“Ah?”
Luo Xiya woke up groggy, unable to tell what the person before her wanted. She didn’t even recognize who Milis was.
It was like punching cotton, Milis’s delicate face puffed up with stifled frustration.
She scrutinized Luo Xiya from head to toe, the disdain in her exposed right eye growing more pronounced.
Her extraordinary talent is decent enough, Milis thought, but indulging in such low pleasures…
Forget reaching the Saint Domain, she may never even glimpse the laws.
Is this really how Lady Catherine taught her?
Luo Xiya, however, didn’t notice the shift in Milis’s gaze at all. She regarded Milis with equal curiosity.
Silver hair was rare in the Aingloran Empire.
Most people only got it after falling ill.
Luo Xiya had heard that all the pure-blooded Moon Elves from Linge Forest had silver hair.
She used to treat it as just a rumor, but after truly seeing, and even ‘tasting’, it herself, she realized that one of the things she was most enamored with about Roman was his long, smooth silver hair.
Paired with Roman’s fresh, subtle scent, not just last night, but every night since she obtained him, she had slept holding him, unconsciously burying her face in his fragrant shoulder, her fingers threading through his hair.
She had only just left the warmth of the bed, and as she was still reluctant to part with Roman, another silver-haired figure appeared before her. She was momentarily stunned.
Milis sensed the odd look in Luo Xiya’s eyes and frowned, taking a step back.
Fortunately, Luo Xiya quickly snapped out of it.
After all, aside from the silver hair, Milis and Roman were entirely different.
Having just indulged herself, Luo Xiya’s interest quickly faded, this girl before her was clearly just a girl.
“Did you need something from me?”
Luo Xiya asked with a frown, now fully awake.
Who let her into the manor without notifying her?
Such disregard for rules.
As she grew impatient, Lady Catherine finally stepped forward to explain everything in detail.
When she heard that Milis had snuck into her manor, and even her dungeon, in the middle of the night, Luo Xiya couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow, giving Milis another careful look.
From that silver hair downward, her delicate features and smooth, oval face were perfectly matched.
Her right eye was an icy blue, while her left was hidden by a lock of hair.
She wore a white and gold robe, nearly reaching her ankles, embroidered with the unique patterns of the Holy Light Church.
The design was both elegant and ancient.
“You’re from the Holy Light Church?”
Luo Xiya asked.
Milis continued to look at her with disdain, neither confirming nor denying.
Luo Xiya couldn’t help but laugh in exasperation.
She pressed on, “Are you mute, or just illiterate?”
Milis was just about to retort, but Lady Catherine quickly intervened to stop things from escalating.
“This is the Saintess I told you about, Milis. She used to be my student.”
Luo Xiya couldn’t help but ask, “What is the Church’s Saintess doing on my land? Sneaking around like a thief, no less. Do I have some secret treasure here?”
“People like you, who think with their lower halves, of course wouldn’t know anything,” Milis finally spoke, her voice as light and clear as a nightingale.
Luo Xiya didn’t get angry. Instead, her eyes narrowed slyly as she stared at Milis.
“You’ve seemed to dislike me from the moment we met. Did I ever offend you?”
Though she was a countess, she still had to show deference to the Church’s Saintess.
Since that was the case, she might as well ‘reason things out.’
“If I have offended you in any way, Saintess Highness, I beg your pardon~”
At the end, Luo Xiya couldn’t help but let a hint of playfulness slip into her tone.
She wanted to see how this clearly guilty Saintess would respond.
Milis’s composure faltered.
Of course she had her reasons to dislike Luo Xiya, but how could she say them out loud?
“It’s like this, Milis wants to take Tania away,” Lady Catherine finally stepped in to smooth things over for Milis.
“Tania? Absolutely n… Why?”
Luo Xiya’s thoughts shifted rapidly, moving from outright refusal to a willingness to negotiate.
The only real reason she’d kept Tania was to vent her anger.
But now, Luo Xiya found she no longer cared. Tania’s only remaining value lay in some secrets about her family and the Demonic Flower.
With Milis here, Luo Xiya suddenly realized she could gain her original benefits without the risk of offending the Desmon Family.
So why not?
“She’s on the Heretic Tribunal’s list.”
At the mention of the Heretic Tribunal, even Luo Xiya, who always thought highly of herself, frowned.
It was the Holy Light Church’s most secretive organization, on par with the Saint Key Knight Order in rank.
Unlike the illustrious Saint Key Knight Order, the Heretic Tribunal was the Church’s third face, existing in both light and shadow, striking down the unlawful and eradicating heresy from the shadows.
Now that Tania was on the Heretic Tribunal’s list, Luo Xiya almost felt sorry for her.
If she stayed here, Luo Xiya would just leave her half-dead. But in the hands of the Heretic Tribunal, Tania would neither live nor die.
“What heresy did she commit?”
Luo Xiya asked.
“Communicating with evil spirits,” Milis replied lightly.
“Fine, let’s find a room and talk this over.”
Hearing Luo Xiya’s response, Milis quietly breathed a sigh of relief.
She’d been afraid Lady Catherine would force her to apologize to Luo Xiya, but it turned out Luo Xiya didn’t care about her actions last night at all.
“Let’s go, then.” Milis’s attitude softened a bit.
Just as the three were about to leave, a figure emerged from the room.
Milis glanced over, then couldn’t look away.
Roman tiptoed out, wearing only an oversized white shirt that barely covered his thighs, leaving his slender, delicate calves exposed.
His usually smooth silver hair was now sticking up everywhere.
There were visible lip marks on his face, and the top two buttons of his shirt were undone, revealing his alluring collarbone, marked with red.
He hugged a pillow, rubbing his eyes in confusion.
“Luo Xiya-sis, who’s here?”
He seemed to think everyone in the manor was trustworthy, looking completely unguarded.
But no one had expected a guest like Milis, who took in every detail of Roman’s lazy posture and charming figure.
Luo Xiya’s eyelid twitched violently.
She rushed forward, scooping Roman up and carrying him straight back into the room.
From inside came Roman’s faint pleas for mercy, followed by the sound of him being tossed onto the bed.
Lady Catherine looked a bit embarrassed.
Milis, meanwhile, stared at the door, realizing she’d actually missed any advantage, her mind only lingered on Roman’s right eye, now replaced by a white flower.
Her breath quickened for a moment, but soon turned cold again.
