“Mmm-mmm——”
Ling Xiaoyou wiped her face with Bai Shuanglian’s towel, then looked at her still delicate and adorable reflection in the mirror. Satisfied, she nodded her little head.
‘Yeah, I’m still this cute today!’
Thinking this, she happily pushed open the bathroom door and walked out.
“Bai Shuanglian, let’s go eat at the restaurant? Bai Shuanglian?”
Receiving no response, Ling Xiaoyou looked around in confusion, but found no sign of Bai Shuanglian.
“Strange, where is she?”
She scratched her little head in confusion, then heard the front door’s handle turning. She looked over and saw Bai Shuanglian walking in from outside, holding something that looked like a lunch box.
“Done washing up? Breakfast is ready. I already went to the restaurant to pick it up.”
Bai Shuanglian smiled at the confused Ling Xiaoyou, walked toward the dining table, and raised the lunch box as she spoke.
“Huh, you made a special trip to the restaurant?”
Ling Xiaoyou followed beside Bai Shuanglian, glanced at the lunch box in surprise, then nodded her little head and said:
“Thanks.”
Bai Shuanglian unwrapped the packaging, placed breakfast on the table, and said:
“No need to say thanks. We don’t have to say things like that between us.”
Ling Xiaoyou sat down at the table and looked at the breakfast. She was surprised to find that it was all her favorite foods.
She smiled sweetly, picked up her chopsticks, grabbed a small soup dumpling, and began eating.
Bai Shuanglian sat across from her and joined in enjoying breakfast.
“Mmm-mmm…”
While eating, Ling Xiaoyou chatted away with Bai Shuanglian:
“Bai Shuanglian, you will never guess what dream I had last night!”
“What dream did you have?”
Bai Shuanglian smiled and asked, playing along.
“It was a very strange dream.”
Ling Xiaoyou put on a deliberately serious expression and said:
“I dreamed that the world we live in turned into a huge ocean, and we were living underwater, and we had never seen what sunlight looked like.”
“Oh? So we turned into fish?”
Bai Shuanglian raised an eyebrow and asked.
“No, we turned into robots.”
Ling Xiaoyou shook her little head.
Bai Shuanglian: “?”
“Why would we be robots if we live in the sea?”
She looked at Ling Xiaoyou in confusion, tilting her head.
“Mm, I don’t know. Maybe…”
Ling Xiaoyou pinched her smooth little chin in thought for a moment, then said uncertainly:
“Robots can survive anywhere, so it makes sense that there’s a robot population in the sea, right…?”
“I guess.”
Bai Shuanglian shrugged helplessly and took a sip of congee.
“Ahem, after all, it’s a dream. No matter how strange the settings are, it’s normal.”
Ling Xiaoyou also felt her dream was a bit ridiculous and cleared her throat awkwardly before continuing:
“So anyway, in my dream, because we were all robots living underwater, our bodies kept rusting, and we had to constantly upgrade and replace parts.”
“If that’s the case, why not just stop living underwater…”
Bai Shuanglian thought helplessly, but continued to follow along, asking:
“And then what happened?”
“After that, while I was changing parts, I found you, Bai Shuanglian.”
Ling Xiaoyou said as she gobbled down the last half of a tea egg.
“Me?”
Bai Shuanglian glanced at the half-eaten tea egg in Ling Xiaoyou’s hand and said:
“Probably because your whole body was corroded, you only had your head left.”
“…That’s pretty pitiful for me.”
Bai Shuanglian smiled helplessly and placed a custard bun in front of Ling Xiaoyou’s mouth, letting her take a bite.
“Well, it doesn’t matter!”
Ling Xiaoyou said somewhat indistinctly while chewing:
“After I found you, I rebuilt a body for you. Although there were some small flaws because of insufficient materials, you recovered and we lived happily together.”
“…Are you trying to say that in your dream, I became even smaller and cuter than you?”
Bai Shuanglian glanced at her and said.
“Hehe, it’s a dream after all. Anything can happen.”
Ling Xiaoyou stuck out her tongue and expertly acted cute.
But Bai Shuanglian wouldn’t fall for that. She sat down next to Ling Xiaoyou, then rubbed her cheeks, making Ling Xiaoyou’s soft little face change shape in her hands.
After breakfast, Bai Shuanglian and Ling Xiaoyou cleaned up the table, then left the room to head to the competition venue.
Yesterday, they had already agreed to go together today. Even though they ended up sleeping together later, that didn’t stop them from going to the venue together today.
As for the other members of the Ghostly Resentment Office and the other Bai family members, they had all been eliminated already. Going or not didn’t make any difference; the most they could do was cheer for the two.
But even if they were going to cheer, why not do it in the audience stands, where the view was better and the space was more open?
So since that was the case, it was better for everyone to go separately, without any formal procession. It wasn’t like they were elementary school students.
Honestly, Ling Xiaoyou preferred setting off with Bai Shuanglian, strolling slowly to the venue and window-shopping along the way. How free and comfortable! As long as they weren’t late.
The two chatted as they walked, soon arriving near the venue. Then Ling Xiaoyou spotted two familiar figures coming into view.
It was the Su sisters.
From the direction they were walking, it was obvious they were also coming to participate in the next round.
“Good morning, Su Lihua and Su Taosheng.”
Ling Xiaoyou and Bai Shuanglian walked over to the Su sisters and greeted them.
Then Ling Xiaoyou looked curiously at Su Taosheng, who was loaded down with bags, and then at Su Lihua, who had empty hands, and asked:
“Are you two already shopping this early?”
“No way, I’m too lazy to get up this early!”
Su Lihua shook her head and said.
“Huh? Then what about your sister?”
Hearing this, Ling Xiaoyou looked at Su Taosheng in confusion. Were the things on her actually luggage, not shopping purchases?
“They’re shopping purchases.”
Su Lihua said.
Ling Xiaoyou: “?”
Then why did you say you weren’t shopping?
“I just said we weren’t shopping this early.”
Seeming to notice Ling Xiaoyou’s confusion, Su Lihua explained:
“Actually, ever since we parted ways with you that night, we’ve been shopping nonstop, and only came back now to get ready for the competition.”
As she said this, she puffed out her chest. Her flatness, even a bit flatter than Ling Xiaoyou’s, made the latter look at her with sympathy.
But Su Lihua didn’t notice Ling Xiaoyou’s gaze and continued:
“Ah, this…”
Ling Xiaoyou looked at the bags and packages, then at the Su sisters, nodded her little head, and said approvingly:
“Then you really love shopping!”
