“Kakaka! Kakaka!”
A humanoid chaos monster crawled completely out of the corrupted bone dragon’s brain.
It was a half-dragon, half-human creature. Only the head and torso were humanoid; the limbs were shrunken dragon claws and legs, its entire body covered in densely packed bluish-green scales.
That wasn’t all. A pair of dragon wings extended from its back, crooked horns jutted from its head, and its jaw had mutated into a draconic maw. The upper half of its face still vaguely retained human features, but the overall look was chaotic, wicked, and deeply unsettling.
Even the battle-hardened Whale Knights had never seen such a creature. The fear of the unknown gripped everyone’s hearts.
Of course, Samimi only pretended to be surprised. Her face feigned shock, but inside, she was unshaken.
As a transmigrator, she obviously knew what this thing was.
“【Healing Spell】.”
First, Samimi swiftly cast a healing spell on the unconscious Knight King Shaya to save the old man’s life.
He had taken a full blast of the bone dragon’s breath attack and survived. That alone spoke volumes about his sheer toughness—but he was in no condition to keep fighting.
“Damn monster!”
Two Whale Knights charged in and engaged the half-dragon creature.
But this time, they couldn’t gain the upper hand at all.
The half-dragon’s movements were nimble, capable of inhuman reverse-joint flexibility, striking back with vicious, heavy dragon claw swipes.
The most terrifying were its two dragon wings—sometimes acting like spears, other times like sickles, unpredictable and deadly.
“Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!”
Under the flurry of attacks, the Whale Knights could only raise their shields to block, completely unable to find an opening to strike back.
This half-dragon creature was far more dangerous than the bone dragon!
The bone dragon had basically been a big sandbag—its essence had seemingly all been concentrated into this humanoid chaos abomination.
If not for the Sister’s layered defensive buffs, their shields would’ve been smashed to pieces already.
“Fabiana, what are you doing?! This isn’t the time to daydream! You’re a knight, why are you standing in the back? Charge!”
Samimi kicked the dazed Fabiana out of her stupor.
“I… I…” Fabiana blinked and came to her senses instantly.
She saw Samimi standing with her magic tome open, face grave and focused, magic flowing from her like a tidal wave as she strengthened the three fighters.
“What am I even doing?” Fabiana felt deeply ashamed of her hesitation and immediately charged forward, sword and shield in hand, to assist her companions.
“【Shield Bash】!”
The Pure-White Knight raised her Shield of Victory—her most powerful weapon—and rammed the half-dragon with a classic knightly charge.
It worked. The monster staggered from the blow, some of its scales cracking and falling off.
But here lay the real problem: the monster’s entire body was covered in those thick scales, providing defense as tough as the heavily-buffed knights.
Even though the two Whale Knights landed several blows, they couldn’t pierce the scales. That’s why they had to fall back into defensive formations.
“My lady!” Whale Knight Beta cried out joyfully.
“Switch formation—three-point flanking!” Fabiana began giving commands.
“Yes!” Whale Knight Gao responded loudly.
The three of them repositioned into a triangle formation, surrounding the monster from three sides.
Fabiana would attack head-on, while the other two knights launched surprise attacks from the sides and rear. No honor here—just raw tactics aimed at cutting the thing down with relentless sword strikes.
“Fabiana, actually do something this time, don’t just stand around!”
Samimi grumbled from the backline while continuing to heal Knight King Shaya and watch the battlefield closely.
The sharp sounds of clashing steel rang through the forest. The battle was intense and evenly matched. The knights and the dragon-monster exchanged thirty rounds of fierce combat without a clear winner or any real injuries.
It must be said—Samimi’s defensive magic was absurdly strong. The three knights were practically armored tanks.
Though the half-dragon’s attacks were terrifying and precise, it just couldn’t break through the Whale Knights’ ironclad formations.
Meanwhile, thanks to Fabiana’s repeated shield strikes, chunks of dragon scales were now littering the ground.
Give the Pure-White Knight a hundred more rounds and she could take this thing down.
Stall. Just stall.
That was the true essence of the Diarmuid Knight Family.
“No more stalling! My mana is almost gone! We need to end this now!”
Samimi’s shout shattered Fabiana’s fantasy of a slow, grindy victory.
“My lady, without Sister’s defensive spells, we can’t withstand another round of attacks,” said Gao.
“Cover me. I’ll finish it.”
Fabiana finally straightened her spine. No longer timid, she surged forward.
In the past, her party had explosive DPS teammates. She only had to tank while others delivered the finishing blows. But now, she could only rely on herself.
The half-dragon suddenly whipped its scythe-like wings, sending two slashes of icy light through the air.
“【Block】!”
Fabiana instantly raised her shield, which flared with light as it deflected the deadly wings.
“【Pierce the Heart】!”
She saw her chance and lunged—her golden sword driving straight toward the creature’s heart.
The Diarmuid family sword style had always focused on blocking and countering. Be a turtle most of the time, then strike like a venomous snake when the moment comes.
And it worked.
The Diarmuid knight swordsmanship was a dueling art specifically designed for humanoid targets—and this monster, despite everything, was still humanoid. Her attack activated the [Humanoid Slayer] effect.
“Pshhh!”
With a sickening squelch, Fabiana’s full-strength thrust struck home.
The golden sword pierced through the dragon scales and sank in—though only an inch. It hadn’t reached the creature’s heart.
“Hisss… hissss…”
The half-dragon staggered back, dropping to one knee, hissing in a voice that was neither human nor draconic.
Filthy black dragon blood gushed from its wound. Its twisted, tormented face showed that the blow had done serious damage.
Seeing her strike land, Fabiana exchanged a quick signal with the two Whale Knights.
No words needed—they understood each other. All three surged forward again to resume the encirclement tactic.
But just then—
The creature’s lower jaw suddenly stretched wide. A torrent of chaotic flames gathered in its gaping maw.
“It’s charging a breath bomb!” Samimi shouted from the back.
“Scatter!” Fabiana commanded.
The two Whale Knights leapt to the sides, but they were still within the blast zone.
“BOOM!”
The half-dragon unleashed an enormous explosive breath attack!
This wasn’t any ordinary fire spell—this was enhanced dragonflame, devastating in power.
“【Wall of Victory】!”
With no place to run, Fabiana stepped forward instead, planting her feet and raising her shield, activating her ultimate defensive skill.
A phantom wall of pure white appeared before her, a shining fortress in the dragonfire’s path.
“BANG!”
The intense dragonfire slammed into the wall and shattered it instantly.
But the Wall of Victory barely held—just enough to nullify the worst of the impact.
Fabiana was blown back a few steps, but she was otherwise unharmed.
Truly built like a tank—tougher than anyone could imagine.
But…
