“By the way, what about your parents…”
Lin Mo asked as they made their way toward the supermarket.
“They’ll be fine. Our whole family practices martial arts. My dad and grandpa are incredibly strong-Zombies are no match for them.”
“That’s good…”
Lin Mo smiled, his thoughts drifting to Xiao Ya.
“And… what about your sister?”
Song Xue’er asked at just the right moment.
“I’ll find her,” Lin Mo replied without hesitation.
“Mmm…”
Song Xue’er nodded.
“I’ll go with you.”
Noticing the odd look Lin Mo gave her, she quickly added, “I… I told you, didn’t I? I’m sticking with you!”
“Then what about your parents? Aren’t you going to look for them?” Lin Mo asked.
“How? My parents are in the capital, thousands of kilometers away. Should I fly there?”
“Uh…”
Lin Mo was momentarily speechless.
“By the way, your sister—”
“Shh!”
Lin Mo suddenly cut her off mid-sentence.
Startled, she followed his gaze and spotted two or three Zombies wandering on the road ahead.
Fortunately, the university district in H City was in the suburbs, where the population was sparse, and most Zombies were concentrated in the schools.
Otherwise, there would have been far more than just these few…
Lin Mo quietly led Song Xue’er into a narrow alley, warning her to be careful before gripping his axe and heading toward the Zombies.
Song Xue’er wanted to help, but without a weapon, she didn’t dare engage in hand-to-hand combat with the Zombies.
For Lin Mo in his current state, these mere Level 1 Zombies posed no threat at all.
In just a couple of minutes, he finished them off, and his experience bar rose another notch.
After this encounter, the two fell silent.
Talking would only distract them and risk attracting more Zombies.
In this apocalyptic world, it was better to stay low-key…
The medium-sized supermarket was called Lianshang, not far from the bungalow where Lin Mo and Song Xue’er had stayed the night before.
By around ten in the morning, they had already spotted it.
When they were about ten meters away, Lin Mo stopped.
Supermarkets were always crowded, and the outbreak had happened in the evening-prime time for families to go shopping after dinner.
The place would have been packed.
Which meant… there were likely a lot of Zombies inside.
Taking a deep breath, Lin Mo turned to Song Xue’er.
“It’s going to be dangerous in there. Do you want to—”
“No!”
Song Xue’er cut him off before he could finish.
“Honestly, you’re underestimating me. I’ve trained in martial arts since I was a kid— I’m not some delicate flower. Besides… I already told you, I’m sticking with you. Don’t even think about running away!”
Lin Mo shook his head, half-amused, half-exasperated.
“Fine, fine, have it your way. Just don’t blame me if you get bitten…”
“Hmph! If I turn into a Zombie, you’ll be the first one I bite!”
Song Xue’er shot him a glare.
Their banter faded as they reached the supermarket entrance.
Expecting to encounter Zombies immediately, Lin Mo peered inside from the doorway-but there was no sign of them.
“Strange…”
Logically, after the crisis broke out, people should instinctively run toward the exit.
There should at least be a few zombies around…
“Hmm?”
Just as Lin Mo was feeling puzzled, he suddenly caught a strong whiff of blood, mixed with a faint stench of decay.
Ah, a very familiar scent…
Lin Mo pushed open the door and stepped into the supermarket.
At a glance, he spotted four or five zombie corpses.
