“Your ring is still with me!”
Roman finally reacted, sitting up from his side-lying position.
Lady Catherine wore an ambiguous expression, as if she truly found him impossible.
“You can still find it?”
At this, she suddenly wasn’t in a hurry, instead watching Roman with interest.
Lady Catherine, who was also propping herself up from a side-lying position, suddenly furrowed her brows.
“Darling, wait a moment.”
Roman paused, looking at her in confusion.
“Our hair is tangled together.”
Lady Catherine pinched a few strands of black and white hair that were entwined.
For some reason, seeing their hair tangled together made Roman suddenly recall the old saying about the red thread of fate, and he momentarily went a little dazed.
“I’ll untangle it.”
Lady Catherine mistook Roman’s hesitation for awkwardness and lowered her head to touch the intertwined strands.
“Or…”
Roman pressed Lady Catherine’s hand.
Facing her puzzled look, Roman said, “Hair is resilient; it will come apart naturally after a while. Trying to force it now might not even work.”
Lady Catherine actually liked this feeling of their hair being tangled together.
It gave her a false sense of being connected with Roman, so she nodded in agreement.
Roman then reached inside his clothes and took out the ring adorned with tiny diamonds.
Lady Catherine extended her slender, elegant right hand toward Roman.
“Put it on for me.” She said casually.
Roman parted his lips but ultimately said nothing to refuse.
An intense emotion brewed in his chest. Compared to helping Lady Catherine take off the ring earlier that morning, what he was about to do now felt even more embarrassing and thrilling.
One hand supporting Lady Catherine’s palm, the other holding the ring, Roman slowly slid it onto her ring finger, covering the mark left by wearing it for so long.
“Phew.”
Lady Catherine let out a sigh of relief only after Roman finished putting the ring on.
During those few seconds as the ring passed over her finger, her heartbeat sped uncontrollably.
A faint smile curved the corner of her lips as she pulled Roman’s hand and said, “Now that we’ve rested, we can’t waste the afternoon. There are so many things I need to tell you…”
Roman obediently allowed Lady Catherine to hold his hand as she helped him up from the bed and put on his shoes.
Their long hair was still slightly tangled together, but neither of them cared.
Their bodies leaned close, unknowingly walking out of the room.
A few seconds later, Roselia’s room became quiet and empty once again.
Then Sylvia finally could no longer hold back and stepped out from the wardrobe, exuding a silent and unsettling aura.
Mother?
Darling?
Sylvia almost lost control upon hearing those terms of endearment, overlooking several other details.
With a sullen expression, Sylvia was certain that the way these two interacted and communicated was deeply problematic.
In other words, their relationship was abnormal.
Just thinking about it gave Sylvia a terrible headache.
She was certain Roman was Nanny’s child.
If he had an affair with the Lily Countess, it wouldn’t be a big deal—it wouldn’t amount to much.
But if… Sylvia didn’t dare to think further.
She decided to observe a bit longer, at least until after this night before making any conclusions.
With a shift in her thoughts, the space around Sylvia changed once more, and she found herself back at the Ceremony Hall of the Holy City Ceremony.
Repeated spatial shifts had no effect on her. Once steady, a tall woman immediately folded one hand over her chest and knelt respectfully on one knee.
“Holy Throne, you have returned.”
Sylvia glanced over, her expression softening slightly.
“Captain Rosetta, please rise.”
“Yes.”
The tall woman slowly stood, lifting her head to meet Sylvia’s gaze.
Her hair was snow silver, less dazzling than Roman’s Saint Silver but possessing a noble purity.
Her long hair was tied back into a neat ponytail, and her clear amber eyes held respect without any hint of inferiority as she met Sylvia’s gaze.
She wore a blue-and-white knight’s light armor, both luxurious and holy, with the Knight’s Sword strapped at her waist.
Her features were mature, her expression steady, yet she appeared quite young—several years younger than the Holy Throne herself.
This was terrifying because Captain Rosetta was unquestionably a Domain Transcendent. Her talent was beyond extraordinary.
Such a talent earned Sylvia’s trust, making her second-in-command.
Yet what Sylvia valued most was not Rosetta’s talent, but her character.
Rosetta’s Sacred Seal was called ‘Justice.’
Though ranked as a High-tier Sacred Seal, it was the most controversial among them all.
Unlike other High-tier Sacred Seals with steady growth curves, the ‘Unyielding growth curve’ of Justice depended entirely on the wielder’s will.
It was an abstract concept, but its results were very real.
Most who awakened the ‘Justice’ Seal barely became High-tier Extraordinary; that was usually their limit.
Many were mentally affected, forcibly transformed into embodiments of ‘Justice.’
But Rosetta was an exception.
She remained unaffected by the Seal upon awakening it, which baffled everyone at the time.
Only after Sylvia became the Holy Throne and got to know Rosetta did she roughly understand why.
If a person originally had flaws, the Seal would influence them.
But if the person was flawless to begin with, there would be no effect.
In other words, Rosetta was born the incarnation of ‘Justice’—pure and sacred.
Such a Seal was practically made for her.
She eventually broke through her limits and became a Domain Transcendent several years later.
Indeed, after Sylvia promoted her to Captain, Rosetta’s uncompromising and just nature made the people of the Holy City truly see what it meant to be impartial and fair.
Whether commoner or noble, even clergy, no one was exempt in her eyes.
If a duke broke the law, Rosetta would treat him the same as any ordinary citizen.
Under Rosetta’s governance, the Holy City’s environment grew purer by the day, both in law and livelihood.
The pure air without privilege was perhaps found only in Saint City Osiris across the entire continent.
