Before the Great Calamity, the existing races had actually already appeared, and they all dominated regions on the continent.
The Elf race was the same; the kingdom they once lived in was this Ancient Holy City where they now were.
The world tree of the Elves was some distance from here; one would have to go farther north before seeing that giant tree radiating a halo.
Yes, the world tree did not border the Northern Mountains; instead, it was entirely located on the Northern Continent.
The Great Calamity came without warning.
Everyone of every race had thought it was a normal sunset, but when they woke from their Dreams, their surroundings were already filled with all kinds of twisted, mad Monsters, and many people had no idea where they had gone.
The Sun no longer rose, all races fell into tremendous panic, cities were cut off from one another, everyone was trapped inside them, fighting the Monsters that emerged from time to time.
This sudden Disaster caught every race off guard; only the stronger species could endure by relying on individual strength.
At that time, the Elves defended the Royal City to the death, until the second Night, when even more powerful Demons descended, and their living forces were worn down to nothing.
If they kept defending, it was very likely everyone in the city would die there.
To seek a sliver of survival and preserve their own Bloodline, they decided to break out from the Royal Capital and head for the Land of Prophecy.
Enya thought for a moment and said softly.
“Did they make it there?”
“Yes.”
“The problem is, they…”
“Yes, I did not use the wrong word.”
Eliv smiled faintly and toyed with the teacup on the saucer.
“The Elves now are actually not the same as the Elves of the past; one could even say the two are completely not the same race.”
“Is it… because of the world tree? Race?”
Enya seemed to understand.
One thing now known to all was that Bloodline could change a creature’s appearance, and even directly change its race.
The Elves were the same…
Eliv’s gaze was distant. She withdrew the finger that had been pushing the teacup, was quiet for a while, and suddenly raised her head to look at Enya.
“What is my name?”
“Eliv.”
Enya looked at Eliv with slight confusion, not understanding why she had asked that question, but since she had asked, Enya answered her.
Eliv let out a light breath and continued telling the story.
The original “Elves” broke out through the North Gate of the Royal City and charged straight toward the interior of the Northern Continent, making a long journey toward that Land of Prophecy.
But the dangers they encountered along the way were countless; what had originally been a very large group gradually shrank to fewer than 1,000 people, then shrank again to around 100 or so.
Until only the last Female Knight and the sole Crown Heir, the Princess named Eliv, remained.
When they were about to freeze to death in the wind and snow, a towering giant tree blocked the wind and snow, and its flowers radiated light, illuminating the darkness.
“They were the Primordial Elves, or rather the Primordial Forest Elves and Gold Elves.”
At this point, Eliv took another sip of tea.
After listening, Enya nodded.
Princess and Knight, that made sense. No wonder later Elves had almost no males; the first two to receive the Bloodline were women, and continuing that way formed this ecology. She had not expected the Elves to be born this way.
Enya could not help but ponder in her heart.
What about the Dragon Tribe?
The Dragon Tribe was a race with extremely powerful individuals, and for the Dragon Tribe, childbirth required careful consideration, since power would be forcibly split off.
Perhaps because of this, compared with other races, the Dragon Tribe had always been very few in number; that explanation made sense.
Enya did not think the story ended there.
“And then?”
Eliv then said, “The Elves have existed from beginning to end, that is a huge lie. We also received the gift of the God of nature, and only then were we able to continue; the race was changed because of this gift.”
“Can it be understood that the other races are similar?”
“Yes.”
“I see, but what race were they originally?” Enya asked curiously.
At this moment, Vivienne, who had been listening nearby, smiled and said to Enya, “That is actually not important.”
“Human.”
Eliv said it very calmly.
“As expected…”
Enya was not surprised, as she had already guessed.
Bloodline came from all kinds of beings. Eliv said the first era was the Age of Gods, and its end was also a twilight descent.
Did that mean that from that time, the gods split themselves into pieces and merged into the lowly life forms of that time, using power to influence them, dividing the original Humans into various races, such as Elves, Orcs, Dragon Tribe, and so on?
She also thought of Dragon God Alchetea, who had split herself into nine parts.
Enya still had it fresh in memory.
That was, the Black Dragon Pandrake inside Enya’s body had once said a sentence to her:
“How are you so sure that I have been a Dragon from beginning to end?”
Enya still had it fresh in memory; after all, it had happened one month ago…
This meant Pandrake had also once been Human, only having been granted a portion of Black Dragon blood, becoming one of the nine incarnations of Dragon God Alchetea.
And the later Dragon Tribe should be the Dragons once again dividing out portions of power and spreading it, forming Draconic Beasts and half-human Dragon Tribe.
Although the gods had already exited the stage, they had always slept within the blood of all living beings, their sleep perhaps waiting for a chance to open their eyes.
Why did they do this, and what was their purpose?
The first era was too distant, even traceable back to 1,000,000 years ago.
Enya looked at Eliv and asked this.
“Is it okay to say it?”
“Hehe, I am the Mistress of the Elven Kingdom. I will say it if I want to.”
Eliv covered her mouth and laughed.
As the Elven Saintess, within this kingdom of union of church and state, she was the sole ruler, similar to the Emperor of the West Wind Empire. But among the Forest Elves, there was still a group of ancient people.
They were the ones the two Primordial Elves had saved from beneath the Night, and after blood granting they became Elves and served the Primordial Elves.
Later they formed the Council of Ancients, responsible for checking the power of the Saintess and the Empress.
The Elven Kingdom had once had a separation of three powers, jointly governing the entire kingdom.
The Princess became the Elven Saintess, and the Knight became the Gold Elf Empress. Both of them bore children with each other’s Bloodline, becoming the later Blue and Gold Elf groups.
The Authority of the Nature God included not only the Authority of resurrection, but also the Authority of holy light, which had special effectiveness against Demons.
Back to the main topic.
Although Eliv now concurrently held the positions of Saintess and Empress, the Council of Elders still existed.
Although she concurrently held Saintess and Empress, the elders also found it very difficult to check Eliv.
If the elders possibly would not cause any trouble within the tribe, Eliv also did not wish for the Church of Nature plus the Royal Court to break with those people in the Council of Elders and cause a civil war.
