“The strength of a magic beast scales proportionally with the size of its host. Among ordinary beasts that fall into demonic corruption, bears are among the strongest and should never be underestimated,” said the old knight Vic, suddenly changing the topic as he noticed the two arguing.
“With Sister’s support spells, we’re certain to win,” added the young knight Gao with confidence.
Hearing the words “support spells,” Fabiana suddenly perked up, finally remembering the real reason she had come here.
It was precisely because the Hero Party’s strength had sharply dropped after losing Samimi’s support magic that she had come to persuade her to rejoin—though she’d rather die than say it out loud.
Since that was the case, wouldn’t it be better to quietly observe Samimi’s support spells and figure out what makes them different? Gather intel and find another priest with similar skills. Problem solved.
It didn’t have to be Samimi. She wasn’t the only priest in the world.
Support magic? It’s not some rare skill—plenty of people have it.
Fabiana consoled herself with these thoughts.
“The monster’s here,” Samimi announced.
The young knight and the old knight immediately spread into formation, drawing their swords and shielding the priestess.
“Left,” Samimi directed.
Everyone turned to look—sure enough, a massive black figure emerged from the bushes on the left. Thankfully, they had spotted it early—it was almost within striking range.
“ROAR!”
A giant black bear over six meters tall charged forward on two legs. With a single blood-red eye on its head and its scar-covered body, it was clear this was a battle-hardened demon beast king with plenty of combat experience.
“【Holy Shield】.”
“【Strength Boost】.”
“【Defense Boost】.”
“【Weapon Enhancement】.”
“【All Attributes Amplify】.”
“【Secret Art – Sanctuary】.”
In a flash, Samimi cast a slew of enhancement spells, chanting rapidly.
She armed the two kingdom knights to the teeth, covering them in glowing effects from the buffs.
She mainly focused on raising their defense and strength—the attributes knights needed most.
Boom! Boom!
The one-eyed demon bear opened with two heavy slaps.
The force could have crushed a carriage, but it was solidly blocked by the knights’ standard-issued shields.
They only took a half-step back—actually managing to withstand the monster’s frenzied assault head-on. It was unbelievable.
Clang! Clang! Clang! Clang!
In the next instant, the two kingdom knights counterattacked. Their swords flashed, and they even chopped off a few of the bear’s claws.
Faced with the knights’ sharpened, magically enhanced swords, the demon bear was forced to retreat, like a wooden log being hacked away. Green-black blood splattered everywhere.
Though their gear and raw stats weren’t outstanding, these were still knights who had fought a Steelback Dragon. Their wealth of battle experience showed.
With Samimi’s buffs leveling up their base stats and enhancing their equipment, their combat effectiveness exploded.
Within five rounds, the one-eyed demon bear was clearly on the losing end.
Covered in dozens of wounds, it could barely fight back and relied solely on its thick hide to hold out. Its defeat was only a matter of time.
“Alright, everyone—let’s finish the bear in one go!” Samimi cheered from the rear. No need to lift a finger herself.
“Why aren’t you buffing me?!” Fabiana suddenly shouted in her ear in protest.
“For an opponent of this level, we don’t need the great Pure White Knight to step in,” Samimi replied solemnly.
In the next second, Knight Gao, as if possessed by a war god, leapt forward and drove his sword straight through the bear’s lone eye. The massive body collapsed with a thunderous crash.
The bear twitched, trying to rise, but old knight Vic rushed in and chopped off its head with a powerful blow, ending the beast’s life once and for all.
“This…” Fabiana tried to say something, but upon seeing that scene, she couldn’t get any words out.
“Much obliged, Sister,” old knight Vic said with gratitude.
He only thanked Samimi and completely ignored the idle Fabiana beside her.
Though none of the local knights said anything outright, they certainly hadn’t forgotten how she had once stolen their battle spoils. Deep down, they looked down on nobles like Fabiana who bullied regional knights.
Hero Party? Just a bunch of noble brats hyped up by propaganda!
“Just doing my job,” Samimi replied.
In truth, the Hero Party had a deeply hidden backstory: all five members were closely tied to the kingdom’s aristocracy.
Some had sensitive identities that couldn’t yet be revealed publicly, so their connections were deliberately kept under wraps.
As for Samimi, being a transmigrator, she obviously knew the setup for each major character.
Let’s not even talk about Samimi herself—an earl’s daughter brought into the group for prestige. Hers was one of the few identities publicly known in the early stages.
Fabiana, on the other hand, was the granddaughter of the Knight King.
The Knight King was a legendary figure whose popularity among the people far outweighed his official rank.
Despite a lifetime of achievements, he remained a lowly “Knight” in rank. This unfair treatment only enhanced his mythic status.
So having his granddaughter in the Hero Party increased the team’s public appeal. For both the power players behind the scenes and the Knight King himself, this arrangement was a win-win.
As for the other three members, all of them were illegitimate daughters of powerful noble or royal families.
Each of them possessed once-in-a-millennium talents.
So their secret fathers figured—why not have them work together and build fame?
Once the Hero Party earned enough reputation, their hidden backgrounds could be revealed, propelling them into the spotlight.
That’s the true nature of the Hero Party. It wasn’t some random group of pretty girls.
Ironically, the most replaceable one in the group was Samimi—the middling earl’s daughter.
Well, not even that anymore. Now she was just some roadside commoner.
“See? We really didn’t need the great Pure White Knight to act,” Samimi added with biting sarcasm, deliberately emphasizing the title.
“You just wait…” Fabiana’s voice trembled with fury, her lips twitching and limbs freezing with frustration. She had never endured such humiliation.
So disgusting! So disgusting! So disgusting! That damn dog Samimi!
She had done it on purpose!
She deliberately withheld buffs from her!
She just didn’t want to support Fabiana! She was taking revenge! Petty little mutt!
And yet… Fabiana couldn’t even point out what exactly Samimi had done wrong. Because… technically, she wasn’t needed.
Usually, if Fabiana felt slighted, she didn’t care who it was—she’d start a full-blown fight. She wasn’t the type to bottle it up.
“Unneeded…”
Those four words pressed down on her like a mountain, suffocating her with grief.
