Chapter 318: As Expected of an NPC, Truly Professional

Su Li didn’t really mind Chi Qingyao sitting on the bench for a while.

After all, there was still some time before lunch, and it wouldn’t affect her eating with Zhuzhu later.

When noon came, Zhuzhu would bring her food, and she could just go eat at the dining hall.

There were no other client bookings between now and noon.

Su Li had quite a bit of free time.

She thought it over and decided she really should make good use of her time.

After all, coming to school to attend class was all about improving herself.

On a normal day, Su Li was either working or on the path to self-improvement.

So this was no different from usual.

It was just that Chi Qingyao didn’t have much money.

If she had free time, she could consider completing some other transactions.

Having time wasn’t all that important to Su Li.

Of course, that was on the premise that there were no high-quality client orders.

And transacting with clients like Chi Qingyao, who didn’t have much money, was just to earn some extra cash.

If it didn’t work out, she could back out anytime.

Although Su Li didn’t think anything could affect her, given she had no emotional fluctuations right now.

“Can I take a photo?”

“That’s a separate price.”

Su Li’s tone was calm.

The two of them sat on the bench by the artificial lake. Chi Qingyao looked at Su Li.

She was a little curious how Su Li could say something like that so calmly.

‘So this reaction only comes after triggering certain keywords?’

Chi Qingyao became even more convinced that Su Li was an NPC.

“How much?”

Either way, she had money now, and the price probably wasn’t too steep.

It was just the cost of buying a skin.

Sometimes she bought a skin and never even used it.

She even wondered if the money she spent on games would be better used elsewhere.

‘Yeah, it should be an acceptable price.’

Maybe spending money could increase affinity?

Only, she had no way to see Su Li’s current affinity toward her.

She couldn’t see Keaichun’s affinity either.

She also couldn’t see her sister’s affinity.

If there was a way to check, Chi Qingyao could know the cost-effectiveness of her spending.

“Fifty.”

“Okay, I’ll V you fifty.”

As she said that, Chi Qingyao transferred the money and thought about the photo her sister had taken with Su Li.

So…

The photo her sister had always prized only cost fifty yuan?

She didn’t know how she felt about that.

The good news was that her sister probably didn’t have to pay for it back then.

The bad news was that the photo she valued so much could be taken by anyone.

After Chi Qingyao finished transferring the money, she rested her head on Su Li’s shoulder.

Su Li made a peace sign.

Su Li put on her professional fake smile.

Even though it was fake, Su Li still smiled sweetly.

She could tell that Su Li wasn’t genuinely happy.

She was only smiling because of the transaction.

But even so, Chi Qingyao thought Su Li looked really pretty when she smiled.

It reminded her of a CG from a gal game she used to play.

Once the photo was taken, Su Li immediately went back to her blank expression.

‘Sure enough, an NPC.’

‘So professional.’

‘As long as you pay, she’ll fulfill any request.’

Chi Qingyao looked at Su Li and suddenly thought of something.

‘There are some weirder things… I wonder if Su Li would fulfill them if I paid.’

But she didn’t ask those questions.

Given their current relationship, asking something like that would only lower affinity.

Besides, she thought that would be too cringey.

Chi Qingyao didn’t know how to raise other people’s affinity.

But she could clearly sense others’ affinity toward her.

She thought that compared to Su Li, she was better at reading the room.

Otherwise, she wouldn’t have more friends than Su Li.

But her flaw was that she was never truly sincere with anyone.

So Chi Qingyao felt she had no real friends.

However, her sister was genuinely sincere with her.

When she met people who weren’t sincere, she ended up as an ATM machine to be used.

And her sister had a very soft personality. She would get used to people being nice to her, and then let their sincerity slip away.

Chi Qingyao thought her advantage over others was that she had discovered Su Li was an NPC early on.

While everyone else was still infatuated with Su Li’s looks.

An NPC wouldn’t treat them differently based on appearance.

It would only judge them based on their actions.

Just like today, when she called Su Li out. She believed that if it were anyone else, as long as they mentioned two hundred yuan, Su Li would come out.

‘So money really can improve NPC responses?’

Chi Qingyao thought this to herself, feeling like she had discovered a blind spot.

‘It’s like a game guide.’

Of course, she wouldn’t share this game guide with anyone else.

After all, Su Li was the only person she had found that could prove NPCs existed.

If other rivals maxed out Su Li’s affinity, what if Su Li’s items didn’t drop?

And Chi Qingyao believed her thinking was correct.

Based on her previous speculations, reality should have a large light pillar.

Even so, it was still possible to build a connection with Su Li.

The reason was that Keaichun had transferred money to Su Li.

Su Li wouldn’t refuse money.

So gaining Su Li’s favor might be related to the money spent.

But there was no way to judge the return rate.

Right now, she had invested two hundred and fifty yuan and gotten a photo with Su Li.

It wasn’t nothing.

At least she unlocked a CG.

Chi Qingyao was eager to test if she could unlock other options.

“Su Li, later can you hold my arm when we walk into the classroom?”

“Just act like we’re close.”

Su Li looked at Chi Qingyao, not understanding what that was about.

“How much? Let me see if I can afford it.”

As she said that, Chi Qingyao moved to transfer money to Su Li.

She let out a long sigh, feeling that chatting with Su Li was way too expensive.

But thinking about how her sister spent five hundred yuan on a single game, this was actually cheap for her.

‘Could dealing with an NPC come with a newbie buff?’

After all, a lot of games were pretty friendly to beginners.

“Fifty yuan.”

Su Li thought Chi Qingyao was too poor.

But she hadn’t had much business lately.

Earning a little bit was fine.

And fifty yuan was already a lot for an average university student.

“Deal!”

As she said that, Chi Qingyao became even more certain of her idea.

‘So affinity is triggered by events like this?’

By transferring money to Su Li, she felt their relationship had become a lot smoother.
