The following scene would be etched into the memories of the staff for the rest of their lives.
Inside the mascot costume, Su Xinran used both hands to control the pectoral muscles and then clamped a pen between them.
“?”
Under the puzzled gazes of the staff, Su Xinran started writing… using her “pecs.”
So weird… Gotta take another look.
The staff wore expressions of “I understand what I’m seeing, but I’m still deeply shocked.”
Though the demon races had their fair share of bizarre types, the staff thought they’d already seen it all.
But Su Xinran still managed to give their youthful naivety a good smack.
Sure enough, in the world of demons, there’s always something stranger than the last.
Thankfully, this was a demon nation—if she pulled a stunt like this in the human world, she would’ve been kicked out ages ago.
Thinking this, Su Xinran continued filling out the form.
Name: Horus.
Race: …Minotaur!
After completely making up the form, Su Xinran handed it over to the staff.
She also passed along the fake ID she had generated using 0.5 points from the system.
“Okay, you’re good to go now. Take this wristband, which is linked to your personal information, and head to the outdoor field.
Just follow the checklist on this form and complete each test one by one.
Each completed test will be recorded in your wristband.”
The staff member handed Su Xinran a light blue wristband, along with a card that described the test procedures.
As she put on the wristband and entered the field, Su Xinran glanced down at the flowchart of the tests.
The physical assessment included: a timed 20km run, a punching test, a throwing test, a 10km freestyle swim and a destructive power test using special abilities.
Pretty standard stuff.
The only one that made Su Xinran nervous was the destructive power test, but in small print it said that those specialized in physical combat could skip it.
The special ability test was just bonus points.
The physical assessment was out of 100 points, and the ability test gave up to 20 bonus points.
For example, if you scored 80 on the physical test and 20 on abilities, your total was still capped at 100.
If you scored 100 in physical and 20 in abilities, the total was still just 100.
So as long as she got full marks on the physical part, she’d be fine.
Su Xinran had full confidence in her exoskeleton’s physical performance.
Seeing the crowd of demons milling around the sports field, Su Xinran suddenly had flashbacks to school fitness tests from her old life.
Stepping into the gymnasium, she saw a faint purple, water-like barrier covering the venue.
Su Xinran reached out her hand—her wristband flashed green—and she passed through the barrier into the interior.
Boom!
Loud explosions and piercing noises filled the air.
Only once inside could she hear the intense sounds of the demons participating in the tests—outside, there’d been no indication of the chaos within.
“Watch out!”
A shout came from behind, followed by a forceful shove on her back.
Su Xinran stumbled forward, losing her balance.
Crack!
A bolt of lightning slashed across the air—just barely missing her.
So close.
If she’d stayed standing there, she’d have been struck.
“Hey! This is the special ability destruction test zone—very dangerous! Don’t stand there!”
From the high observation platform, a winged examiner wearing an invigilator’s vest angrily waved a clipboard while shouting.
“S-Sorry! Things were urgent just now—I had no choice but to push you!”
The speaker was a petite girl wearing a white-violet cape and ivory leather armor, adorned with faint purple stripes.
Below that was a short white skirt edged with purple lace.
She didn’t look very tall—probably even shorter than Su Xinran’s original body.
What stood out were the two cute horns on her head and a thick, white, lizard-like tail twitching nervously behind her skirt.
“Are you okay, Mr. Minotaur…”
Her timid purple eyes looked at Su Xinran as she reached out a pale hand to help her up.
“Ah… I’m fine… I should be thanking you, actually. I accidentally wandered into the special ability test area and almost disrupted your test.”
Su Xinran didn’t take the little girl’s hand—given her current minotaur form compared to the girl’s petite frame, she was afraid that just one tug might knock the girl over.
Su Xinran gently pushed herself up and couldn’t help but be drawn to those exaggeratedly beautiful vertical purple pupils.
They looked just like gemstones… so beautiful…
“Um… is there something on my face… sir…?”
The little girl grew uneasy under Su Xinran’s gaze and took a few steps back.
“Why is Mr. Minotaur… staring at me with his boobs…”
“Pfft!”
Su Xinran nearly burst out laughing…
She had forgotten that her observation slits were located on her chest.
Normally it was fine, but when she stared at something for too long, it made it seem like she was glaring at people with her boobs.
“Ahem! Don’t misunderstand, big brother here isn’t a weirdo… It’s just… just that my chest muscles are too big, I wasn’t trying to be creepy or anything…”
Su Xinran coughed and quickly explained.
But seeing the girl nervously clutching her skirt, she understood that her explanation wasn’t exactly convincing.
“Anyway… I’m really, really sorry!”
The little girl hesitated for a long while, then mustered the courage to apologize and bowed deeply to Su Xinran before turning to leave.
“Mei! Mei! Ke!”
An irritated female voice rang out, and the little girl trembled.
“Ugh… Teacher, please don’t pull my tail… you know how sensitive half-dragons’ tails are…”
The little girl—called Meimeike—wobbled on her feet and whimpered.
The person pulling her tail was the observer who had been wearing the vest earlier.
“You brat, didn’t you hear me calling you to get your score?”
“Teacher? This kid is still a student?”
Su Xinran asked in surprise, his voice muffled through the voice modulator.
“Ah, Mr. Minotaur, I’m not a child! I’m a half-dragon, already over two hundred years old. Though by our race’s lifespan I’m still of student age, if I were from your minotaur tribe, I’d be old enough to be one of your elders!”
The little girl shook her tail free and explained.
“Here, your score. And you, big guy, you came for the test too, right? Want to take the test with me directly?”
The teacher flapped her snow-white wings and looked at Su Xinran.
“Meh… I’m not good with abilities. I’ll pass, thanks.”
Su Xinran waved her off.
While doing so, she sneaked a glance at Meimeike’s score sheet.
5 points—that kind of lightning attack only scored 5 points?
“I’m sorry, teacher… I only got 5 points…”
Meimeike looked down at her score sheet in disappointment, her moist eyes filled with sorrow.
“Well, you’ve made some progress. Even though you still missed the target, the deviation is now within fifteen meters. That’s worth some praise.”
The winged teacher patted Meimeike on the head in encouragement.
Missed by fifteen meters…
Su Xinran sweat-dropped.
“Alright, big guy. Since you’re more of a martial type, I won’t keep you. I’ll get back to work. Meimeike, your test is finished—go ahead and guide this newcomer around.”
With that, she spread her white wings and flew back to the observation platform.
