“How do you feel about Miss Fumier, Xing Ling?”
Yi Shiyue looked at Ye Xingling with some curiosity, wanting to hear her take on that girl.
“Well… she’s nice, I guess?”
Ye Xingling answered vaguely without meeting her eyes.
“Could you be a little more specific? Like her personality, whether you two get along… Since you’ll probably be living close by in the future, if there’s anything that bothers you, it’s better to speak up for everyone’s sake.”
Ye Xingyao took over the conversation and continued.
“Besides, now that everything’s out in the open, we should definitely respect our little sister’s opinion, right?”
“Guh… even if I had any issues before, hearing you say that just made everything disappear,” Ye Xingling said with slight reluctance.
It wasn’t that she had given in, but the sight of her sister clasping her hands together, putting on an expression like an older sister trying to please her younger sibling, and calling her “little sister” with that tone… its power was too much for her to handle.
“Why don’t you call me ‘little sister’ a couple more times? And if you add ‘universally invincible super cute’ as a prefix, I’d be more than happy!”
Ye Xingling, basking in her sister’s affection, was about to let her pride reach the sky.
“Well then, my universally invincible super cute little sister, are you ready to go to school with your seniors?” Ye Xingyao pondered for a moment, then revealed a sly smile.
‘This sister is just too wicked! As expected, whether it’s a brother or a sister, deliberate flattery is just a facade, a trick of comfort!’ Ye Xingling thought to herself after hearing that.
“Oh, right, we’re almost out of groceries at home. What do you want to eat, little sis? Speak up—we’ll swing by the store and pick up some ingredients on the way.” Ye Xingyao slapped her thigh, and as the head of the household, she finally realized the most important issue—dinner.
Hearing that she could pick dishes, Ye Xingling’s eyes immediately lit up. She squeezed between her two sisters and started discussing dinner with them, as if the little rift before had never happened.
At any rate, both of her sisters were absolutely top-notch cooks. A little homebody like her couldn’t bear to leave such wonderful sisters…
Come to think of it, it was really sad to hear from that little girl Fumier that her sense of taste was different from normal humans, and she couldn’t enjoy the delicious home-cooked meals made by her sisters.
Just like more than a week ago, the family bustled and cheered as they bought groceries for the next few days, also roughly planning out most of their meals. The rest were some interesting ingredients left for the two skilled cooks to experiment with on their own.
After returning home, Ye Xingling kicked off her shoes and ran barefoot to her room, throwing herself heavily onto her bed.
The aftereffects of yesterday’s battle hadn’t fully faded yet. The feeling of mana depletion was quite unpleasant. Although today she no longer had that terrible sensation of being completely drained and empty, she still felt a bit weak and her spirits weren’t as high as before.
Ever since she became a magical girl, it seemed like she hadn’t had a good gaming session in a long time.
Ye Xingyao and Yi Shiyue exchanged a smile, sorted through the ingredients they had, set aside what was needed for the evening, and carefully stored the rest in the fridge.
After finishing the temporary work, the two also returned to their room to rest. They had to admit they had gone a bit overboard yesterday.
Time passed quickly. After the girls rested for a while in their rooms, it was time for dinner. After a pleasant meal, Ye Xingling returned to her room full of energy, declaring that today she would rank up her game account.
At Yi Shiyue’s gesture, Ye Xingyao also returned to the room with her, quietly waiting for a letter from Yi Shiyue’s grandmother.
Soon, a soft “tap, tap” came from outside the window. Ye Xingyao looked out. Against the usual starry backdrop that only she could see, a small golden sparrow glowing with mana was tapping on the window. Looking closely, it had a letter clamped in its small claws.
“This is a bird formed from mana, and it serves as the messenger for this spell. When we need to send a reply, we just write it and give it to the bird,” Yi Shiyue explained with a smile. She opened the window and took the letter from the bird. The little bird stood by the window, its lifelike little eyes studying the two girls huddled together.
“This is really interesting… Is this also a type of Elven magic? What element would it belong to?”
The little sparrow had successfully piqued Ye Xingyao’s interest. As someone who had inherited the study of Elven prophecies and magic from her father, she was full of curiosity about this practical and fun little spell.
“This… I’m not sure. If you want to ask Grandma questions, Xiao Yao could try asking her in person?” Yi Shiyue tore open the envelope and smiled at Ye Xingyao.
The image of that white-haired old woman who always grinned at them surfaced in her mind, and Ye Xingyao couldn’t help but smile.
“Let me see, let me see! What did Grandma say? I haven’t seen your grandmother in ages.”
Full of curiosity, Ye Xingyao leaned in, placed her head on Yi Shiyue’s shoulder, nuzzled her twice, and then focused on reading the letter.
Yi Shiyue’s grandmother hadn’t written the letter in the Elven Language, but rather in the common tongue of Zhongzhou. The opening was just about asking how Yi Shiyue’s studies and life were going.
Reading it, Ye Xingyao could almost picture the loving old lady sitting in her chair as she wrote the letter.
“So it was Grandma who told you about the Star Elf,” Ye Xingyao remarked as she read the next paragraph.
“That’s right. When Grandma told me, the guy who threatened me hadn’t contacted me yet. He only found me after that.”
Next, Yi Shiyue’s grandmother asked about the Star Elf’s recent situation—whether she had met the Star Elf, how they were getting along, or whether the Star Elf had been captured by the Human Alliance.
Seeing this, Yi Shiyue lowered her eyes, blinked at the girl resting on her shoulder, and smiled sweetly.
Ye Xingyao returned a smug grin.
Who would have thought that the Star Elf was her childhood friend, and now her lover?
However, Yi Shiyue’s grandmother’s following words made both of them blush involuntarily.
“Th-then, Xiao Yue, what have you been telling Grandma about me all this time…? Why did it even include, um, marriage, and children…?” Ye Xingyao was a bit startled by the old woman’s detailed care. Her pretty face flushed, and even her speech became uncertain.
“You like Xiao Yao that much, just hurry up and get him. Once he grows a bit older, he might start getting unfaithful.”
— The grandmother who had been through it all said.
