Under the moonlight, twenty minutes later, Mole and his group quietly slipped through alley after alley until they reached a secluded warehouse.
Truth continued following behind.
Her payment had now increased to 10 silver coins.
Mole had said that tonight’s job was to quickly and decisively gather intel on a batch of smuggled goods, then strike before their rivals had time to react.
But Truth didn’t care much about that.
What really mattered to her was her own class panel:
【Name: Truth】
【Level: LV.5 (2/101)】
【Race: Human】
【Stats: HP 48, Constitution 52, Mana 99, Intelligence 72, Strength 22, Agility 31, Faith 142】
【Skills: Mist of Healing (Proficiency 35%), Enhanced Perception (Proficiency 1%)】
【Talent: Fogwalker’s Grace (Fusion Progress 5%)】
【Faith Points: 0】
【Available Stat Points: 300】
First, let’s boost Faith:
【Faith increased to: 442】
Now about these Faith Points— what are they used for?
Damn it, after transmigrating, all the beginner tutorials vanished.
Guess I’ll just have to figure things out slowly.
It probably has something to do with the follower system?
Getting people to worship me? But who would worship a priest who hasn’t even reached Tier One?
Truth thought for a moment— actually, there was one person who might…
Herself.
I believe in myself… that should work, right?
I’ll try it once I’m back at the inn. For now, gotta wrap up this “business” with the employer.
Mole was still acting all mysterious— Truth still hadn’t seen his face.
The others, though, had dropped the act and revealed their fierce, thuggish faces.
Then they began whispering to her, trying to curry favor:
“Priestess, if things go south, please have my back!”
“Don’t listen to him, Priestess— save me first, I’ll even pay you extra for healing.” One of them pulled out a silver coin.
“Screw you! You think one silver coin’s enough to bribe someone?”
“Shh!”
Mole raised a hand to silence them.
Moments later, the secluded warehouse was opened, and a cart carrying several crates of goods slowly rolled out.
Several tall, thin strangers followed behind it.
At the front was a young man with glasses.
He glanced at his pocket watch, then smiled toward the shadows where Mole was hiding:
“Can’t believe you guys are actually on time for once— not passed out drunk at the tavern?”
The next second, his glasses were shattered by a punch from Mole, sending him flying back a meter.
“Get ‘em!”
A brawl broke out instantly.
But the other side had come prepared— several enforcers wielding iron rods burst from the warehouse and surrounded the cart.
“Priestess, time to show you’re worth those ten silver coins!” Mole shouted.
“Oh, okay.” Truth began waving her wooden staff, casting Enhanced Perception buffs on her allies one by one, then following up with Mist of Healing to dull their pain…
Ah, what a rush— both XP and proficiency were shooting up like crazy!
As the gray mist of Enhanced Perception entered Mole’s body, he noticed his opponent’s punches seemed slower now, and he could even pick up on the faint shifts in their leg movements.
The next moment, the enemy went for a side kick, but Mole reacted just in time, blocking the attack and sweeping them off their feet.
Totally worth it— a priest worth ten silver coins!
With the buff from Enhanced Perception, Mole’s side quickly seized the cart.
The warehouse crew, realizing things were going south, pulled the emergency flare on the cart.
The peaceful night in Deya City was suddenly pierced by a green signal flare, drawing the attention of nearby patrols.
Seeing this, Mole didn’t hesitate— he started up the cart even though enemies were still aboard, yanked Truth up by her staff, and shouted:
“Stay here and keep buffing us. Don’t worry about anything else!”
With that, Mole and a few others climbed to the back of the cart to fight off the remaining enemies.
Truth sat quietly at the front, watching the cart speed down the nighttime streets, the sound of fierce fighting behind her, while enemy flares continued to light up the sky, exposing their current position.
The whole scene was utter chaos.
“There’s just one problem,” Truth frowned as she looked at the empty driver’s seat in front of her.
“Who’s actually driving this cart?”
She only knew how to kill or heal— never trained in any life skills. Driving a cart? Not a clue.
As the cart hit a downward slope, it began to accelerate rapidly.
Everyone clung to the sides in panic, while Truth held onto her little hat so it wouldn’t fly off.
“Brake! Brake, Priestess! Use that rope in front of you!” Mole shouted.
“Okay.” Truth grabbed the reins of one of the horses and asked:
“How do I use it?”
“Pull it! Pull it hard! You don’t even know how to drive a damn cart?!”
The cart sped up even more. Mole and the others’ heart rates skyrocketed—if they didn’t stop it soon, they were going to crash.
So this is what you get for ten silver coins—a priest who can’t even drive!
Harder? Got it! Truth grabbed the reins with one hand and used just one ten-thousandth of her strength to yank them back and immediately, the horse in front of her reared its head and there was a sharp crack…
Its neck broke!
Boom! Just as the slope ended, the cart tipped over and sent everyone flying.
Crates of all sizes spilled out, revealing high-grade healing potions inside.
Truth, meanwhile, landed gracefully with a backflip, holding down her skirt as she touched down perfectly.
Around her were groaning teammates seeing stars from the crash, and patrol units were already rushing in from all directions.
Arriving alongside them was none other than Earl Suho— Suna’s father!
Because the cart was his family’s, and green signal flares were their standard distress color.
But he didn’t recognize any of the people who’d been on board just now.
Wait, no—there was one familiar face. Suho looked toward Truth standing at the roadside:
“It’s you?”
“Hi~” Truth waved at him, just as a notification popped up before her eyes:
【“Mist of Healing” proficiency increased to 39%, “Enhanced Perception” proficiency increased to 11%, Class EXP +31】
“Did the Guide of the Divine let you out?” Suho asked.
“Yep, he said Suna really missed me.”
“I see…”
If she was allowed out of the containment facility, then this little priest probably wasn’t dangerous.
No wonder his daughter had gone home alone tonight— it was out of character for her to give up on her goals, but now it made sense.
She must have known Truth was going to be released.
Then why was she crying?
“I apologize for ignoring you at dusk— I thought you were a heretic. Once I’ve sorted out this cart situation, I’ll take you back to the estate to see Suna. I’ll make it up to you.”
Suho began directing his men to arrest those suspected of smuggling his property.
Seven suspects were quickly tied up together, including Truth— well, all but Truth, actually.
Where was Mole? Truth scanned the area and spotted a manhole cover off to the side that had somehow been opened.
She twitched her nose and picked up a faint trail of blood moving swiftly through the sewers.
As expected of Mole— vanished in a flash…
“Which one of you is the ringleader?” Suho asked sternly, standing before the group.
Everyone immediately turned to Truth, who stood a short distance away:
“It was her!”
What the hell— this priest was totally part of the heist too!
She was casting skills left and right the whole time! Why was she the only one not tied up?
Truth: “?”
Suho twitched at the corner of his mouth:
“You’re saying this little priest was the one leading the robbery?”
“That’s right!” The group suddenly presented a united front— since Mole had fled, they might as well dump everything on the priest they barely knew:
“She brought us to the warehouse, and buffed us so we could take the cart!”
“Yeah, and she’s the one who escalated everything— she even used that staff of hers to brainwash us!”
“She’s also the one who crashed the cart!”…
Now even Suho was speechless.
A priest who wasn’t even Tier One—robbing, brainwashing, street racing?
“Priestess, is what they’re saying true?” Suho turned back to her.
“Nope, I was just passing by.”
“And the part about brainwashing with a staff…”
“I don’t even have a magic staff. All my stuff was left at the facility. I’ve just been holding a regular stick this whole time.”
With that, Truth casually tossed the stick in her hand onto the ground in front of them with a clunk.
It really was just an ordinary wooden stick…
In this era, five hundred years later, anyone wishing to use magic must equip a proper staff— that was common knowledge.
Clearly, Truth didn’t meet the conditions to use magic.
“Uh…” The group fell silent.
Then how the hell had this priest been casting healing and perception buffs with a stick just now?!
“-ω-”
Seeing the confused looks on their faces, Truth smirked, and quietly flipped them the middle finger.
Tftc!
