After hanging up the phone, Su Ziling glanced at the time.
It was already three in the afternoon. Dragging things out any longer wasn’t going to help.
So, she found a secluded corner where no one was watching and pressed the gem on the Transformation Device.
The black-and-gold-clad girl appeared once again, but she didn’t stay put. Instead, she leaped into the air and sped toward the East City Police Station in Kensington as fast as she could.
That place was a bit far from here, so it would take a little time to get there.
About an hour later, Su Ziling finally arrived at the entrance of the East City Police Station.
Unlike the fully staffed police station in the New City District, the East City Police Station in Kensington had only two listless Magical Girls slumped over the desks, yawning.
The facilities here were also a bit shabby and outdated, as if they hadn’t been maintained or updated in a long time.
But thinking about it, it made sense. The real power controlling the Old City District was the Weirdo Organization. The Magical Girls here were mostly just a symbolic presence.
“Huh?” The Magical Girl slumped at the front desk mumbled in confusion when she saw Su Ziling approaching. “I don’t remember any notice about a colleague coming today. Could she be here to relieve us?”
Seeing the two whispering to each other, Su Ziling cut straight to the point.
“Did someone come here to surrender recently? I’m here to take him to the New City District for trial.” As she spoke, she pulled the Arrest Warrant out of her pocket.
The two girls first glanced at the warrant in Su Ziling’s hand, then exchanged a look before replying.
“Senior, are you sure you’ve got the right place? No one’s come here in over a month. Who would be surrendering?”
“…?”
Su Ziling was taken aback. She looked up at the sign above the police station again. It was indeed the East City Police Station.
Could it be that Sun Biao had gone to the wrong place?
“Is there another police station nearby?”
“No. The whole of Kensington only has two stations. One is us, and the other is in the West City. That’s over ten kilometers away.”
Hearing this, Su Ziling fell silent.
Obviously, Sun Biao couldn’t have run over ten kilometers to surrender at the West City Police Station. That left only one other possibility.
Someone had intercepted him ahead of time.
Without another thought, Su Ziling rushed out of the station, pulled out Liang’s Transformation Device, and activated it outside.
Su Xiaomeng’s Spiritual Outfit was suited for combat, not tracking.
She had originally thought asking Liang for the Transformation Device would be an unnecessary step, but now it had proven useful after all.
Liang’s Transformation Device was a bracelet with a sapphire-blue gem hanging from it. As Su Ziling touched the gem, a blinding blue light enveloped her instantly.
When the light faded, her original black-and-gold dress had transformed into a cloak and a blue-and-white leather armor set.
Even the weapon in her hand had changed into a short bow.
This was Liang’s Spiritual Outfit, and Su Ziling could also use Liang’s abilities.
Without delay, she headed straight to the bridge tunnel Lin Yizhou had mentioned, but it was already empty. Only a trail of footprints remained.
Liang’s ability allowed her to visualize those footprints clearly, even though they had long become blurred from the rain.
Following the footprints forward, at first they indeed headed toward the East City Police Station. But halfway there, a second pair of footprints joined in, and then the trail abruptly changed direction, leading toward an abandoned warehouse near the docks.
Seeing this, Su Ziling’s expression turned grim.
Her guess was right. Someone had indeed taken Sun Biao away.
Following the footprints further, she soon spotted an abandoned warehouse. The door was wide open, and the inside was completely empty. No one was there. The footprints had become chaotic and impossible to distinguish.
But one thing was certain: Sun Biao had definitely been here.
Walking into the warehouse, Su Ziling began searching for new clues, but a note on the wall caught her eye.
The words were cut out from magazines and pasted crookedly to form a sentence:
“Protean Witch, I’m sorry, but you can’t stop anything~“
After reading the note on the wall, Su Ziling’s face darkened completely. She immediately realized she had fallen into a trap!
Without a second thought, she pulled out her phone and called Liang, shouting.
”Someone’s planning to set more fires in the New City District! Hurry and notify the others!“
”Huh… Huh?”
Liang on the other end was stunned for a moment before grasping the seriousness of the situation.
”Got it. I’ll notify the Magical Girl Alliance right away.“ The call ended, but behind Su Ziling, a loud chorus of footsteps rang out.
A large group of Monsters with twisted appearances and various forms surrounded the warehouse.
Clearly, these were the miscellaneous Monster organizations from the Kensington area—just like the messy gang members from America in her previous life.
”Whoa~“ A half-wolf Monster with a wolf’s head but a hunchbacked, rat-like body shuffled to the front, picking its teeth with a claw and speaking with a thuggish tone. ”Magical Girl, don’t you know the rules? Who said you could step into our ‘Hyena Gang’s’ turf, huh?“
Another Monster squinted at her for a moment before bursting into laughter.
”Hey, she’s got a pretty tender face. Wonder if the rest of her is just as tender, huh?“
Glaring at these random lowlifes who couldn’t be more stereotypical, the dark-faced Su Ziling took a deep breath and said only one word.
”Scram.“
”Damn! You’re asking for it, aren’t you?!“ The half-wolf’s fur bristled with rage at the insult. He roared furiously, ”Brothers! Take this little bitch down! If we don’t beat her until she calls us daddy, how can the ‘Hyena Gang’ ever show our faces in Kensington again? Charge!“
”Awooo!“
”Daddy… Daddy, please stop hitting…“
The warehouse was in shambles. The Monsters who had been strutting around moments ago were now piled on top of each other in twisted positions, groaning and whimpering like a pile of trash swept by a hurricane.
The half-wolf leader, now battered and bruised with a swollen face, was pinned under Su Ziling’s foot, unable to move.
”We’re sorry! Please, lift your noble foot…“
”Scram.“
”We’ll scram, we’ll scram right now!“
The Monsters who could still stand scrambled away in a panic.
Faint shouts of ”Physical Witch“ and ”Shapeshifting Tigress“ could still be heard in the distance.
Ignoring the remaining Monsters who were lying on the ground and unable to get up, Su Ziling was about to leave when her phone rang again.
The moment she answered, Liang’s panicked voice came through.
”Senior! It’s really burning!“
Hearing this, a bad feeling surged in Su Ziling’s heart. ”Where?“
”42-2 Maple Leaf Street!“
