
Her Perception spread outward from her body, and everything within a ten-meter radius became crystal clear.
The positions of those men in black, the way they held their axes, the rhythm of their breathing, even the pulsing of the veins on Brother Feng’s wrists.
All of it was in her senses, clear and distinct.
“Heh.” Brother Feng cracked his knuckles and spun the iron bar in his hand. “You all be careful. Don’t kill her. I still have questions to ask her.”
“Haha, Brother Feng, you don’t even need to say it.” The lackeys chimed in, chattering away. “We want to know too—what little bitch is so cocky that she dares to mess with our Brother Feng.”
“Exactly. Even the girls at Jinsha Club aren’t this arrogant.”
“I can’t wait to see what kind of face is under that Squirrel Mask.”
Bai Fan didn’t have the patience to listen to them finish.
She stepped forward, bent her knees.
Her figure turned into an afterimage.
The closest lackey, who was still laughing, was struck with a bang and sent flying, slamming into the wall.
Like a kicked stray dog, he slowly slid down the wall, twitched once, and stopped moving.
The laughter cut off abruptly.
The alley was terrifyingly silent.
Bai Fan stood still, staring coldly at them.
Right in front of everyone, she casually flicked her fist, as if shaking off something dirty.
“Why aren’t you laughing anymore?” she asked calmly.
No one answered.
The men in black suddenly realized one thing: this person, surrounded by them, was still standing here so calmly.
This confidence wasn’t without foundation.
“Damn it, are you all scared of a little bitch?”
Brother Feng slammed his iron bar onto the ground again, creating a few more cracks.
He swept his fierce eyes over his subordinates.
“Anyone who backs off, I won’t go easy on him.”
The lackeys shuddered and tightened their grips on their axes, staring intently at Bai Fan.
But their fingers holding the axes were much whiter than before.
“Chen Feng.” Bai Fan’s voice was unhurried, as if calling out to an old acquaintance. “How come I never noticed before that you’re such a coward? Hiding behind your underlings to pump yourself up?”
Brother Feng ground his teeth so hard they creaked. “Who the fuck are you? Acting like you know me so well?”
“Once I break your arms and legs,” Bai Fan said, “I’ll naturally tell you slowly.”
“Damn it, all of you, attack together!” Brother Feng roared. “When dealing with a bitch like this, you have to gang up and teach her a lesson!”
This time, he charged out first, and the lackeys behind him surged forward like a pack of wolves hunting prey.
Bai Fan watched Brother Feng’s ferocious face, and a thought suddenly rose in her mind.
If this had been a month ago, facing a setup like this, she probably wouldn’t have even dared to breathe loudly.
If she hadn’t been pushed into a corner with no way out, she wouldn’t even have dared to lift her eyes to look at them.
But now, it was different.
After the initial Awakening, coupled with the Spiritual Essence she had absorbed these past few days, her physical abilities had far surpassed those of these people.
Bai Fan’s gaze suddenly turned sharp. She pulled the steel rebar from her sleeve and gripped it tightly.
She charged out again, spreading her Perception.
Every single person’s movement became slow, clearly reflected in her mind.
The nearest lackey had just raised his axe when Bai Fan’s rebar whipped across his arm.
The second lackey on the left moved like he was underwater in her eyes. She kicked his knee.
Then the second on the right, the third on the left, the second in front. Every single person’s actions appeared in her perception in advance.
Her body seemed to have a mind of its own, counterattacking with precision.
Bam bam bam.
The two groups only clashed for a few short seconds.
By the time Brother Feng realized what was happening, a large swath of his underlings had already fallen around him.
“Urgh—ah—” They lay on the ground, making pained sounds.
His own shoulder was aching too. He hadn’t even seen what happened before he was solidly hit by a blow himself.
“Damn it,” his voice changed. “Who the hell are you?”
His confidence was already starting to waver, but he still put up a tough front.
“Do you know whose territory Lincheng is? Do you know the consequences of messing with our Thirteen Opens?”
“Idiot.” Bai Fan stared at him coldly. “Where did Master Mo go? Tell me, and I’ll let you keep half a dog’s life.”
“Master Mo?” Brother Feng was stunned for a moment, then burst out laughing. “You don’t know your place. Master Mo’s status now is not something you can touch.”
“Just as I thought,” Bai Fan said. “You can’t expect to reason with a dog. You have to break its bones to get anything useful out of it.”
She pulled out the steel rebar again.
“Damn it,” Brother Feng gritted his teeth. “I didn’t want to use this, but you forced me.”
He reached into his chest and pulled out a tube of crimson liquid, downing it in front of Bai Fan.
Bai Fan’s pupils contracted slightly.
The bloody aura attached to that thing was exactly the same as the Blood Thirst Syndrome patients she had Purified before.
Superior Vampire blood? Used to Transform ordinary people?
Before she could think it through clearly, Brother Feng let out an inhuman roar.
The veins on his face bulged one by one. Fangs protruded from the corners of his mouth, and his nails became sharp like beast claws.
His entire body swelled up, and his eyes turned bloodshot red.
This state was exactly the same as Master Mo’s back then.
Brother Feng took a deep breath, as if savoring some fresh flavor.
He flexed his fingers, and his joints cracked loudly. His blood-red eyes stared at her.
“It feels great not being human anymore.” He grinned. “Even if you kneel and beg for mercy now, it’s too late.”
Bai Fan slowly pulled off the Squirrel Mask on her face, revealing her ice-blue eyes.
Inside her chest, the Mingshenyu began to vibrate, as if something within it had awakened.
White flames spread from the palm of her hand, silently attaching themselves to the steel rebar.
She also smiled.
“Perfect,” she said, swinging the rebar. “This way, I can beat you to death without breaking the law.”
