“He wants to devour all the soulfire! He’s trying to resurrect into the Demon God!”
Annabell’s voice exploded in the main hall, her red and blue heterochromatic eyes fixed on the monster that was constantly mutating ahead.
The once-arrogant First Prince Charles had now completely become a puppet controlled by purple-black flames, twisting his limbs and emitting a chilling gnashing sound.
“Absolutely cannot let him succeed!” Rosalind, enduring the pain of cut hair and minor injuries, staggered forward from behind.
This usually dignified and elegant saintess now had determination in her eyes.
She clasped her hands, holy golden light gathering in her palms again.
“If the Great Demon God really resurrects through this, not only us, but the entire continent will face an apocalyptic disaster!”
“Easier said than done. Do you think he’s still that idiot prince now?” Annabell snorted, but the staff in her hand was already raised without hesitation.
‘Not good, really not good! My stats aren’t enough right now!’
“Charlotte, fall back! Hide inside my barrier and don’t come out!” Annabell commanded the girl behind her without turning around.
“But Miss Annabell, I’m a High-rank Mage now too! I can help!” Charlotte shouted anxiously, her face full of unwillingness.
How could she just hide behind and watch the person she had just confessed to risk her life?
“That’s an order! Your half-baked high-rank mana isn’t even enough to fill the gaps between his teeth!” Annabell’s tone was severe to the extreme, but the corner of her eye was always watching Charlotte’s position.
“How arrogant you insignificant ants are… hehehe…”
The possessed “Charles” slowly turned his head, two tongues of fire spitting from his pitch-black eye sockets.
He suddenly opened his mouth, which had already torn to his ears, and a ball of black-purple fire shot at the three like a cannonball.
[Already Distant Ideal City]!
Annabell slammed her staff heavily on the ground, and three thick ice crystal shields rose like city walls.
[Power of the Holy Reflective Mirror]! Rosalind followed closely, a golden light screen attaching to the ice wall in an attempt to reflect the opponent’s attack.
The two completely different high-rank defensive magics melted like snow under the scorching sun the moment they touched the black-purple fireball!
“How is that possible?!” Rosalind groaned, blood spilling from the corner of her mouth as she stared in disbelief at the holy shield that was instantly covered in cracks. “My holy light can’t even defend against a tiny bit?”
“Because that power is on an entirely different level!” Annabell gritted her teeth, frantically pouring mana into her staff to desperately maintain the collapsing ice wall.
Her wrist trembled slightly due to mana overdraw. “What he just devoured were all the soulfires of other fallen gods. His strength has undergone a qualitative leap!”
“Hehehe… delicious, truly delicious…”
The Demon God’s soulfire didn’t even consider these three struggling girls worth its attention.
It waved its hand casually, and a towering sea of purple-black flames swept in like a tsunami, pressing Annabell and the other two into a corner.

Meanwhile, it leisurely walked toward the other scattered embers of soulfire in the main hall.
Second ember… third ember… fourth ember…
With each ember of varying light that it devoured, “Charles’s” body grew a little taller.
The clothes on his back were torn apart, a pair of black fleshy wings covered in bone spikes burst out, and even two curved horns burning with black flames grew from his head.
“Miss Annabell! The ice wall is going to break!” Charlotte shouted from behind the barrier, watching Annabell’s increasingly pale face, on the verge of tears.
She frantically activated the mana inside her, trying to transmit it to Annabell from a distance, but that faint light was utterly insignificant against the towering black flames of the Demon God.
“Shut up! Stay there and don’t move!” Annabell bit her lower lip hard, and bright red blood seeped out again.
Sixth ember… seventh ember!
When the last released ember was swallowed into the Demon God’s soulfire, the air in the entire hall seemed to be instantly drained.
“Kakaka… hahahaha! This Demon God is finally coming back! Foolish humans, pay the price for everything you did back then!!!”
The Demon God howled at the sky, and the terrifying sound waves directly shattered Annabell’s ice wall.
The three were sent flying by the shockwave, crashing heavily to the ground.
A suffocating pressure erupted from the Demon God’s body—it was a domain belonging to a “god,” beyond human comprehension.
The main hall’s ceiling began to collapse. Space itself was twisted and deformed by the terrifying black flames, as if the apocalypse had arrived.
“It’s over… everything is over.” Rosalind closed her eyes in despair.
Against an existence of this level, any resistance was futile.
The Demon God spread its arms and greedily inhaled a deep breath of air filled with despair, preparing to welcome the moment of its complete resurgence and transformation.
Annabell also prepared the forbidden spell scroll. At this moment, this was the last trump card. Thankfully, this thing consumed her own mana, not a one-time use!
And then…
“Gyaaaaaaa!!!”
The next second, the Demon God’s originally arrogant laughter abruptly stopped, replaced by a miserable scream of extreme agony!
Its massive body suddenly convulsed violently. The power of the seven embers it had devoured not only failed to merge but seemed to reject each other, wildly rampaging inside.
The purple-black flames became extremely unstable, flickering on and off, and even seemed to be on the verge of collapse and dissipation.
“What’s going on?! The souls… why can’t they merge?! Why is it still incomplete?!” The Demon God clutched its head in pain, its pitch-black pupils filled with disbelief and terror.
“It’s the Medicine God’s soul… the Medicine God’s soulfire that was scattered back then isn’t in this hall!” The Demon God suddenly realized.
Its eyes, burning with rage, swept around like searchlights, and finally locked onto Charlotte, who was sitting slumped behind Annabell.
The Medicine God’s soulfire inside Charlotte was like a beacon in the night to the Demon God’s perception!
“So it’s inside you, this human! No wonder I almost failed!”
“This Demon God will skin you alive, roast your soul in black flames for ten thousand years, and squeeze out every bit of the Medicine God’s soulfire from your body!” The murderous intent locked onto Charlotte like a physical force, turning her ice-cold and making her breath stop.
“Don’t you dare touch her!” Annabell struggled to her feet, recklessly blocking in front of Charlotte, even though her mana was nearly exhausted.
But she still had a trump card!
At this critical moment, when all hope seemed cut off in despair…
The wall behind Annabell and the other two suddenly emitted a soft and sacred emerald green light.
The originally hard stone wall rippled like water, and a huge light gate appeared without warning…
“This is…” Rosalind’s eyes snapped open.
“It’s the door to the final trial! The Elf King’s Inheritance Grounds!” The old lady in Charlotte’s mind screamed in surprise. “Girl! Heaven never seals off all exits! Go inside! This is the last chance!”
