Chang Fei shook his head, glancing at Leng Yin’ning, who stared in surprise, and Kading Che, who stood nervously.
He raised half an eyebrow, scratching his head in dilemma.
“How should we handle this now?”
“Handle what?”
Sebastian tilted his head, feigning confusion at Chang Fei’s words.
Chang Fei’s eyes narrowed to slits.
“Butler uncle, did you freeze just this area’s time or the whole world’s? If it’s just this area, is it the people or the entire space, including them? Isn’t this a bit reckless? Aren’t you afraid some exorcist might notice?”
Sebastian raised an eyebrow, surprised.
“You know what I am?”
“Demon butler?”
Chang Fei ventured a guess.
Sebastian’s surprise deepened.
“How’d you come up with demon butler?”
Chang Fei looked baffled.
“It’s all over anime lately. Don’t demons love dealing with people who’ve got potential to get rich? They love causing chaos, but once a contract’s signed, they execute it perfectly, right?”
“I am indeed an elegant man who completes tasks flawlessly, but could you not compare me to demons? I’m an angel butler.”
Sebastian smiled, nodding slightly.
Chang Fei fell silent, stepping back with an expression screaming, “Oh god, I’ve met a lunatic!”—utterly rude.
Nearby, Lezheng Tingyu chuckled without a shred of dignity.
How could a man in his thirties laugh with such seductive charm?
No, no, that’s an illusion.
A guy this good-looking without money would have a miserable fate.
But seeing this demon—no, angel butler—could it be his magic, er, angelic power that made his calamity dad rich?
If so, could he bribe this angel butler to deal with his scumbag dad freely?
“Hey, Young Master, your thoughts are written all over your face. Your dad, whom you despise, is getting mad—consequences seem serious.”
The angel butler kindly warned Chang Fei, startling him.
Turning, he saw Lezheng Tingyu’s face darken.
Before Chang Fei could speak, Lezheng Tingyu hoisted him up.
“Kid, I can tell from your look you’re looking down on your old man!”
“I don’t have a crude dad like you. My dad should be gentle, understanding, refined, and charitable!”
Chang Fei retorted instantly.
“I don’t know any rude, violent pretty boy like you as my dad!”
“You brat, that sounds like a mother, not a father! What did your mom teach you about judging people? And you dare call me a pretty boy? I built the Lezheng empire single-handedly!”
Chang Fei glanced at Sebastian, who nodded with a smile.
“Indeed. Back then, both I and a demon approached your dad. The demon offered a deal for his loved one; I asked him to abandon his status and start from scratch.”
Chang Fei blinked, eyeing Lezheng Tingyu skeptically.
“No way. A guy like him gave up his family? Wasn’t he just kicked out?”
Sebastian shrugged helplessly.
“As an angel, I responsibly say he only asked one thing of me.”
Chang Fei’s curiosity piqued.
“What thing?”
“To keep his household peaceful while he was busy.”
The angel sighed wistfully.
Chang Fei’s face fell.
Without a word, he grabbed Lezheng Tingyu’s hand, kicked his chest, landed, and stormed off.
Lezheng Tingyu was livid.
“What now? You’re as moody as your mom, always flipping!”
“Go take care of your peaceful household! Why care if I live or die?”
Chang Fei roared, his good mood shattered again by the butler’s words.
Keep his household peaceful?
So he and his mom were the culprits disturbing that peace?
By getting rid of them, Lezheng Tingyu lived blissfully for fourteen, no, fifteen years?
If he was so content, why look for him now?
Chang Fei was furious.
On this alone, he couldn’t stay calm or keep playing dumb.
He and his mom were abandoned, labeled as illegitimate, or worse, some scandalous rumor about being Lezheng Tingyu’s kept child!
He refused to be Lezheng Tingyu’s pawn.
He’d become a perfect Matchmaker God, severing human trivialities and emotions, living freely in this world!
“Congratulations, awakened insight, can learn ‘Faces of All Beings.’”
The Matchmaker booklet’s voice chimed with a genuinely warm prompt, no sarcasm or gloating, offering a chance to lift his mood.
But it didn’t stop.
“Congratulations, touched ten times, transformed ten times, gained ‘Ability Replication.’”
Chang Fei nearly teared up.
Since when was the booklet this considerate?
Why did he feel comforted by it?
But touched ten times?
Was he a statue?
Did each touch come with a price?
How much per touch?
His dignity felt utterly spent!
Why was being a Matchmaker so unlucky?
Was this the Lezheng family’s curse?
If so, he’d cut all ties with that name forever!
Wiping a tear, Chang Fei bolted from the café.
Two steps out, a car hit him, sending him flying.
His mind flashed: *What a scam. Last time I was nearly hit; now as a Matchmaker, they can just run me over with peace of mind?*
The driver seemed clueless.
Spinning in midair, Chang Fei thought, even as a Matchmaker, he could learn some martial arts, right?
With skills like that, he could swap merit for powers to escape these annoying dangers.
“Congratulations, touched by a car once, Ability Replication activated, gained ‘Fierce Impact,’ granting the absolute force and speed of a racing car. Try it now?”
The booklet’s warm prompt made Chang Fei love and hate it.
He landed, rolling to avoid further harm, his mind racing.
This ability could be useful, but using it now?
In public?
He’d look like a lunatic.
No, he had to stay composed.
Glancing back, he saw Leng Yin’ning and Kading Che still frozen, unaware of the chaos.
Sebastian’s time freeze didn’t affect him—probably because of his Matchmaker status.
But why didn’t it affect Lezheng Tingyu either?
Was it really his “powerful bloodline”?
Chang Fei scoffed.
Narcissist.
He needed to focus.
Those matchmaker girls were still plotting.
He’d overheard their plan to pair Leng Yin’ning with his dad, banking on past-life ties.
No way he’d let that happen.
His mom deserved better, even if his dad was a scumbag.
He had to protect Leng Yin’ning and Kading Che’s budding romance.
But how?
The matchmakers were sneaky, and his dad was a walking disaster.
Maybe he could use his new ability.
“Fierce Impact” sounded destructive—perfect for disrupting their scheme.
But he couldn’t just zoom around like a racecar.
Too conspicuous.
Instead, he’d play innocent, as always.
He dusted himself off, ignoring the crowd’s stares, and approached Leng Yin’ning.
“Sister Leng, sorry about that mess. My… uncle’s a bit overprotective. Let’s head to the amusement park like you said!”
Leng Yin’ning blinked, her expression softening.
She nodded, glancing warily at Lezheng Tingyu.
Kading Che, still nervous, chimed in.
“Yeah, let’s go. Sorry, Yin’ning, I didn’t mean to bring extra people.”
Chang Fei grinned, sensing the red string between them strengthening.
Good.
He’d keep an eye on those matchmakers.
If they tried anything, he’d use his new powers subtly.
Lezheng Tingyu, still fuming, followed.
“Kid, you’re not getting rid of me that easily.”
Chang Fei sighed.
This calamity dad was relentless.
At the amusement park, Chang Fei stuck close to Leng Yin’ning and Kading Che, acting the perfect little brother.
He laughed, joked, and kept the mood light, all while scanning for those matchmaker girls.
Sure enough, he spotted them—cat ears, fox ears, lurking near a roller coaster.
They were whispering, holding what looked like a bucket.
Another water prank?
Or something worse?
Chang Fei’s eyes narrowed.
He “accidentally” bumped into a vendor, spilling soda near the matchmakers’ feet.
They squealed, scattering.
Kading Che laughed.
“Nice one, cousin!”
Leng Yin’ning giggled, relaxing.
Chang Fei smirked inwardly.
Take that, matchmakers.
But Lezheng Tingyu was still a problem.
He kept hovering, glaring at anyone who got too close to Chang Fei.
“Stay away from my son,” he growled at a random teen.
Chang Fei groaned.
“Uncle, chill. You’re scaring people.”
Sebastian, trailing behind, chuckled.
“Young Master, he’s just protective.”
Protective, my foot, Chang Fei thought.
He’s a walking PR disaster.
As they rode a Ferris wheel, Chang Fei kept watch.
The matchmakers reappeared, now near the cotton candy stand, plotting again.
He leaned close to Leng Yin’ning, whispering, “Careful, some weird girls are watching us.”
She frowned, nodding.
Kading Che, oblivious, was too busy picking out snacks.
Chang Fei sighed.
This was going to be a long day.
But he’d protect this couple’s red string, no matter what.
Even if it meant sacrificing more of his dignity.
