I saw the signs, felt the shift in her mood, watched her retreat further and further into that tiny glowing screen like it was the only window she had left in a house full of locked doors.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
And I let it happen.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
No—worse.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
I saw it happen.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
And I did nothing.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
“Fucking idiot…”
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
The words leave my mouth before I can stop them.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
Quiet.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
Bitter.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
Like biting down on glass just to feel something.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
I curse myself, again and again, as the memory resurfaces.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
That day didn’t come out of nowhere.
It was built.
Layer by layer.
Stone by stone.
And I helped lay the foundation.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
I could tell myself I didn’t know.
That I wasn’t aware.
That I couldn’t have predicted it.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
But that would be a lie.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
Because I did know.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
Not everything.
Not the whole picture.
But enough.
Enough to stop it.
Enough to try.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
And I didn’t.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
***
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
It started with her needing an escape.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
My sister was always the perfect one.
The golden child.
The backup heir to the family name after their first project, me, crashed and burned.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
And when our parents turned their full attention on her, it wasn’t love.
It was pressure.
Pure, sharp, suffocating pressure.
Like living under a microscope that burned instead of magnified.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
They dictated everything.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
When to sleep.
When to study.
What to eat.
Who to talk to.
What to be.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
Their expectations weren’t rules.
They were chains.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
So she found her own way out.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
She found… them.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting

Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
An online group chat.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
A private server.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
A fandom space hidden behind a cutesy username and a string of emotes.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
It was about the game.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
The game.
The one I’m in now.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
A visual novel she adored. Magical academy.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
Twisted romance.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
Pretty boys with dark secrets and girls who hid daggers behind their smiles.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
I thought it was dumb.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
Cliché.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
Something to roll my eyes at while she fangirled.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
But to her?
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
It was freedom.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
It was a color in a world that only let her wear grey.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
And the people in that chat?
They were the only ones who let her be herself.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
Or so she thought.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
***
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
I found out about it one night when I passed by her room and heard her talking.
Quietly.
Laughing under her breath, the kind of laugh I hadn’t heard in months.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
I knocked.
Asked who she was talking to.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
She panicked a little, but then smiled.
Said it was a group chat about her favorite game.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
I remember teasing her.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
“Damn, you’re really turning into one of those hardcore fans, huh?”
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
She grinned sheepishly.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
“It’s fun. We just talk about the characters and story. Sometimes we write theories and… I dunno. It makes school feel less heavy.”
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
I nodded.
Told her to enjoy it.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
Told her to have fun.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
That was it.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
That was all I said.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
And then I walked away.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
***
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
‘You fucking moron.’
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
I should’ve asked more.
Pressed further.
Who was in that chat?
How did she find them?
What kind of people were they?
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
I should’ve checked.
I could have checked.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
Our parents?
They were clueless.
They didn’t even know what Discord was.
To them, “online chat” meant email.
Maybe a school app.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
But I knew.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
I was the one who lived online.
Who survived in digital spaces.
I knew how fast things got dark, how easy it was for filth to blend in and pretend to care.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
And I still didn’t look.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
She trusted me with that piece of her world, and I… brushed it off like it didn’t matter.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
Let that creep inch closer with every message, every late night, every secret she shared in a space she thought was safe.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
I had a hundred chances to ask.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
A hundred red flags I chose not to see.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
And then that day came.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
And it was already too late.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
***
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
It was a Thursday night.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
I remember because the Wi-Fi kept cutting out, and I was in the middle of reviewing some knockoff Bluetooth speaker for a company that spelled “technology” with an extra k.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
I was already pissed.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
Then she knocked.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
Softly.
Three times.
Like always.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
“Oppa… are you awake?”
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
I took off my headphones and turned toward the door.
There was something off about her voice.
Too small.
Too careful.
I got up, opened the door— And there she was.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
Eyes red.
Shoulders trembling.
Clutching her phone like it had claws.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
She didn’t even try to pretend.
Didn’t smile.
Didn’t joke.
She just walked in, sat on my bed, and stared at the floor.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
“…Areum?”
“I didn’t know who else to tell.”
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
That’s when I knew.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
Something was wrong.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
Really wrong.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
She told me everything.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
How a guy in the fandom chat started talking to her.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
At first, he was just… nice.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
Supportive.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
Too supportive.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
Always complimenting her theories, reacting to everything she said.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
DMing her late at night about the game, then slowly shifting the conversation.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
Pushing personal questions, asking for photos, getting angry when she didn’t reply right away.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
She thought she was overreacting.
Told herself it was probably just someone lonely.
That maybe she was misunderstanding things.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
But it got worse.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
He made fake accounts when she blocked him.
Started DMing her friends.
Threatened to leak things she had said in private.
Said he would tell her parents she was in an adult server if she didn’t keep talking to him.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
She was terrified.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
“I didn’t mean to… I just… I thought it was just a game server, oppa…”
“I didn’t think— I’m sorry. I’m so sorry.”
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
She started crying.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
And I just stood there.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
Frozen.
Dumb.
Useless.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
Until the anger kicked in.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
“Are you out of your mind? Joining random chats like that? Talking to strangers?”
“You know how dangerous that is, Areum! What if he was someone worse?! What if he—?!”
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
I stopped myself before I could yell.
Her shoulders were already shaking.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
I sat down beside her.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
Pulled her into a hug.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
She clung to me like she was trying to disappear into my chest.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
“I’m sorry, oppa… I didn’t want to make things worse.”
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
God.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
She looked so small then.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
So fragile.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
And I…
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
I told her it would be okay.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
That I would take care of it.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
I grabbed her phone.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
Blocked the guy.
Reported every account.
Wiped the app.
Deleted everything.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
I went through every folder, every saved image, every cache.
Made sure nothing was left.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
I remember the look in her eyes.
Relief.
Guilt.
Shame.
All fighting for space.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
And I told her…
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
“Don’t worry, okay? He’s gone.”
“You’re safe now.”
“Just… be more careful next time.”
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
I told her not to worry.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
I told her she would be fine.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
I told her it was over.

Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
I should’ve dug deeper.
Should’ve traced his IP.
Should’ve found out who he was.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
But I didn’t.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
I deleted a few files and thought I had won.

Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
I didn’t know the monster was already inside.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
And I told her she was safe.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
I lied to her.
I didn’t mean to.
But I lied.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
And she believed me.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
Until that dreaded night finally came.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
It happened on a night like any other.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
Our parents were out.
Some corporate party.
Or a networking party.
Or maybe a wine-tasting circle jerk with other equally self-important people.
I don’t even remember what the excuse was.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
They didn’t care.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
Not about us.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
Not about her.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
They just left.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
Left her.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
With him already watching.

Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
I told myself I would rest just for a bit.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
Just for a minute.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
And then I heard it.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
The scream.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
High-pitched.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
Cracked.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
Raw with panic.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
“OPPA!!”
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
My eyes snapped open before my brain even caught up.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
My heart?
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
It detonated.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
I was out of the room in seconds.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
The hallway lights flickered.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
Her door was open.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
And inside—
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
I saw him.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
A man.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
Tall.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
Shadowed.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
Reeking of something rotten.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
Standing over her.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
And my sister.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
She was on the floor, her arm dripping red.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
Blood smeared across her desk.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
She looked at me with wide, terrified eyes.

Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting

Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
Tackled him so hard we both hit the bookshelf.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
Hardcovers and plastic cases rained down on us like hail.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
We crashed to the floor, fists already flying.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
I screamed at her.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
“CALL THE POLICE! NOW!!”
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
I don’t know how I wasn’t dead in the first few seconds.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
Every swing he made was wild, erratic—like he wasn’t trying to fight, just to hurt.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
I got slashed across the shoulder.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
The ribs.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
My left forearm.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
Blood soaked into my hoodie.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
But I didn’t stop.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
I couldn’t stop.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
I had to hold this monster down, keep it away from her.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
We thrashed around like animals.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
He grabbed my hair, slammed my head against the wall.
My vision blurred.
My ears rang.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
My nose broke.
I could feel it; this sickening pop followed by warm, wet pain flooding my mouth.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
But I didn’t let go.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
Fear came in surges each time I saw his knife glisten, yet something in me override that fear.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
I knew I could die, that I would die.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
It was simply a matter of time.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
My cuts weren’t deep, but they did bleed.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
I knew I had to make each moment count.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
So I punched.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
I clawed.
He responded with his own blows, each racking my body with types of pain I had never experienced.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
But I didn’t stop punching.
I didn’t stop clawing.
Kicking.
Screaming.

Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
That’s how long it lasted, maybe.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
But in my head?
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting

Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
I could still hear my sister crying somewhere behind me.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
The world narrowed to him.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
To stopping him.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
To ending this.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
We crashed into the living room.
Furniture splintered.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
Lamps shattered.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
Rugs painted red by a mixture of both of our bloods.
And then—
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
We stumbled out onto the balcony.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
The seventh floor.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
The wind hit us like a wave.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
It roared between the buildings, tugging at my torn clothes and blood-soaked sleeves.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
I could see my sister in the broken remains of the living room, her bleeding arm clutched in her other hand.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
I knew that asshole also saw her.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
His face said it all.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
He could tell I wouldn’t last much longer now.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
That fucking smile on his face.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
So assured that he would get what he wanted.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
I wanted to yell at her to run.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
But my jaw had been clenched shut for so long I couldn’t feel it anymore.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
So I struggled.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
I grabbed.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
Pulled.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
Pushed.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
Locked arms and stumbled, each of us trying to throw the other off balance.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
And then.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
Pain.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
White-hot, blinding pain.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
Different from the slashes.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
Different from the broken nose and teeth.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
My grip on him loosened momentarily.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
I staggered.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
Looked down.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
There it was.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
A knife.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
Buried deep in my side.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
Right under the ribs.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
Near the kidney.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
My body went cold.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
But his face—
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting

Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
That fucking smile.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
Like he had already won.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting

Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting

Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
Should have.

One last breath.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting

I grabbed his wrist with both hands.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
Locked my fingers.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
A kick to his knee with all I had.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
And threw my weight forward.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting

Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
We went over together.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
The railing vanished beneath us.

Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
Gravity swallowed us whole.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
Seven floors of nothing.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting

Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting

Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting

Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
And then.
Escaped\nNewlines\tTabsAnd\BackslashesForTesting
Darkness.
