On the central plaza in front of the Temple of the God of Light, the place was filled with banners that blocked out the sun today.
Several thousand soldiers of the Holy Light Knights, clad in silver-white armor, stood in neat ranks. The spears in their hands were as numerous as a forest, and the cold gleam on the spear tips flickered.
This was the army personally raised by Seraphina herself, named the Border Expeditionary Force. They were about to go to the border to fight, to exterminate those dark creatures that kept appearing recently.
On a high platform in the square, Seraphina had changed into battle attire. She had taken off the elaborate and splendid white robes of the Saintess that she usually wore.
Now she wore a set of light silver armor that was no less dignified. Her red cloak fluttered continuously in the wind. In one hand, she held the sword of light.
“Fellow countrymen!”
Her voice, amplified by a sound-enhancing magic array, rang out like a great bell, echoing across the entire square.
“Darkness is eroding our homeland!”
“Our brothers and sisters are suffering at the border!”
“As guardians of the light, what can we do?”
“Do we retreat?”
“Do we flee?”
“No!”
Seraphina suddenly raised the sword of light. The tip pointed straight up to the high sky.
“We will pierce this darkness with our sharp swords!”
“We will defend our glory with our blood!”
“For the lights of ten thousand homes behind us!”
“For those compatriots still waiting for us to rescue them!”
“Kill!”
“Kill!”
“Kill!”
The roar of the Knights was so loud it hurt the ears. Hot blood burned in everyone’s veins.
Yisela, who had been squatting in a corner below the platform, was playing with her fingers out of boredom.
‘As a transmigrator, she knew very well that this kind of rally was usually just a bunch of official claptrap. It was just to stir up everyone’s emotions.’
But when she heard Seraphina’s line about “the lights of ten thousand homes behind us,” she was completely stunned.
Her sister was standing on that high platform. Sunlight shone on her. Her heroic and spirited appearance felt so dazzling. So inspiring.
Yisela felt her own blood heating up as well. ‘Her reason told her she should keep a low profile now, but her emotions were like a wild horse that had broken its reins.’
‘Even though she had lost her power, she was still of the True Dragon God lineage! How could she be missing in a situation like this? I want to get fired up too!’
Yisela suddenly jumped out from that corner. Then she climbed up onto the platform using both hands and feet.
“Huh?”
“Who is that little girl?”
“Oh my god, is she the Saintess’s little sister?”
The voices below the platform became chaotic. The young knights in the front row widened their eyes and elbowed each other. They lowered their voices to speak, but couldn’t keep them down.
“Are those horns on her head?”
“Dragon horns?”
“No kidding, they’re silver.”
“And a tail—she’s that Silver Dragon Little Devil who came to cause trouble in the Holy Temple before!”
Seraphina was at the climax of her speech when she suddenly saw a little ball of fur climb up onto the podium with an angry look. She couldn’t help but freeze, almost breaking character and laughing out loud.
“Yisela?”
“What are you doing up here?”
Yisela tried hard to put on a stern expression on her still childish face. She imitated Seraphina’s earlier gesture, waving her small fist that was a bit large for her. She shouted with all her might.
“Hey!”
“Everyone listen to me!”
“Even though I have no power now, but!”
“If the dark forces dare to come, I’ll bite them to death!”
“I’ll use my dragon fangs to crush them piece by piece!”
“No one is allowed to bully my sister!”
“No one is allowed to bully everyone!”
“Rawr!”
The whole venue was silent for about a second. Then, thunderous applause and joyful laughter erupted.
The young knights in the front row who had been gossiping about her were stunned at first, then laughed so hard they doubled over.
“What did she say?”
“Crush?”
“Hahaha!”
“This kid is too cute!”
Even the usually most serious heavy shield knights couldn’t help but stick their heads out from behind their shields. They wanted to see which little one dared to shout like that at the rally.
A knight squadron leader with a full beard coughed, trying hard to put a stern face back on, but the crow’s feet at the corners of his eyes had already given him away.
Seraphina helplessly put a hand to her forehead. But her eyes were full of laughter. She walked over. Then she picked Yisela up in one go. And said to everyone below.
“Did everyone hear that?”
“Even our little dragon is going to bite the darkness to pieces.”
“So, knights, what are you waiting for?”
“Move out!”
