Ailiya stood at the edge of the ruins of Ashstone Town.
She had just used the emergency communication talisman issued by the Adventurers’ Guild to send a signal to her old team, calling them to come help.
The remaining magic power of the magic array dissipated in her palm.
“The message has been sent.”
Ailiya put away the talisman, then turned to look at Seraphina, who was recovering her breath behind her.
“It’ll take at least a day, at most two days, for my former comrades to get here. They’re no match for you or me, but they’re more than enough to deal with those platinum-tier magical beasts.”
Seraphina leaned against the trunk of a locust tree. Golden holy light swirled around her body, repairing the lingering injuries from her previous battle.
At Ailiya’s words, she nodded.
“A day is too long.”
“I can feel it!”
“That bloodline power within her is growing weaker by the moment…”
Ailiya fell silent.
She looked at the Sheng Nu’s pale face, creased with worry, and wanted to say something comforting. But her honesty as a swordswoman made it impossible.
Yes. Too long.
No one knew what might happen. Whether that little evil dragon could hold out until reinforcements arrived…
At that same moment.
The clouds in the sky were suddenly torn apart.
Three massive silver figures dove down from the heavens.
Their silver scales reflected a metallic luster. With each beat of their enormous dragon wings, they stirred up a violent gale, sending broken stones and withered grass flying everywhere.
Seraphina’s eyes snapped open.
“The silver dragon clan!”
Her voice was full of wariness.
They rarely interacted with humans. The memory of Yisela being sold off by the Dragon Council of Elders was still fresh in her mind. These silver dragons changed faces faster than a book flips. Who knew what they were here for this time?
But Ailiya didn’t reach for her sword.
She narrowed her eyes, staring at the three silver figures growing closer.
As a genius from the Sword Saint Family, she was more sensitive to killing intent than anyone.
The auras of those three silver dragons were indeed terrifying.
But their killing intent was not directed here.
“It’s fine.”
Ailiya reached out and gripped Seraphina’s tense wrist, her tone calm.
“I don’t sense any killing intent.”
“Their target isn’t us.”
The moment she finished speaking, the three silver dragons folded their wings in unison.
The leading silver dragon shifted back into human form first.
The silver light withdrew. Within that glow, the enormous dragon body shrank and transformed, eventually becoming a powerfully built middle-aged man.
His features were stern and imposing. On his forehead were two backward-curving dragon horns. He wore a silver-gray scale armor robe.
The other two silver dragons transformed as well.
One became a slender woman with silver hair coiled into a high bun, her eyebrows and eyes cold as ice.
The other became a young man, the youngest of the three, with a hint of a playful smile at the corner of his lips.
“Greetings, humans.”
The leading silver dragon spoke.
“I am Orikxis, Deputy Commander of the Third Legion of the silver dragon clan.”
He gave a slight nod, then gestured to his two companions behind him.
“This is my deputy, Sylvia, and our little brother, Zephion.”
The female silver dragon, Sylvia, gave only a cold nod.
Zephion, however, grinned, showing a row of white teeth.
“We are here on orders from the Dragon Council of Elders, to rescue our princess—Yisela Frostscale.”
Orikxis’s gaze fell on Seraphina.
His pale golden vertical pupils flickered with assessment.
“You carry the scent of our princess.”
“Elder Si said to meet with you first.”
The holy light sword in Seraphina’s hand dispersed instantly.
She rushed forward and grabbed Orikxis’s arm.
Joy blazed in her golden eyes.
“Do you know where Yisela is?”
“Take us to her now!”
“Is she still alright?”
Her fingers trembled, tears filled her eyes, but her gaze was blindingly bright.
That urgency was not an act.
Orikxis looked down at this human Sheng Nu.
“The princess is still alive… for now.”
He said slowly.
“But the Dragon God’s bloodline within her is being consumed by the curse.”
“Elder Si said that before long, we will completely lose the ability to sense her location.”
“So her situation is very bad.”
“That curse is draining her life force.”
“We must go as quickly as possible.”
“Have you figured out the enemy’s strength?”
Ailiya’s voice cut in.
She wasn’t as excited as Seraphina. Arms crossed, her red pupils calmly swept over the three silver dragons.
“To set up such a large scheme—mobilizing a diamond-rank death knight and platinum-tier magical beasts, and hiding Yisela right under the noses of your clan—what kind of force is this?”
Orikxis’s gaze shifted to Ailiya.
His vertical pupils contracted slightly.
The aura emanating from this red-haired human woman gave him a sense of pressure.
“According to Elder Si’s analysis, the enemy has at least one combatant at the Diamond Peak level.”
“And—”
He paused.
“A fallen angel.”
“The diamond-rank death knight that appeared on the Borderland before was merely one of that person’s puppets.”
“In addition, there are an unknown number of platinum-tier magical beasts.”
“A fallen angel?”
Ailiya’s brow furrowed tightly.
“Correct.”
“Black wings, pale golden pupils, silver hair.”
“She claims to possess the second authority and is the most capable subordinate of the mastermind.”
Ailiya was silent for a moment, then slowly exhaled.
“Also at Diamond Peak?”
“Correct.”
“A Diamond Peak fallen angel, a bunch of platinum-tier grunts, plus a mastermind hiding somewhere who can create death knights.”
She glanced at Seraphina, then at the three silver dragons.
“This time, the opponents are no small fry.”
“That Diamond Peak fallen angel—only you can deal with her.”
Orikxis admitted it openly.
His gaze landed on Ailiya.
“I sense a Diamond Peak aura from you.”
“And—”
He raised a finger, pointing at the longsword at Ailiya’s waist.
“You are the wielder of the dawn holy sword.”
“To fight an enemy at the level of a fallen angel, ordinary magic power is meaningless. What is needed is a power that can cut through rules.”
“That is an ability only a Sword Saint possesses.”
This silver dragon saw clearly.
“I understand.”
Ailiya took a deep breath, suppressing the complex emotions back into her heart.
“My former teammates are already on their way.”
“Their individual combat strength may not be top-tier, but they cooperate well. They can share the burden of dealing with those platinum-tier grunts.”
“Once they arrive, we’ll move immediately.”
Seraphina suddenly spoke.
“We can’t wait.”
Her voice had regained its calm, but her golden eyes burned with an unquestionable resolve.
“I can suddenly sense the holy light protection on Yisela. Though it is very faint, it is still there.”
“That aura is being suppressed by some force, growing weaker by the second.”
“If we wait any longer, we may never find her.”
She turned to Ailiya, then to the three silver dragons.
“Can you sense her exact location?”
Orikxis closed his eyes.
Silver dragon soul power gathered at his brow.
A few seconds later, his eyes snapped open.
His vertical pupils blazed with golden light.
“Yes.”
“Though it is extremely weak, the princess’s bloodline resonance remains.”
“She is deep within that mountain range, inside an ancient ruin shrouded in dark magic power.”
“Then let’s leave now.”
“Your teammates can catch up later.”
“But Yisela—can’t wait any longer.”
The three silver dragons exchanged glances and nodded in unison.
“Good.”
Orikxis transformed back into a dragon first.
His enormous silver dragon wings spread wide.
Sylvia and Zephion followed suit.
The three silver dragons stood side by side.
“Get on, humans.”
“We’ll give you a ride.”
Seraphina did not hesitate.
Her toes lightly pushed off the ground, her figure floated up, and she landed steadily on Orikxis’s broad back.
But Ailiya did not move immediately.
She stood where she was, watching the silver dragon that turned its head slightly toward her.
It was the young silver dragon named Zephion.
He looked at her with a curious, expectant gaze.
“No need.”
The corner of Ailiya’s mouth curled into a proud arc.
Red Battle Qi erupted from her back, condensing into a pair of burning light wings.
“I can fly on my own.”
Zephion’s vertical pupils contracted slightly, then he grinned, revealing an excited smile.
“Interesting human.”
“Then let’s race. See who’s faster?”
“Enough chatter.”
