“Ah…”
“Ah!”
Amid the lush green grass, the bright pink stood out starkly against the verdant backdrop. Both pairs of eyes locked onto it, their reactions vastly different.
Mu Nanqiu looked at the blushing Su Yao with a playful smirk. “Is that your Sofy?”
“I…”
Su Yao choked on her words, unable to muster a response. She wanted to deny it, but the words wouldn’t come.
Seeing her flustered, adorable state, a smile crept onto Mu Nanqiu’s face. She bent down, picked up the Sofy pack, and slipped it into Su Yao’s pocket.
“No need to be nervous. Everyone gets their period.”
Her tone carried a hint of reproach mixed with reassurance, soft and gentle, unlike Mu Nanqiu’s usual cool detachment. But Su Yao, too caught up in figuring out how to respond, didn’t notice the warmth in her voice.
In her panic, Su Yao’s tongue got ahead of her brain. She meant to agree with Mu-xuejie and end the conversation, but instead, she blurted out her inner thoughts. “You’re right. Do you get your period too, xuejie?”
“Well, of course.”
Mu Nanqiu hadn’t expected that response. After a moment of surprise, she found Su Yao increasingly intriguing.
Online, as Teacher SteamedBun, Su Yao was lively, but the internet distorted things, giving only a partial view. In person, Su Yao was multidimensional—vivid and real.
Overwhelmed with embarrassment, Su Yao pressed the “little bread” in her pocket, praying it wouldn’t fall out again.
The memory of touching Mu Nanqiu’s soft legs lingered. She tried not to think about how she’d accidentally felt up the goddess xuejie’s long, silky legs or their warm touch, but it was impossible to forget.
Sneaking a glance at Mu Nanqiu’s slender, black-stockinged legs pressed together, Su Yao’s salivary glands went into overdrive. She swallowed hard, relieved she hadn’t drooled—otherwise, Mu-xuejie would think she was a creep.
*Why isn’t xuejie leaving?*
Su Yao waited for Mu Nanqiu to walk away. Their relationship was superficial at best, and Su Yao was clueless about any deeper connection.
But Mu Nanqiu wasn’t about to let her off easily. With a mischievous glint, she savored Su Yao’s shy demeanor—head lowered, silky black hair veiling half her face, lively eyes flickering under her bangs, lips slightly pursed, clearly nervous.
Her flushed cheeks, still carrying a hint of baby fat, made Mu Nanqiu nostalgic for their soft texture. She wanted to pinch them, cup them in her hands, take a bite!
*So cute!*
Mu Nanqiu raised her hand, tempted to pull the little cutie into a warm embrace, but she stopped herself mid-motion.
*No, not yet.*
Hugging her now would feel good but would likely trigger Su Yao’s defenses, leading to a “runaway” ending.
Taking a deep breath to quell her excitement, Mu Nanqiu said softly, “Su Yao, you haven’t eaten lunch, have you?”
“Uh… no.”
Su Yao hesitated, then nodded honestly. Before she knew it, Mu Nanqiu gently grasped her elbow.
The touch was light—easy to shake off with a flick—but the moment Su Yao felt it, her heart raced with worry. Sensing the gentleness, though, she relaxed.
“Want me to treat you to lunch?”
“Um…”
*She’s asking me? She’s actually asking me?* Su Yao glanced at Mu Nanqiu’s breathtaking face. After being whisked away from the KTV, she’d been a bit scared of this assertive xuejie. But now, she seemed… gentle? What was going on?
*What happened to the ice-queen persona?*
And that expectant look in her eyes—what was that about?
Overwhelmed by Mu Nanqiu’s gaze, Su Yao nodded, muttering softly, “Okay.”
“You need to eat, even if you’re not hungry. It’s a special time for you—take care of yourself. Remember the two things I told you last time?”
With her consent, Mu Nanqiu led Su Yao along the concrete path toward the cafeteria.
At the mention of those words, Su Yao blanked. What had they talked about that day? Oh, right—no drinking and no contact with Hua Mingye.
Those were the two.
Recalling this, Su Yao’s head dipped lower. She wouldn’t dare get involved with Hua Mingye, but the drinking… Mu Nanqiu had told her not to, yet in a small act of rebellion, she’d bought a drink right after getting out of the car, only to knock herself out on the sofa at home.
Mu Nanqiu glanced at her, gauging from her lowered head that Su Yao hadn’t fully heeded her words.
…
The cafeteria’s third floor housed various small restaurants, somewhat upscale but pricey. Su Yao had never been here and was curious, though with Mu Nanqiu sitting across from her, she resisted the urge to crane her neck and look around.
“Here, eat.”
“Thanks.”
Su Yao thought she had no appetite, but the sight of the delicate dishes sparked her hunger. Small-pot dishes were something else.
Holding the warm porcelain bowl of rice, the heat dispelled some of the chill. She picked up her chopsticks, aiming for a mushroom in the soup, but paused midair.
Cautiously, she looked at Mu Nanqiu. “Xuejie, aren’t you eating?”
“I already ate. I’m just watching you.”
Mu Nanqiu gave a faint smile and a gentle look. Su Yao shivered, quickly stuffing food in her mouth and shoveling rice to distract herself from overthinking.
“Slow down, don’t choke.”
Su Yao thought of the person who looked after her in-game—so similar. Though their nickname was just “Mu,” they’d said they were thirty… Glancing at Mu Nanqiu, she asked something odd. “Xuejie, do you have any relatives or friends around thirty?”
“Huh?”
Mu Nanqiu wasn’t used to Su Yao’s leaps in logic. After a second, she caught on and set a trap. “Yeah, I have a cousin who’s thirty. Always holed up at home gaming.”
