“You… you!”
Mailun realized that his verbal assault hadn’t harmed Truth in the slightest— in fact, he could even feel that she seemed to look down on him?
Just like someone watching a clown on the roadside, when he shouted “Disgrace to all priests,” the crowd around them began whispering and chuckling again:
“Wasn’t that little priest the one who worked the hardest to save people in the labyrinth? Look at what Mailun’s saying about her.”
“Good deeds never get rewarded, huh? Truth was clearly the victim from start to finish. No wonder there are fewer and fewer priests every year.”
“Truly despicable. No wonder even someone like Suna won’t associate with him…”
“You all—!”
Mailun completely lost it. He swept a fierce glare across the crowd, scaring them into silence.
Then he pointed at Truth and shouted in frustration:
“I challenge you to a duel!”
At an academy designed to train adventurers, encouraging students to fight and follow the law of the strong was nothing out of the ordinary.
Any conflict could be settled in the dueling arena— and Mailun was a frequent visitor there.
Only today, it seemed he’d picked the wrong opponent. Before Truth could even respond, the surrounding students exploded in outrage:
“Mailun, how can you be so disgusting? You actually want to duel a priest?”
“Even bullying has its limits, right? You’re really gonna duel a priest?”
“This guy really has no bottom line…”
In the academy’s centuries-long history, no one had ever attempted to duel a priest.
Priests usually fought in team battles.
Any normal person would know better than to challenge a priest— fragile, soft-spoken, easy to knock down, and completely non-aggressive.
And yet Mailun had done just that today, so everyone else found it unbearable.
“No bottom line? She’s the one who said something so vile only a demon would say! Don’t be fooled by her cute appearance!”
Mailun desperately wanted to repeat the offensive phrase Truth had just used, to prove his point to everyone.
But when he thought about shouting something that demonic in front of this many people, he chickened out…
The scene was spiraling out of control. More and more people gathered protectively around the already delicate-looking Truth, pointing fingers at Mailun, leaving him completely at a loss.
Then he saw Truth raise her eyebrows at him in a mocking challenge, and the little finger on her tiny hand gave a subtle, taunting wag— pure provocation…
At the same time, inside the academy building, in a research room piled high with ancient stone slabs and relics, Suna lay quietly over a desk, deep in thought.
Sure enough, keeping herself busy was the only way to find peace.
Suna’s teacher had brought back a large number of ancient stone tablets with high research value from the labyrinth.
She’d been trying to decipher them all day— anything to keep her mind from wandering.
And sure enough, the moment she took a short break, a small, cute figure popped into her mind.
Just one glance at her was enough to stir anyone’s protective instincts.
It felt like everything in the world could hurt her.
Like traps hidden in the mist, demons lurking in the city of Deya, or the ever-shifting underground labyrinth…
Then that tiny figure suddenly tiptoed up and planted a gentle kiss on Suna’s cheek, plunging her into an endless sea of tenderness and fantasy:
“Hehe… hehehehe… Wait— this is all wrong!”
Suna shot upright, shaking the thoughts from her head. It was just a little kiss between girls, no big deal!
She admitted that Truth was really cute, but she was still a girl too, so all that kissing and hugging between girls…
Didn’t seem that normal either…
“Ugh, so annoying!”
Suna flopped back onto the desk. Ever since the “forcible kiss” incident with Truth had spread, the way students looked at her had grown increasingly strange.
Some girls even clutched their chests and hurried past her, as if afraid she might set her sights on them.
All of it— thanks to Truth.
And yet Suna didn’t really blame Truth. Was this the power of a first kiss?
Ding-ling— the bell on the research room door rang. A middle-aged man who looked like a teacher entered, carrying several ancient stone slabs in his arms.
“Seriously, what are those students doing gathering like that again? They’ve blocked off the entire hallway— I had to climb in from the other side!”
The newcomer was named Lister, Suna’s history teacher.
“Gathered together?” Suna asked.
“Yeah, apparently that troublemaker Mailun wants to duel some little priest named Truth. It’s so pointless— who duels a priest? Whether you win or lose, it’s just embarrassing.
But that name, ‘Truth’… it feels like it doesn’t belong to our era, you know?”
“That’s because she is the priest I told you about— the one who was sealed for five hundred years!”
Suna panicked and bolted out of the research room at full speed.
She rushed toward the crowd and shouted, “Clear out, all of you!” The command froze the entire scene.
Everyone instinctively made way, allowing her to stride forward and finally lay eyes on the still-lovely and adorable Truth— and the already fuming Mailun.
Suna? Why is she here? Could it be… she still has feelings for me? That thought calmed Mailun almost instantly. His expression settled into his usual cocky, unbothered look, ready to put on his best front:
“Well, well, Miss Suna, to what do I owe the pleas—”
“Truth, come here!” Suna didn’t even glance at Mailun. She simply waved for Truth to follow.
“Oh.” Truth took a few light steps and walked after her, prompting the surrounding onlookers to spiral into wild speculation.
So this is the dominance of the Suho family heiress— forcing a commoner priest like Truth to obey her every word… even sell her body…
No one dared to stop them, and the two quickly disappeared from view, leaving behind an even more furious Mailun.
His jaw clenched so tightly it looked like he might explode at any moment.
The crowd quickly scattered, not daring to provoke him any further.
They knew Mailun’s temper well. As a pampered noble since birth, Mailun had never lacked for anything— including the admiration of many girls.
His parents had always told him that as long as he was strong and outstanding, there was nothing in the world he couldn’t obtain.
But today, Mailun finally realized: the Suna he thought he could win over at any time wasn’t the tsundere his buddies claimed she was. She had never even looked directly at him. All the flattering words around him were just people sucking up.
If it had been someone stronger, more handsome, and more powerful than Mailun who stole Suna away, maybe he could’ve accepted it.
But unfortunately, the one who took her… was a mediocre priest with no notable strengths, in any regard…
And she was a girl!
So ever since returning from the labyrinth, Mailun had been seething with rage.
He’d thought that claiming a rare reward from the dungeon would help him vent, but every time he saw that blade, he couldn’t help but recall the scene of Suna kissing Truth.
In the end, he smashed the Silverlight Blade to pieces.
“Damn it all!!!” Mailun howled at the sky.
Tftc!
