This world is a game.
Yeah, I mean a game.
I probably sound insane saying this all of a sudden.
But this world was really inside a game.
Or should I say, a game was made based on this world?
It’s a bit vague, but one thing was clear: this world was the same as the game I used to know—Dark Ariel.
[Dark Ariel]
It was once titled “the best subculture game.”
Like many other games, Dark Ariel was a gacha game with anime girls.
But it was known for its dark fantasy vibe, which it pulled off incredibly well.
A tragic storyline, compelling villains born from that tragedy, and a grand narrative of a hero facing those villains.
All of this combined to create an insanely entertaining story, and I remember really
enjoying the game.
But over time, the difficulty level became absurdly high.
To clear those high-difficulty stages, you basically had to spend money.
In short, the game company started aggressively pushing in-game purchases.
Because of that, more and more people began quitting.
And I was one of them.
It was a shame, but with so many other games out there, I didn’t dwell on it.
Looking back, I should’ve just never played that game.
“Master?”
I should’ve just stuck to the casual games I always played…
Why did I have to pick that one?
Even now, I regret that choice.
All I did was play a game, yet somehow this crazy world possessed me.
It’s not like I bad-mouthed the game, or wrote a 5,000-character rant.
I just played it—and that alone got me possessed into this place.
“Master?”
“…”
Hearing the voice call out again, I slowly lifted my head.
Standing in front of me was a beautiful woman with blue hair.
Her looks were so striking, even the princess—known as the most beautiful woman—would pale in comparison.
Her maid outfit clearly showed that she was a maid.
But her true identity was far beyond that of a simple maid.
“Master, why aren’t you answering?”
Her cold blue eyes stared intently at me.
Under that pressure, I had no choice but to open my mouth.
“I was just thinking about how to greet Her Highness the Princess tomorrow… You know how picky she can be, right?”
Of course, I hadn’t been thinking about the princess.
Or more accurately, I couldn’t.
Ever since she looked at me, an unspoken pressure kept triggering my survival instincts.
You might say it doesn’t make sense that just someone’s gaze could trigger such instincts.
Unfortunately, the maid in front of me isn’t a normal person, so it does make sense.
You want to know how amazing this maid is for me to say all this?
She’s one of the strongest characters in the entire world.
A former swordmaster who’s mastered martial arts, and not just that—she’s also highly skilled in magic.
She could beat most mages with magic alone.
Her status?
She used to be an empress.
There’s literally nothing lacking in her background.
In short, she was an officially overpowered “munchkin” character.
The one problem?
She’s a crazy psychopath who could kill someone at random and no one would even be surprised.
But even with that flaw, her strengths were so overwhelming that most characters just ignored it.
Except me, of course.
Why?
The reason is ridiculously simple.
Step, step—
“But Master…”
Suddenly, she began walking up beside me.
Her cold eyes locked onto me.
“When did I ever say it was okay to think about other women in front of me?”
‘Please, seriously, just let me live.’
Because this insane psychopath… is my maid.
What the hell.
