The first class’s teaching was simpler than An Xiaoyi had imagined.
An Xiaoyi threw on his uniform and rushed out… to the dormitory, then walked straight into the library-like teaching building, standing in front of the platform with a cold expression.
The students attending the new professor’s class were all first-year freshmen.
They were just starting out, struggling with a mix of curiosity and nervousness about this unknown school, and each sat obediently.
He had worried for nothing.
An Xiaoyi was teaching freshmen, not tricky old-timers.
He didn’t need to worry too much; as long as he stood there and did nothing, the students would naturally be subdued.
Recalling his high school first year when a teacher, who happened to be young, made their entrance, An Xiaoyi carefully imitated them, leaving the students with a very strict first impression.
However, the effect was not as desired.
“Professor, Professor! So what’s the difference between old bloodlines and new nobles?” a female student raised her hand.
“I think I was quite clear. The difference is between conservatives and radicals,” An Xiaoyi replied.
“Professor, I have a question,” a short male student stood up and said, “It’s about vampire bloodlines. You just described in a very subtle way how vampires can improve their bloodlines. I’d like to know the details…”
“That’s content from second-year ‘Advanced Bloodline Studies.’ Don’t be too eager to succeed,” An Xiaoyi took a deep breath.
At this moment, a blonde girl stood up.
She had a pair of quite magnificent blue eyes, and her every move exuded an elegant aristocratic aura.
She opened her mouth in English: “Professor… I have questions about the historical curriculum related to the Cambray family’s documents… I’m Farrah Cambray from the Cambray family, and I find some parts of the textbook interpretations difficult to understand…”
An Xiaoyi was stunned for a moment.
Then, with a contemplative expression, he pondered deeply.
Finally,
“This student, in Saint Antiona, please use Chinese, thank you.”
The tall blonde female student calmly switched to fluent Mandarin: “Professor, regarding the Cambray family documents in the history textbook, I believe there are many errors. My name is Farrah, and I am from the Cambray family. I believe I am quite qualified to question in this area.”
An Xiaoyi took a while to react.
This was stepping into someone else’s area of expertise for showing off.
In vampire history, there were always human families that fought against them.
The Cambray family from the Silver Iris Kingdom in Europe was renowned. They were a bishop’s family in the Middle Ages, located in the city of Cambrai in the northern part of the Silver Iris Kingdom, and were a vanguard force against vampires at that time.
“You just said that the second mistress of the Cambray family, Lorraine Raymond Cambray, won through disputes and intrigues using perfume and beauty, and successfully killed the Earl-level vampire, Bell. I don’t think this is correct.”
Farrah Cambray’s cold tone revealed an irrefutable confidence.
“The textbook says so; how would I, a vampire, know?” An Xiaoyi thought to himself.
“Where do you think it’s incorrect?” An Xiaoyi slowly said, “I have to admit that in some areas of knowledge, professors also need to learn from students. I look forward to hearing your better answer.”
“In fact, the second mistress of my family was notorious and had a low IQ; she shouldn’t have been able to use intrigue to win.”
“Then what do you mean?”
“She was aiming to sleep with that Earl-level vampire from the beginning.”
An Xiaoyi was surprised.
Farrah calmly unveiled her family’s dark history.
“She was notorious and never refused anyone, but it just so happened that on that night, two nobodies from the Salvation Party snuck in to try and assassinate the vampire. The final result was that they all perished together, and only she survived.”
At this point, Farrah’s eyes clearly showed disgust.
“That woman lied, claiming she killed the Earl-level vampire herself, using some so-called petty tricks. As for those two nobodies from the Salvation Party, they became blood slaves who were eliminated along with him.”
Finally,
“I am ashamed that she existed in my family.”
The library classroom was filled with a sudden realization; this was indeed a significant dark history for a family.
No one would expect it to be publicly revealed, but this girl from the Cambray family openly admitted it was shameful.
What made it even more shameful for her was that such a person became a legend in history, while the two humans who genuinely deserved to be called legends were relegated to blood slaves in the historical records.
Perhaps those two had also gathered their courage to sacrifice themselves, expecting no reward.
It seemed that this female student, who resembled a European noble, actually harbored a sense of justice and would absolutely not allow justice to be tainted.
An Xiaoyi looked at her and immediately judged that she would be a quite challenging student in the future.
“Thank you for pointing out the error. I will report it to the school to revise the textbook, provided I can do so.”
After a long silence, An Xiaoyi turned to the next page.
At 2 PM, today’s classes ended.
All in all, An Xiaoyi had only taught two lessons.
Students gradually left the library, and he planned to leave last, spending more than ten minutes studying areas that needed attention for future teaching.
To be honest, the basic knowledge of abilities and vampire history were quite simple; there was no need to be as expressive as other professors, telling stories and subtly guiding the students’ thoughts.
Feeling a bit tired, he decided to go downstairs to buy a coke.
He pushed the door open and took a deep breath of fresh air.
“Principal?” An Xiaoyi was surprised.
Standing in front of the door was a young woman, hands in her pockets, with a head of brown curly hair that could only be described as voluminous, and a lazy butler’s uniform.
In her top pocket was an unfinished five-cent bag of soy milk.
Thinking about it now, he realized she didn’t look like a principal at all, but more like a professional bartender in a bar.
Some bartenders talk a lot, chatting with customers to set the mood, and Farrow always talked a lot.
“How was it? First day teaching,” Farrow smiled.
“Pretty good.”
“Pretty good, meaning… not so good, right? Did you encounter any difficulties?”
“Some content was overturned by a student, a girl named Farrah, from the Cambray family. She said that the description and experiences of the second family mistress were all wrong…”
“Oh, the young lady of the Cambray family, she’s quite a strange person.” Farrow had heard of that girl; she didn’t seem to care much.
“A rather stubborn girl.”
“I always feel like she’ll be a lot of trouble.”
“Descendants of demon hunter families are naturally sensitive to vampires. Just don’t actively interact with her,” Farrow said carelessly.
“There are too many geniuses from prestigious families here. Not only professors and enforcers, even students shouldn’t be underestimated. Most students here bring surprises on their first external missions. For example, over ten years ago, three students went on an exploration mission to Neon Country, and guess what? They actually stopped a conspiracy about the awakening of a Duke-level vampire!”
“No way…” An Xiaoyi was too shocked to speak.
“In that three-person team, one student even killed two Earl-level vampires in two consecutive years! It’s just a pity.”
“What, did he defect? Or did he meet Odin?”
“Unfortunately, he fell in love with a young girl and settled down in Neon Country. Now he lives a very fulfilling life, usually doing very simple tasks. Saint Antiona has a special treatment for students: students can choose a better life. We are infinitely inclusive and supportive.”
An Xiaoyi’s eyes widened, “That good?”
“However, whether it’s truly a better life is for us to judge. We conduct systematic data analysis, combining all uncertain factors, and if we ultimately determine the student’s choice is optimal, then the professors and the Enforcement Bureau will sign off and agree.”
Farrow patted his shoulder and smiled.
“In that case, they can leave Saint Antiona and the Enforcement Bureau, but they will still be under lifelong surveillance, on the whitelist. We respect everyone’s choices but will not ignore the potential threat of every ability user.”
