Along with a cold voice, a graceful figure in a priest’s robe slowly walked out of the mist.
It was the Saintess of the Holy Light Church, Rosalind.
In her hand, she held a pure white thin sword that exuded a sacred aura, her eyes fixed on the twin bond tree in the center of the valley, with undisguised desire flickering in her eyes.
But what made Annabell feel even more disgusted was the way Rosalind looked at her.
In that gaze, there was excitement, fervor, and an inexplicable possessiveness!
“What are you here for, masochist Saintess?” Annabell rolled her eyes and said exactly what was on her mind.
Rosalind didn’t get angry at being called a masochist. Instead, she slightly curled her lips. “Annabell, you’re still as proud as ever. I admire your superior attitude. But I want half of this twin bond tree.”
“Are you dreaming?” Annabell looked at her like she was an idiot. “Why should I share my things with you?”
Rosalind remained calm and spoke slowly.
“Because I can save your life. Annabell, you might not know this yet, but you’ve offended Prince Charles too deeply. He carries a trump card granted by the Imperial Emperor. Once he reaches the next level of the trial, he will stop at nothing to kill you.”
Rosalind paused, her tone becoming enticing.
“Form an alliance with me. Give me the other quota to claim this tree. We’ll form a bond and work together. In this ruins, as long as we join forces, even if Charles has heavenly powers, he’ll only end up dead.”
Hearing this, Charlotte’s face instantly turned pale.
Charles has a trump card? Annabell is in danger?!
Charlotte’s heart tightened. She desperately wanted to form the eternal soul contract with Annabell, but if it would cause Annabell’s death…
“Miss Annabell…” Charlotte bit her lip, her eyes reddening. Forcing back the heart-wrenching pain, she squeezed out a smile that was uglier than crying.
“Maybe… you should agree to the Saintess. I… I have no magic power. Even if I claim the divine tree, I can’t help you against Prince Charles. The Saintess is powerful. If she’s with you, you’ll be safe…”
By the end, Charlotte’s voice was choked with sobs.
She silently stepped back, preparing to give up her place.
“Shut up.”
Annabell’s cold voice suddenly rang out.
Charlotte froze, staring blankly at Annabell.
Annabell didn’t look at Charlotte. Instead, she stepped forward and pulled Charlotte back behind her, like a lioness protecting her cub.
She glared at Rosalind, a frigid light bursting from her red-and-blue heterochromatic pupils.
“Alliance? You’re worthy?”
Annabell sneered, her magic surging, pointing directly at Rosalind.
“I never share what I want! Charles? Who does he think he is? Even if his father came, I’d still punch him!”
“You want this tree? Fine. Step over my dead body to get it.”
To maintain her proud Villainess Young Lady persona and to avoid any connection with this weird, perverted Saintess, Annabell refused decisively.
Charlotte watched Annabell’s domineering back, and tears finally streamed down her face.
‘She didn’t give up on me! She’d rather face danger than push me away!’
Hearing Annabell’s ruthless refusal, Rosalind’s smile gradually faded. It was replaced by a bone-chilling murderous intent and an even more morbid excitement.
“Refusing a toast only to be forced to drink a forfeit.” Rosalind slowly raised the pure white thin sword, and her holy power began to surge wildly, like a blazing sun rising in the valley.
“Since you are so obstinate, I’ll have to use force to make you yield. Annabell, dying under my strongest trump card is your honor.”
Rosalind closed her eyes, pressed her palms together, and chanted an ancient and deadly incantation.
“HOLY LIGHT, TRANSFORM INTO THE BLADE THAT PUNISHES HERESY! THE VOICE OF GOD IS WITH ME!”
“HOLY LIGHT SWORD FORMATION!”
Seven huge swords of solid Holy Light burst into the air, floating behind Rosalind. Faintly, the phantom of an angel could be seen floating. At this moment, the Saintess was like an angel passing judgment.
But Annabell didn’t retreat at all. She even drooped her eyelids.
Looking completely nonchalant, she even had the energy to taunt. “Is that it? Is that your trump card?”
Behind her, Charlotte bit her lower lip lightly, watching the figure with silver hair flying in the Holy Light’s assault. Her gaze was complicated.
The wind howled, and the mist in the valley was instantly blown away.
Rosalind hovered in midair, her cyan Holy Light robe flapping in the wind. Seven huge pure white light swords rotated slowly behind her, each emitting a terrifying and heart-stopping fluctuation.
This was the ultimate killing formation passed down through generations of the Holy Light Church—the SEVENFOLD HOLY LIGHT SWORD FORMATION.
“Annabell, do you know? From the day I entered the Prodigy Ranking, I’ve been watching you.”
Rosalind looked down at Annabell, her cold eyes now burning with undeniable battle intent and fervor.
“Others say I’m second on the Imperial Prodigy Ranking, a once-in-a-century genius. But in my heart, there is only one true opponent—you, the one with the ‘Truth Magic Eye’! Only by defeating you can I prove that the path of believing in the gods is the strongest!”
“Today, let’s settle this here!!”
Defeating you, then…
Rosalind stared at Annabell with fanatical eyes, a chilling light in her gaze.
Behind a large rock, Charlotte covered her mouth tightly to prevent herself from screaming.
‘Th-this woman is so strong!’
‘That’s not a divine technique that a student level could cast! Even I in my past might not be able to do this.’
‘Annabell… please be careful…’ Charlotte prayed frantically in her heart, her palms sweating.
However, facing such an earth-shattering divine technique, Annabell, at the center of the holy power storm, just yawned boredly.
“Are you done?”
In those red-and-blue Truth Dual Pupil eyes, there was no tension of facing a great enemy, only a mocking amusement as if watching a show.
In Annabell’s view, this scene was exactly like the RPG games she played in her previous life.
The hero, after countless hardships, finally stood before the final boss.
The hero gave an impassioned speech, then unleashed an ultimate move, trying to end it in one blow.
So, as the most evil and strongest villain boss of this world, what should she do now?
Of course, she should show a despairing gap in power!
‘If I have to use my second stage, the Myriad Flower Eye, to fight someone at your level, then I’d be too cheap as a villain boss.’
Annabell silently complained in her heart.
She didn’t even lift her staff. She casually stuck it into the ground beside her.
“Rosalind, you said you would use your strongest trump card to defeat me?”
Annabell slightly raised her chin and shook her head in disdain.
“Then I’ll use the most basic magic from the academy to shatter your ridiculous fantasy.”
As she spoke, Annabell moved.
No long incantation, no complex magic circle.
She simply raised her right hand, and a torrent of magic surged out like a mountain flood.
“Let me show you what a real gap in strength is.”
As soon as she finished, Rosalind’s face instantly darkened.
“Hmph.”
Rosalind gritted her teeth, the fanaticism in her eyes turning into anger at being belittled.
“Annabell, who do you think you’re facing? This is a forbidden technique of the Holy Light Church! Even you, if you don’t use all your strength, you’ll only end up dead!”
“Arrogant? You’ll find out soon enough.” Annabell squinted and snapped her fingers.
No long incantation.
No complex magic circle.
Not even a single preparatory gesture.
Annabell simply extended a slender index finger of her right hand, its tip aimed at Rosalind in midair.
“FIRST-LEVEL MAGIC: SMALL ICE CONE SPELL.”
Her cold voice rang out in the valley.
