You stole my stuff and still expect me to come find you tonight? You think I’ll just show up because you tell me to?
What do you take me for!
Hearing Xia Mo’s words, Luo Shuangyue instantly felt a surge of irritation in her heart.
She really wanted to turn around and scold Xia Mo right to her face.
But after thinking it over for a moment, she decided she would still go to Xia Mo’s place that evening.
Xia Mo had taken the initiative to invite her, so it couldn’t be something trivial, could it?
Although Xia Mo sometimes did weird things when they met, every time before, Xia Mo had actually called her over for serious matters.
For example, half a month ago, Xia Mo had come to Luo Shuangyue to tell her that the Magic Department would be making a big move soon, and advised Luo Shuangyue to keep her head down for a while.
So today—could it be something like that again?
Anyway, she’d know what was up after going over tonight…
So, around nine in the evening, Luo Shuangyue put on a disguise and knocked on Xia Mo’s window.
“How much do you hate using the front door?” Watching the girl in black clothes and a black skirt climb in through the window, Xia Mo let out a helpless sigh.
She was starting to wonder if Luo Shuangyue had been a villain for so long that she’d developed some strange quirks.
What was the point of always coming in through the window instead of using the door?
And you’re not even wearing shoes! Staring at Luo Shuangyue’s bare feet on the windowsill, Xia Mo silently made a mental note.
It seemed like every time Luo Shuangyue came in through the window, she never wore shoes.
Was she putting on an act, or was this really just her thing?
“Going through the front door would attract unnecessary attention.” Luo Shuangyue flipped into Xia Mo’s bedroom.
Compared to a month ago, Xia Mo had changed out the Magical Girl posters in her room, and now the latest designs were hanging on the walls.
But the area where the White Night poster used to be was left empty on purpose.
It looked like Xia Mo didn’t want to cover up White Night, who clearly held a special place in her heart, with any other Magical Girl.
“So? Why did you call me over?” Luo Shuangyue withdrew her gaze, put on a stern face, and asked Xia Mo in a disgruntled tone.
If Xia Mo didn’t have a good enough reason, she’d… she’d ignore Xia Mo for a whole week!
“The Magic Department found traces of a Royal-Class Magic Beast in Jidong City. They mounted a siege and completely destroyed the organization it had built up, but the beast still managed to break through the Magic Department’s defenses with a few of its underlings and is now fleeing southwest.”
This time, Xia Mo really did have something urgent to discuss with Luo Shuangyue.
The Magic Department moved quickly.
As soon as they discovered a Royal-Class Magic Beast had infiltrated human society, they launched an all-out search and managed to flush it out.
Then they gathered an overwhelming force to encircle it, but unfortunately, the beast still broke through their blockade.
“Southwest of Jidong City…” Luo Shuangyue pictured the current world map in her mind.
Jidong City was on the eastern frontier of the human world, and there were quite a few cities to its southwest.
Xinghai City was one of them.
“That’s right. Now every city in the beast’s escape path has the Magic Department on high alert. As soon as the beast appears, they’ll try to block it so the main Magic Department forces can catch up and kill it.” Xia Mo nodded. There were many cities southwest of Jidong City, but who knew if the beast might decide Xinghai City was an easy target and come here?
Compared to last month, at least Xinghai City now had an Initial Bloom-class Magical Girl, but against a Royal-Class Magic Beast—even one wounded and fleeing from the Magic Department—they were still stretched thin.
That’s why Xia Mo came to Luo Shuangyue, hoping she could help.
“This is a big deal, Dark Moth. I want to ask for your help.” Xia Mo stepped forward, locking eyes with Luo Shuangyue’s red pupils, and spoke each word with sincerity.
Those words sounded heartfelt, but given what happened during the day, it all felt a bit abstract.
You tripped me up during the day, and now you want my help at night? Seriously, do you think I’m made of cotton? That I’d just let you kick me around without getting mad?
“You remember how you went against me earlier today, right?” Luo Shuangyue said coldly, her voice low.
Xia Mo nodded.
“Then how do you have the nerve to ask me for something now? We’re enemies. Enemies!” Luo Shuangyue raised her hand to smack Xia Mo on the head, but Xia Mo dodged with a quick sidestep.
“Fighting is fighting, cooperating is cooperating. How does that saying go? ‘Fight at the head of the bed, make up at the foot.’”
“Since when do we have that kind of relationship!” Luo Shuangyue was nearly stunned by Xia Mo’s shameless words. What did she mean, ‘fight at the head of the bed, make up at the foot’? Was that how things were between Lord Dark Moth and Rosemary?
No way!
They were enemies, okay? Enemies who fought every few days!
“In my heart, Dark Moth, you’re my companion. You’re as important to me as my juniors.” Xia Mo stepped forward and grabbed Luo Shuangyue’s hand, speaking to her earnestly.
Ever since she found out who was behind the mask of Dark Moth, Xia Mo had stopped believing anything Dark Moth said.
No matter what Dark Moth said, the result was always the same—she’d act all tsundere but end up helping Xia Mo anyway.
Not a single exception.
“I know you’re a kind-hearted girl. A Royal-Class Magic Beast is something I can’t handle alone. Dark Moth, I really, really need your help!” Xia Mo looked at Luo Shuangyue with sincere, pleading eyes and spoke with emphasis.
That look—she’s cheating… With Xia Mo staring at her like that, Luo Shuangyue found she couldn’t get a single word of refusal out, even though it was right on the tip of her tongue.
What else could she do? If the Royal-Class Magic Beast really did show up, wouldn’t she end up running over to help Xia Mo anyway?
Even if she cut ties with her childhood friend, her little sister was still here, being a Magical Girl.
She couldn’t just abandon her sister too, right?
“You really are shameless.” With a faintly displeased snort, Luo Shuangyue still agreed to Xia Mo’s request. “But you have to give me the Sealing Card you have!”
“I’ll let you see it, and you can use it if you want, but I won’t let you take them away.” Xia Mo shook her head at once.
“They’re no use to you just sitting in your hands.”
“But at least I can make sure they won’t be used for anything bad while I have them.”
When it came to the Sealing Cards, Xia Mo wouldn’t budge an inch.
If Luo Shuangyue only wanted to absorb the power from the cards, Xia Mo wouldn’t mind, and might even be happy to let her do it.
But if Luo Shuangyue wanted to take the cards away, then sorry, Xia Mo would never allow that.
