The next day.
Li Chi finally arrived at the Dark Organization headquarters to report in.
The first thing he did upon arriving was to send the magic crystal core of the monster brother to the medical department for repairs.
He should have done this yesterday, but after suddenly hearing the voice of that “resurrected corpse” elf, a whole series of events unfolded. Reviving this hard-working monster brother had been pushed completely out of his mind.
Fortunately, the moment Li Chi woke up today, he remembered it and hurried over to the Dark Organization ahead of time.
“Yo, isn’t this Dark Fang? What brings you here so early today?”
As he passed by his good brother’s office, White Lion just happened to walk out.
However, his condition didn’t look too good.
His face was deathly pale, the dark circles under his eyes incredibly heavy. Anyone who didn’t know better would think Xiao Qi had possessed him.
White Lion was shirtless, his exposed skin and joints covered in bandages and medicinal plasters.
His normally sleek and stylish hair hung limp on his head. A long strip of tattered cloth was wrapped around his waist. Judging from the color and stripes, it was from the tracksuit he usually liked to wear the most.
The White Lion at this moment had completely lost his previous elegant, powerful aura. He looked more like a refugee who hadn’t slept in days.
His steps were shaky as he made his way over to Dark Fang and greeted him.
“You… okay?”
Dark Fang was startled by White Lion’s appearance. He was about to ask with concern about his condition when, the moment he got close, a thick stench of sweat mixed with a trace of blood assaulted his nose.
“Holy shit! What is that smell?! What the hell have you been doing these past few days?!”
“It’s nothing. I just locked myself up for a few days of hardcore training. You go rest first. Once I clean up, we’ll go see Black Dragon together.”
“Alright, but… hold on a second.”
Dark Fang pinched his nose and placed his hand on White Lion’s bandaged chest. A stream of golden electricity traveled down his arm into the other man’s body.
White Lion felt a sudden warmth surge through him. The injuries caused by four days of excessive training were recovering at an astonishing speed.
“Thanks.”
White Lion’s complexion improved noticeably. After thanking Dark Fang, he clenched his fist and carefully assessed his body’s condition.
“This battle-damaged look is pretty unique. It suits you.”
Seeing that White Lion was fine, Dark Fang joked, though he still kept a bit of distance.
“No matter how hard you train, you have to take care of your body. Your body is your capital. Overdoing it will only leave you unable to keep up.”
“Alright, alright, I got it. Why do you sound like some old nanny?”
“Hey, I don’t like it when you put it that way!”
Dark Fang rolled up his nonexistent sleeves, ready to demonstrate a Severing Technique right then and there.
“Move it. We have actual business today.”
White Lion wasn’t the type who couldn’t take a joke, but today there really was important business—and it was about the business trip Lina had mentioned before.
“I’ve already given you the rough details through Lina earlier. Spatial rifts might appear in Qian Tan City soon. When they do, the scale of anti-humans showing up there will be several times larger than in Canghai City.”
The mention of anti-humans immediately energized Dark Fang.
“Spatial rifts? What the heck are those things?”
So far, Dark Fang only knew he had to go on a month-long business trip. He had no idea what the actual purpose was.
“Spatial rifts, well… You can think of it as the skin of a fruit suddenly cracking due to external erosion. Bacteria will seize the chance to sneak in, and it might end up spoiling the entire fruit.”
White Lion gave Dark Fang a very vivid explanation.
“Applied to our world, it basically means the walls of the world suddenly develop small cracks for some reason. The anti-humans who have been watching covetously from outside might take this opportunity to launch a massive invasion.”
Dark Fang nodded. Although it sounded serious, when he thought about it carefully, it seemed to amount to just that.
The anti-humans strong enough to break through the world wall and enter had decent power. The main reason magical girls struggled against them was the anti-humans’ extremely high magic immunity. If they used a different energy system, the situation would flip instantly.
But Dark Fang wasn’t relying on magic power right now. His own strength alone was enough to crush those guys.
As for the anti-humans who couldn’t even break the world wall, how strong could they really be?
Of course, that was only for the members of the Dark Organization. If left unchecked, the magical girls of Qian Tan City would probably face complete disaster.
The magical girl from the previous armed conflict incident was a perfect example.
“Let’s go. It’s still early. Hurry up and take a shower. Even I can barely stand the smell on me.”
White Lion tore a discolored bandage off his body, frowned as he sniffed it, then tossed it disgustedly into the nearby trash can.
“You go find Black Dragon first. We’ll go over the specific details once all the executives have gathered.”
After instructing him, White Lion headed off toward the dormitories.
The unpleasant mixed smell of sweat and blood still lingered in the air. Although Dark Fang’s keen sense of smell could filter it out, he didn’t want to stay there a second longer.
He never found the smell of anti-humans this unbearable when killing them. Just what had White Lion experienced these past few days?
When Dark Fang reached the door to Black Dragon’s office, a faint melody echoed softly down the entire corridor.
“Toward the light🎵~ Toward hope🎵~ For a better tomorrow🎵~ We dedicate our youth🎵~”
Though the volume was low, he heard it clearly.
The moment Dark Fang placed his hand on the doorknob, an ominous premonition suddenly washed over him for some reason.
The instant he pushed the door open, Dark Fang regretted it.
“If there is no kindness ahead🎵~ Then unfold the Star of Hope⭐~ Use light to illuminate every heart~ Yeah yeah yeah yeah~”
In the center of the office, Nun Loli hopped and bounced along to the incredibly catchy music, showing off her dance moves. She looked adorable and full of lively spirit.
Behind the little loli, the man in black armor, the silver-haired youth, and a very familiar muscular young man were copying her dance steps, twisting their bodies awkwardly.
The scene was so beautiful it made you want to pop your eyeballs right then and there so your white blood cells could explode the damn things.
In Dark Fang’s eyes, there was a cute angel dancing and singing joyfully on her own personal stage under everyone’s attention. Behind her were two monkeys who hadn’t gained sentience yet and one gorilla so black it couldn’t get any blacker, mimicking human poses in a bizarre ritual dance.
“Yao Shangxing? Why are you here?”
Dark Fang looked at the muscular young man doing the otaku dance and voiced his confusion.
Yao Shangxing was Li Chi’s classmate and desk mate, a hardcore fan of magical girls, the quintessential shut-in otaku. His physical condition was quite impressive, though still that of an ordinary person. For some reason, he had suddenly taken leave right before summer break, and no one could reach him during that time. This was the first time Li Chi had seen him since the vacation started.
However, none of the four people in the room paid him any attention. They were all lost in the wonderful dance and melody.
“We are not alone🎵~ Before light envelops the world🎵~ No one will stop their steps🎵!”
As the music hit its climax, the four of them suddenly paused.
Just as Dark Fang was about to remind them, the final peak of the song rang out.
“World🎵! We are all your lovers🎵!”
Vivian moved, completing the final pose.
She placed both hands over her chest, forming a sweet heart shape, then flashed an adorable smile and gave a sweet wink.
The three grown men behind her did the exact same thing—placing their hands over their chests to form sweet hearts, followed by incredibly creepy smiles and what they clearly believed were adorable winks.
Dark Fang: “…”
He reached up, pulled the pair of red compound eyes off his face, and crushed them in his hand.
