Chapter 147: The Promise (Short Version)

Time passed minute by minute.

Lu Yunze stood quietly in the silent Banquet Hall. Occasionally, he could hear the voices of the servants outside talking with the guards.

“There sure were a lot of things happening tonight.”

“I never imagined someone would actually try to assassinate the Old Master in public.”

“Pipe down, the guards are right over there.”

Only when their voices faded into the distance did Lu Yunze let out a long breath. He felt as if he were in a dream.

He had been waiting for over one hour, yet the person he was waiting for still had not appeared.

‘Did she forget our promise for tonight?’

Lu Yunze had kept it in his heart the entire time. He had stayed through the banquet properly and had not even considered leaving after the incident occurred at the venue.

He had finally waited until everyone else left, but the most important person was nowhere to be found.

Come to think of it, Lu Yunze had not seen her at all during the entire banquet.

‘Did she actually just make a joke? Was her real goal just to comfort me a little bit?’

‘If that’s the case, Jiang Sui is being too cruel.’

However…

Even so, Lu Yunze could not bring himself to be angry. He could only complain that he was too naive. To think he had been played like a fiddle by a woman.

Just as he picked up his coat from the side and prepared to leave, he heard a rhythmic *click-clack* of footsteps.

Seeing the dazed Lu Yunze, Jiang Sui chuckled and breathed a sigh of relief.

“I thought the Young Master had already forgotten our promise for tonight, which would have meant I came all this way for nothing.”

“I was clearly the one who wanted to ask you that. I almost thought you were going to stand me up.”

Although there was a smile on his face, Lu Yunze could sense the bitterness within it.

“What are you saying, Young Master? When have I ever let you down?”

Jiang Sui slowed her pace. Her fair, slender legs moved with her steps, showcasing her curves under the flickering light.

Coming to a stop in front of Lu Yunze, she suddenly remembered something. “Wait for me for a moment.”

Lu Yunze watched as she took off the leather band around her wrist, gathered her long hair, and tied it into a simple yet beautiful style.

For some reason, the way a girl ties her hair always seems full of charm. He felt his heart race and quickly looked away.

“There. The Young Master won’t mind my hurried preparation, right?”

“No, I won’t.”

Facing the hand the girl proactively reached out to him, Lu Yunze finally felt at ease. He gently grasped her small hand and placed his other hand on her shoulder.

Under the shimmering moonlight, the two began their first—and last—dance of the evening.

Even though Lu Yunze had practiced the steps several times in the air before Jiang Sui arrived, he still felt an unprecedented nervousness when her graceful body was so close and her warm breath brushed past his cheek.

Even more fatally, Jiang Sui’s beautiful face was swaying right before his eyes. Her pale skin shimmered invitingly under the moonlight, and her full, red lips carried a hint of a smile. Her bright eyes seemed to hold the moonlight itself.

As she danced, a faint fragrance and her warm breath continuously drifted toward him, making Lu Yunze’s heart itch.

This caused him to not only completely forget the subsequent dance steps but also to step on her toes from time to time with his messy footwork.

Whenever that happened, Jiang Sui’s eyes would curve slightly, carrying a hint of beautiful resentment and a touch of playfulness. Then, she would take the initiative to lead the dance, skillfully guiding his steps and bringing him back on track from his clumsy state.

Gradually, Lu Yunze became immersed in it, and his movements regained their former feeling.

If anyone else were present to see their dance, they would surely sigh in admiration, “It’s like a blooming flower.”

The dance did not stop until the two of them were nearly exhausted. They found a nearby spot to sit down, and once he settled, Lu Yunze began to feel thirsty.

“Young Master, have some wine.”

Jiang Sui conjured a bottle of wine from somewhere, along with two wine glasses.

“Did you buy this?”

Lu Yunze used to be unable to understand why Little Lin and the others would always lose their minds over pictures of feet sent by group members. He used to think it was just a boring hobby.

However, at this moment, when a real jade-like foot was bared before him, a primitive desire rushed to his head. His Adam’s apple bobbed unconsciously as he took a heavy swallow.

He slowly raised his hand, his fingertips trembling slightly as he gently held the girl’s small, jade-like foot.

The warmth of his palm touched the skin of her fair foot. The delicate bones and soft curves brought a warm sensation through her thin skin. To his surprise, her toes carried a hint of coldness, without the slightest bit of dampness.

His fingers could not help but stroke the smooth skin of her foot, carefully feeling the texture of every inch.

“What is the Young Master waiting for? Aren’t you going to start?”

Even without looking up, Lu Yunze could sense her smile.

‘Since you’re the one asking me to start, then I won’t hold back.’

He quickly searched for massage techniques on his mobile phone. After looking at them twice, Lu Yunze found that it seemed simpler than he had imagined.

He finally managed to return the Little Maid to her bedroom. Lu Yunze even placed the wine by the head of her bed. After admiring her sleeping face for a short while, he left the area.

About half an hour later, Jiang Sui suddenly opened her eyes and sat up abruptly.
