Chapter 4 : Officer Wang Ya, Shut Up!

Wang Ya suddenly lunged at Su Xinran!

“Uwahhh!”

Su Xinran instinctively raised her hand, the one with the silver bracelet, to block—but by pure chance, the chain of the bracelet intercepted Wang Ya’s bite.

Realizing that this accidental move had temporarily restrained Wang Ya—just like [redacted for unknown metaphor]—Su Xinran didn’t dare hesitate.

She quickly twisted around and used all her strength to pin down the now-mindless Wang Ya.

“Hey hey hey, could you two not play so rough? We’re on duty here!”

came Awei’s sarcastic voice from the driver’s seat.

“Play?! Your boss is trying to eat me!”

Su Xinran shouted back in anger, nearly at her limit—she could feel Wang Ya starting to push her off.

“What?”

The two insectoids in the front seat turned around at the same time—and that moment of distraction led to disaster.

The vehicle suddenly slammed into a giant hand that had appeared out of nowhere in the middle of the road.

The high-speed police car crumpled under the impact.

But the giant hand didn’t stop there.

Like picking up a toy race car, it grabbed the vehicle, lifted it high into the air, and then violently slammed it into the ground!

BANG!

Su Xinran felt her world spin—so much so that her soul almost flew out of her body—then with a jolt, the dislodged soul was stuffed right back in.

The brutal impact left her dazed for a long while.

When she finally managed to open her eyes, she realized the car had flipped upside down, and the inside was a complete wreck.

In the front seat, Awei and Afu were already bloody and unrecognizable.

Right beside her, Wang Ya had a steel rod impaled straight through her abdomen.

Trembling, Su Xinran reached out to check if Wang Ya was still breathing.

“Dead…?”

She couldn’t process it.

Just moments ago, Wang Ya had been arguing with her—and now, she had stopped breathing altogether.

“Are you an idiot?!”

A mechanical voice boomed inside Su Xinran’s head, so loud it gave her a splitting headache.

“Checking the breath of a corpse-beast? Really brilliant.”

“Relax. She won’t die from this kind of injury. You should be worrying about yourself instead.”

The mechanical orb’s tone was hopelessly exasperated.

Only then did Su Xinran snap out of it.

She smacked her forehead—yeah, that was pretty dumb.

She grabbed Wang Ya’s police baton from her belt and used it to smash the already broken windshield a few more times.

With great effort, Su Xinran managed to crawl halfway out of the mangled vehicle.

Thud.

Thud.

Heavy footsteps echoed across the ground, making it tremble.

Halfway out of the car, Su Xinran turned her head toward the source of the sound—and her mouth dropped open in shock.

“What… what is that!?”

A giant—around fifteen meters tall—was approaching, its footsteps loud and slow.

Its single, massive eye locked onto Su Xinran as she emerged from the wreckage, and the titan immediately quickened its pace, reaching out with a hand to grab her!

In that moment of crisis, the cross pendant around Su Xinran’s neck burst forth with a brilliant orange light.

[VALKYRIE WEAPON SYSTEM ACTIVATED!]

The giant lunged forward in three long strides and brought its massive fist crashing down toward Su Xinran.

BOOM!

The earth shook.

Dust exploded into the air.

Debris flew in all directions.

When the dust cleared, a pale blue light shimmered around Su Xinran.

A barrier—like a hamster ball—had formed, shielding her from harm.

She opened her eyes, stunned, and saw the giant clutching its bleeding hand, roaring in fury.

Su Xinran reached out and touched the barrier.

It felt solid, like real glass.

“If that’s the case…”

Su Xinran stood up.

With a push of both hands, the spherical barrier began to roll.

Alright—time to roll her way right out of this battlefield!

Just like one of those water park walking balls, Su Xinran started rolling the barrier toward a nearby building.

“Hey! Are you a hamster, you little brat?! Get back there and fight, kora!!”

The spherical Raphael’s voice bellowed furiously inside her mind.

“I… I don’t have shoes…”

“Truly a product of civilized society!”

Su Xinran, having grown up in a modern world, had never gone barefoot outdoors.

Naturally, she was highly resistant to walking on a dusty, dirty surface.

[Valkyrie Points Shop Activated.]

Raphael pulled up the system’s default interface for her, navigated to the “Daily Essentials” section, and exchanged some points for a pair of round-toe leather shoes, tossing them to her.

“You’re a lifesaver!”

Su Xinran brought the barrier to a halt and sat down inside it to put on the shoes.

“ROOOAAARRR!!”

The giant, clearly offended by being ignored, picked up a massive boulder and hurled it furiously at the barrier enclosing Su Xinran!

The earth shook.

Dust exploded into the sky!

Meanwhile, Su Xinran remained completely unfazed inside her little ball.

She calmly finished putting on the shoes, pressed her finger against the toe to check for space—about a finger’s width—and stood up to bounce on the spot.

“Pretty comfy, actually. The material inside feels pretty premium too. Hey, how many points did this cost?”

“Ma’am, are you shopping in a boutique right now?!”

Raphael raged in exasperation.

“It cost you a precious 0.5 points. Your current balance is 999.5!”

Absolutely infuriating—but as a responsible AI assistant, she still answered.

“Hmm… Well, I’ve got shoes now… but how exactly am I supposed to fight?”

Su Xinran waved her hand.

This barrier was great and all, but she still had no real way to attack.

After all, she was just an ordinary, physically weak girl.

“Electromagnetic Nano-Particle Blade—Draw Sword!”

Raphael shouted.

A flash of white light erupted from the necklace, and a glowing white energy blade appeared in Su Xinran’s hand.

“Whoa… Okay, that’s awesome. But seriously, do you have to yell a move name to draw it? That’s way too cringe…”

Even while admiring the sword, Su Xinran didn’t miss the opportunity to throw in a snarky comment.

“WHAT!?”

A giant angry tic mark appeared on Raphael’s virtual forehead.

With a flap of her wings, she instantly deactivated Su Xinran’s barrier.

“Eh—!?”

Just as the giant was launching another attack, Su Xinran panicked and raised the energy blade.

SSHHHH!!!

A wave of searing heat blasted outward.

The boulder was sliced clean in half as if it were tofu—by the electromagnetic nano-particle blade!

Even the giant’s hand was partially sliced off.

Blood had no time to gush out before the wound was instantly cauterized by the heat.

The scent of burnt flesh filled the air, mingling with the giant’s agonized howl.

“Tsshh…”

Su Xinran shook her hand.

That one slash had nearly dislocated her arm.

Her muscles screamed in protest—she couldn’t even lift the sword anymore.

“Hey, Iron Ball, your cheat is amazing, but… my body’s just too weak. Don’t you have something stronger?”

“Of course I do!!”

Raphael’s voice seethed.

If not for being bound by the Three Laws of Robotics, she’d probably have killed Su Xinran by now.

“Put this on!”

Another flash of light—and a silver heart-shaped choker materialized around Su Xinran’s neck.

Now it was Su Xinran’s turn to suffer.

What the hell is this twisted aesthetic?!
