“So…”
Anderson covered his forehead helplessly after listening to Eleanor’s explanation.
“You can’t afford the rent, so you have nowhere to live?”
“Mm-hmm.”
Eleanor nodded repeatedly, and Anderson continued.
“And that so-called sister of yours doesn’t actually exist, does she?”
“Right, right.”
Seeing Eleanor nodding like a chick pecking at rice, Anderson finally couldn’t help pinching her cheek.
“Pinch your head! Aren’t you afraid of being caught and sold while sleeping here?”
“Mm-mm-mm…”
With her cheek pinched, Eleanor couldn’t say a single word.
Only after Anderson let go did she pout and explain.
“It’s not because I have no money… In a few days, I’ll just find a new place to stay, right?”
“In a few days, you’ll probably be sold to a black coal mine.”
The more Anderson looked at Eleanor, the more she reminded him of Ainola—especially their poverty-stricken situation.
But thinking it over, Ainola was probably still sticking with that Fengting Association assassin who took her away, so she might be living pretty well right now.
“What can I do then?”
Eleanor said defiantly.
“If you’d just sell your underwear, we wouldn’t be in this mess…”
“You’re still thinking about my underwear!?”
Anderson nearly died from anger at Eleanor.
“Forget it…”
After a moment, Anderson calmed down and turned to Eleanor.
“Come back to the Temple Knights with me. Until you find a new place, you can stay in the church of the Temple Knights.”
“Ah… okay.”
Eleanor thought it over and finally nodded.
It wasn’t that she was desperate or had some scheme in mind.
It was just… the idea of free food and lodging sounded pretty nice, you know?
“Private room?”
“…”
Seeing the girl still making demands, Anderson couldn’t help but smile wryly.
“Don’t worry, it’s a private room.”
“Thank you so much, Chief Justice!”
Eleanor responded with a bright, sunny smile.
This man—he hadn’t changed at all.
Back when she got lost in the forest, covered in blood, he’d taken her in without hesitation.
Truly a good person!
When they returned to the Temple Knights, Anderson pointed to the room next to his.
“This room is for you. I’ll tell the Father here—he shouldn’t have any objections.”
Hearing this, Eleanor’s mouth twitched.
‘You’re a prince of the country—who’d dare to object? Out of your mind?’
But her face remained unchanged as she smiled and replied.
“Okay, thank you for your trouble, Chief Justice.”
“It’s getting late. Go rest.”
Anderson finished speaking and went into his own room.
Eleanor used the key Anderson had given her to open the door.
Compared to Anderson’s bedroom, this one was much smaller.
Just a single room and a bathroom—nothing else.
At least the environment was decent, like a single hotel room.
Eleanor checked every corner of the room to make sure there were no hidden cameras before shedding her disguise.
“Close call… Good thing I woke up fast and turned into Eleanor, or I’d probably be tied up by Anderson again.”
“I don’t know if you’re lucky or unlucky,”
Spark said, appearing beside Ainola.
“If you’re lucky, you woke up and reacted fast enough not to be caught by Anderson. If you’re unlucky… normally, I think running into Anderson under a bridge is about as likely as winning the lottery.”
“I never thought Anderson would be under that bridge,”
Ainola said, breathing a sigh of relief.
She was good at escape, but not when she ran directly into someone.
“Still, isn’t this good?”
Spark couldn’t help but laugh.
“At least you have a place to sleep now.”
“That’s true.”
Ainola lay on the bed.
After being startled awake, she had no sleep left.
She tossed and turned for a long time without dozing off.
So she sat up and disguised herself as Eleanor again.
Although most of the Temple Knights’ grounds were off-limits, there were still areas where nuns and other clergy could walk.
Eleanor planned to go outside for a walk and also find the location of the Shrine.
But as Eleanor stepped out, a figure followed her.
Seeing this, Spark warned, “Ainola, be careful—someone’s behind you.”
“Of course I know.”
How could Eleanor not notice the person behind her?
She even knew who it was.
Lewis, the Temple Knight who served under Anderson.
What was he doing following her this late at night?
Maybe Anderson ordered him?
Eleanor wasn’t sure, but she had to act like she knew nothing and head to the Rear Garden.
“Not sleeping in the dead of night… extremely suspicious.”
Lewis frowned and carefully followed Eleanor.
After several days of investigation, he found that this girl had too many suspicious points.
First, her origins were unclear.
He could barely find any information about where Eleanor lived.
It was as if the girl had appeared out of nowhere—extremely suspicious.
Even though most refugees were like that, Lewis thought Eleanor’s demeanor didn’t match a refugee commoner.
If she were a refugee commoner, she wouldn’t be so pretty.
Having actually seen disaster victims, Lewis knew very well the physical and mental state of the lower class.
How could she have changed so much in just five months as a nun?
Eleanor seemed more like a noble girl than a commoner.
On high alert, Lewis watched every move Eleanor made.
If he saw anything off, he would immediately apprehend her.
“She pulled out a piece of paper?”
Was she recording some secret information?
Lewis felt a surge of killing intent, and his knight’s sword was already half-drawn.
But after waiting for a long time, Eleanor didn’t look around at anything.
She just scribbled something on the paper, took out a very cute envelope, and slipped the paper inside.
Then she sealed it with a beautiful rose sticker.
Seeing this, Lewis thought of something and muttered.
“Is that… a love letter?”
