An unprecedented sense of humiliation surged through the man’s heart.
Beaten like this by a mere mortal cultivator.
He couldn’t understand it, and he couldn’t tolerate it!
But if he gave Qiao Xiaoxian more time to build up her power, he, a dignified Jiesian, might really fall here!
Sneering inwardly, he abruptly released his Divine Sense, merging it into the rectangular boulder below.
Suddenly, an even more terrifying suction force and chill emanated from the boulder.
Qiao Xiaoxian’s body trembled violently. She felt her Life Force abandoning her like floodwaters bursting through a sluice gate.
Her long-accumulated battle rhythm thus faltered for a moment.
The man in ornate robes seized the opportunity and kicked Qiao Xiaoxian in the side.
Qiao Xiaoxian was sent flying backward, crashing into the Barrier.
The devouring force on the Barrier’s light screen was even more terrifying. Her already dire state from that Immortal Grade heavy strike was worsened by the powerful absorption of the Barrier.
She could only try to keep her body away from the barrier, but an irresistible, terrifying force pinned her down, her back pressed tightly against it.
The man walked over slowly, raised his hand, and in the void used an invisible force to grip Qiao Xiaoxian’s neck, pressing her against the barrier.
Jiang Ke’er rushed over, witnessed the scene, and felt as if something in her chest was about to explode.
Qiao Xiaoxian could feel her Life Force draining wildly.
Jiang Ke’er could feel it too.
Because of the Summoning Contract.
Their Life Forces were shared.
“Hm, Jiang Ke’er, Qing Yi. Finally get to see you.” The man in ornate robes smiled at Jiang Ke’er. “Among the mundane, you stand out. Rare to find something that gives me so much trouble.”
“Let her go.” Jiang Ke’er stood before the Barrier, glaring at the man.
“And the price?”
“I’ll let you do whatever you want.”
She answered without a moment’s hesitation.
Qiao Xiaoxian stared at Jiang Ke’er in shock.
That was an answer she hadn’t expected.
The man let out a derisive laugh.
“I don’t like negotiating with mundane creatures from the lower realm. Besides, there’s no need…”
The man slowly pulled out a dagger.
“I originally thought I wouldn’t have the chance to use this thing.” The man tossed the dagger in his hand, then actually shoved the hilt into Qiao Xiaoxian’s hand.
“Blade of Severing Thoughts.” Qiao Xiaoxian spoke the dagger’s name weakly. “I never imagined it really existed…”
And upon seeing the dagger, she actually breathed a sigh of relief.
“Go ahead.” The man said in a cheerful tone, even temporarily slowing the rate of life extraction.
Qiao Xiaoxian tremblingly raised the dagger.
The moment she gripped the dagger, Jiang Ke’er suddenly saw countless dense white Silk Threads appear before her.
Thread after thread extended from her own body, with the other ends landing on Qiao Xiaoxian.
The threads entangled them deeply, like two butterflies coiled in the same cocoon, living and sleeping together.
Qiao Xiaoxian raised the dagger and gently cut through the threads.
Where the blade met the threads, the threads seemed to lose their vitality, drooping limply, breaking off and falling to the ground.
At that moment, Jiang Ke’er felt a sense of loss.
Her Soul seemed to be released, suddenly becoming much lighter, but what followed… was an indescribable emptiness.
“Stop!”
Jiang Ke’er’s voice trembled.
She knew Qiao Xiaoxian was saving her.
The contract that shared Life Force meant that while Qiao Xiaoxian’s Life Force was being drained, Jiang Ke’er was losing life too.
Before their lives were both drained dry, neither would die. In the end… they would die together.
So the last thing Qiao Xiaoxian could do for Jiang Ke’er was to sever the contract.
Bit by bit, thread by thread, she cut all the contract links between her and Jiang Ke’er.
She had wanted to do this for a long time.
‘I said stop!’
Jiang Ke’er wildly pounded the Barrier barrier.
The rampant power of the Heavenly Demon was released without reservation, but even so, the Barrier remained unmoving.
“Fortunately, you don’t like me.” Qiao Xiaoxian smiled and sighed softly, suddenly feeling relieved. “It’s really good that you don’t like me…”
“The hell it is! I like you a hell of a lot!”
Jiang Ke’er suddenly cried, tears streaming down her face, completely lacking any ladylike grace.
Qiao Xiaoxian was stunned by Jiang Ke’er’s sudden earthy confession.
“Qiao Xiaoxian! You can’t die!” Jiang Ke’er’s Heavenly Demon traits became more and more obvious. She pounded the Barrier wall again and again, speaking with a sobbing voice, “You… you still have to help me steal the nectar of the Cloud Bud Flowers!”
Memories uncontrollably surfaced before her eyes.
Qiao Xiaoxian silently cut the contract threads before her, cutting and cutting, but two lines of ice froze on her cheeks.
She remembered the time Jiang Ke’er was chased all over the mountain by bees.
In the white sea of Cloud Bud Flowers, the little fox yelped in panic as it wagged its tail.
The wind blew waves through the waist-deep flower field, and she ran right across the crests.
Yeah, if she wasn’t around, who would help her pull the stingers out of her face…
“Take it out on me! Don’t touch Qiao Xiaoxian!” Jiang Ke’er made the fiercest expression of her life and glared at the man in ornate robes. “Make her stop!”
“You’re not worthy to give me orders.” The man laughed disdainfully. “Besides, I like watching you mundane creatures in despair.”
“I’ll kill you! I’ll destroy everything you care about!”
“Oh? With you?” The man paused slightly, then concentrated on studying Jiang Ke’er’s current appearance.
He hadn’t recognized it before, but as Jiang Ke’er’s traits grew more pronounced, he began to notice that her state seemed familiar.
“Heavenly Demon?” He grew a bit more solemn.
“Scared? I’m a Heavenly Demon! Qiao Xiaoxian is my Great Heavenly Demon’s wife!” Jiang Ke’er said frantically. “If you dare touch her, I’ll bring my Heavenly Demon brothers to destroy your whole family!”
“Hmph, even a Heavenly Demon is nothing special.” Sensing that Jiang Ke’er’s Cultivation Base was still only the ordinary Seven Luminaries Realm, he immediately relaxed. “You really are worth studying.”
Seeing that threats were useless too, Jiang Ke’er trembled in anger: “Qiao Xiaoxian! Stinky Dragon! I’m warning you, stop cutting!”
“Didn’t you not like me…” Qiao Xiaoxian looked at Jiang Ke’er with a mix of tears and laughter, between sorrow and exasperation.
“Whatever I say, you believe it? Are you stupid?” Jiang Ke’er pouted, speaking with a sob. “I just didn’t want to hurt you. Don’t you understand…”
“Sigh,” Qiao Xiaoxian smiled bitterly. “You had to wait until I was about to die to say that. Couldn’t you have let me be happy a few more days?”
“I didn’t make up my mind until yesterday!”
“You… really…” Qiao Xiaoxian was at a complete loss for words. She cried and then laughed.
Yeah, this was the Jiang Ke’er she loved—like a mental patient.
But I’m sorry.
I’m afraid I can’t be with you anymore…
