At that moment, sensing Rina’s refusal, the system that had been holding back for so long finally jumped out.
[Kept Little Waste, accept the other party’s rescue invitation immediately, right now, or you will instantly return to a state of lifelong suffering from illness!!!]
The system’s voice exploded in Rina’s head.
It was a near-frantic roar, like a customer service agent who’d been left hanging too long and finally tore off their professional smile.
Rina’s eyebrow twitched.
Here it comes.
She knew it.
This dog system had been quiet for so long, it was definitely building up to something big.
And now, it hadn’t just built it up—it had built it up painfully.
“Screw you, dog system!”
Rina cursed in her mind.
“Did you know someone was coming all along? Did you know this person would come save me?”
“Is that why you were so quiet before—just waiting for today, right?!”
The system didn’t answer her.
But silence itself was an answer.
Rina took a deep breath.
Fine, since the system was so desperate it would rather send her straight back to that hospital bed, it meant she had to go with this woman named Qiansui.
Just as Qiansui was about to speak again to comfort the girl and get her to come along, Rina suddenly lifted her head.
In those sky-blue eyes, the fear and hesitation from moments ago had vanished completely.
“I’ll go with you.”
Qiansui blinked.
“Huh?”
“But—”
Rina raised a finger.
“You have to promise me some things first.”
Qiansui nodded.
Her brain was struggling to keep up with the sudden attitude shift… just moments ago, the girl had been clenching her fists, shoulders trembling, saying, “I’m not going, I’m staying right here,” and now she’d done a complete one-eighty into a little commander issuing orders.
But being commanded in a commanding tone by a little girl made something in a corner of Qiansui’s brain quietly secrete a little dopamine.
Rina ignored the look on Qiansui’s face that screamed “being ordered around is bliss.”
The kidnapper’s reason for punishing her wasn’t “you wanted to leave me”—it was “you chose to leave me on your own.”
The difference between the two was like night and day.
If she ran away on her own, that was betrayal, that was being a “bad kid,” deserving punishment.
But if she was forcibly taken, kidnapped, dragged away against her will, powerless to do anything…
Then she hadn’t “chosen to leave.” She’d only been “forced to leave.”
The kidnapper couldn’t punish her for that.
Rina began muttering to the air, her pace picking up faster and faster, while Qiansui stood by completely unable to get a word in.
“First, I need to make it look like I was kidnapped, not like I ran away on my own.”
“So no personal belongings… I can’t take anything with me.”
“If I bring a change of clothes, that means I was prepared, and being prepared means I ran away on purpose.”
“If I don’t bring anything, then I was snatched up out of nowhere.”
She looked down at the pink-white silk nightgown she was wearing, and the white stockings on her legs.
“I can’t change out of these either.”
“A kidnapped person wears whatever they were wearing. No time to change.”
“If I change, it’ll give me away.”
When Qiansui heard “can’t change clothes”…
She sneakily glanced at those legs wrapped in white silk, and swallowed hard.
“The room can’t be messed up,” Rina continued her calculations.
“Messing it up would look too deliberate. The kidnapper is too smart—she’d see in one glance if it was faked.”
“The room has to stay in a natural state… everything should look like I just spent a normal morning alone at home.”
“Last is the phone.”
Rina suddenly stopped walking, turned to face Qiansui.
Those sky-blue eyes were gleaming with something almost sly.
“The kidnapper said she won’t be back until tomorrow morning.”
“If I send her a message saying ‘I’ve been kidnapped, come save me,’ she’ll definitely rush back immediately.”
“Then my escape window shrinks.”
“But if I don’t send any message at all, that looks abnormal… a kidnapped little girl like me, how could I not beg for help?”
Qiansui opened her mouth, wanting to say something, but realized her brain had already fallen behind.
“So,” Rina held the phone up in front of Qiansui.
“I need her to see that I did try to ask for help… but I was stopped.”
“What do you mean?”
“Use the vampire hunter attack method, and destroy the phone.”
Rina’s tone was like she was stating the simplest logic in the world.
“Not just dropping it and cracking it—the kind where the kidnapper can tell at a glance ‘this phone didn’t break by itself, this was destroyed by some terrifying force.'”
“That way, when she sees the wreckage, she’ll know I really did try to call for help, but I was stopped by a third party she can’t ignore.”
Qiansui looked down at the phone held up to her, then up at the girl.
“Okay.”
Qiansui took the phone.
Afterward, Rina placed the destroyed phone on the sofa…
Not just tossed it randomly, but put it in a spot where she would normally use her phone.
Right by the couch cushion, within easy reach.
A kidnapped girl, before being taken away, had her phone fall onto the sofa during the struggle…
That image was enough to make the kidnapper’s brain automatically fill in the entire kidnapping scene.
After doing all that, Rina stood in the center of the living room, looking around.
This was her “cage” where she’d lived for nearly a month.
Now she was leaving this cage, but she’d left herself a path back.
If this escape failed, she still had this carefully staged kidnapping scene as her defense…
I didn’t run. I was taken.
“Let’s go.”
Rina turned around and walked toward Qiansui.
Qiansui stood by the floor-to-ceiling window she’d shattered.
From the 23rd floor, morning light poured through the gap, the wind whipping her flaxen hair and the hem of her shirt.
She spread her arms, gesturing for the girl to come closer… she was going to carry the girl and jump from the gap on the 23rd floor.
Rina’s steps stopped in front of Qiansui.
She looked up at this woman, whose face still bore the faint red mark from being stepped on earlier, those green eyes gazing at her with a sticky, expectant look.
No.
Disgusting.
Physically unacceptable.
Having skin contact with this woman who had licked the soles of her feet, being held in her arms, jumping from the 23rd floor…
Just thinking about it made her feel sick.
But could she go through the front door?
No.
The front door had corridor surveillance, elevator surveillance—every single one would expose that she “walked out on her own.”
Taking the stairs wouldn’t work either; the stairwells had cameras too.
Hisaki would pull up all the surveillance footage, and if she saw Rina walking out on her own instead of being forcibly taken, this entire kidnapping plan would fall apart.
She had to leave through a route that couldn’t be recorded.
And the shattered glass window on the 23rd floor happened to provide an exit with no cameras.
Qiansui crouched down and reached out her hand.
“I’ll hold you tight.”
Rina looked at that hand extended toward her, took a deep breath, suppressed the physical revulsion, and stepped forward.
