Perhaps geniuses always think differently—that’s how the people around could only console themselves.
And that cocky young man was instantly successfully depressed, falling into a state of self-doubt—’You’re trash, then what am I?’
The Human Squad Leader smiled.
“Let’s hope we don’t encounter any Xubeasts on this route… Speed up, it’s getting dark. We need to rendezvous with the other teams as soon as possible—there’s strength in numbers.”
Obviously, there was more than one team sent to lure and capture the Demons.
The prison cart sped through the forest, the wheels producing only a faint creaking sound under the effect of the shock-absorbing spell.
“Ahead is a high-risk zone, the territory of a Super Great Ruins King. Everyone, bear with it and keep quiet.”
Everyone was tense; even the talkative Tiger Clan uncle temporarily shut his mouth.
Roar—
Rumble—
Accompanied by a roar and a loud crash, Jiang Ke’er personally witnessed a mountain peak in the distance collapse with a thunderous crash!
Everyone’s face turned pale in an instant.
“Dammit, it’s awake! Fly!” the Human Squad Leader said harshly.
“Wait!” the Tiger Clan uncle quickly dissuaded.
“It doesn’t seem to have noticed us. That thing seems to have another target. We’d better not fly into the sky and reveal our position.”
Reminded by the Tiger Clan uncle, the Human Squad Leader also noticed that the direction of the collapsed mountain peak was not toward them, but completely opposite.
“That’s… Brother Nian’s team!” the Human Squad Leader realized, and then said without hesitation, “Brother Nian, you won’t die in vain. We’ll carry on your will and live on for you! You’ve worked hard—you’re a hero!”
He finished speaking and then took off running.
“How can you humans be so realistic?” the young man mocked discontentedly.
“Would you go back and save him?”
“No, hurry up and run. Run faster.”
The Human Squad Leader curled his lip, grabbed one handle of the prison cart, and ran wildly. The cart’s speed had reached a point where the wheels could barely hold up.
Jiang Ke’er saw that the Tiger Clan uncle and the young man were being jolted so much they started looking like glitching figures, their bodies leaving afterimages.
“Damn!”
However, the cultivator in the distance called “Brother Nian” seemed unwilling to give up hope of survival.
He pulled the prison cart into the sky, and like lightning, led his team charging frantically toward Jiang Ke’er’s location!
And right on his tail, a gigantic monster shaped like a python was chasing relentlessly, flattening countless trees along the way, rapidly approaching this spot!
The giant python moved extremely fast, faster than the flying cultivator. Trying to escape by running was clearly hopeless.
The Human Squad Leader gritted his teeth, and together with his team, pulled the prison cart into the sky, shouting to Brother Nian not far away: “Hold on a little longer! If you make it to the rendezvous point, there’s still hope!”
That Brother Nian, drenched in sweat, nodded with difficulty.
Rumble, rumble, rumble…
The entire forest was nearly flattened by the giant python. Looking from above, it was as if a black, winding river was chasing them—a terrifying scene.
Hss—
Just as Jiang Ke’er turned to look, that “river” agilely leaped up and bit toward Brother Nian’s prison cart!
The prison cart shattered with a loud crash.
Fortunately, the Demon captives were all concentrated in the front part and weren’t bitten.
Then the great snake landed on the ground, smashing a snake-shaped crater, and with an angry roar, resumed its relentless pursuit of the teams.
The Demons who had regained their freedom wanted to scatter, but before they could act, Jiang Ke’er called out to stop them.
“It’s getting dark, and you don’t know the real direction of the town. Running off randomly will get you killed too. It’s better to stay and try together to scare it away—there’s strength in numbers!”
That was indeed true.
Although terrified, those Demon captives quickly assessed the situation and flew along with the group.
Jiang Ke’er could already see the other teams gathering ahead, but they clearly didn’t want to face the troublesome big problem on their tail.
Those teams unhesitatingly scattered in different directions.
Jiang Ke’er’s team also wanted to split and run, but the giant snake was too close.
If they continued to show it their backs, they would only end up being swallowed in one bite.
Looking at the giant snake up close, Jiang Ke’er finally understood why cultivators here never hunted alone.
Even the strongest individual strength was insignificant before such a massive Ruins King.
This giant snake could swallow fifty of her in one bite. Even if she attacked with all her strength, she could only leave a superficial scratch on it.
“Into White Mountain!” the Squad Leader shouted.
Not far away stood a huge mountain, its entire body a ghastly white, gleaming under the sunset.
When the giant snake saw that mountain, it instantly became agitated. It began to roar repeatedly and unsparingly sprayed venom into the sky.
The dark green venom instantly destroyed half of the prison cart Jiang Ke’er was in, burning the cart’s structure into black charcoal.
Jiang Ke’er narrowly dodged the venom, almost getting hit in the eye by a flying droplet of poison.
The Squad Leader pulled the prison cart into a sudden dive, crashing headfirst toward White Mountain—or rather, toward a large cave in the mountain.
Sizz—
“Watch out!”
Another spray of venom.
The Tiger Clan uncle suddenly broke his handcuffs, pulled Jiang Ke’er and the young Demon behind him, and deployed a Spiritual Power barrier to block the toxin.
The barrier sizzled as it corroded.
The Tiger Clan uncle’s face turned pale instantly, his veins bulging as he outputted Spiritual Power at full force, sparing no effort.
The Spiritual Power barrier was corroding rapidly; he had to continuously output Spiritual Power to keep up with the corrosion rate and prevent the venom from burning through.
Then, accompanied by a loud crash, the prison cart slammed into the edge of White Mountain’s cave, shattering on impact.
Jiang Ke’er and the other Demons in the cart were thrown into the cave.
Brother Nian’s team also stumbled into the cave right after, tumbling to the ground in disarray.
“Don’t let your guard down! Quickly find some cover and hide!”
The Tiger Clan uncle said, quickly pulling Jiang Ke’er and the young Demon behind a white rock.
Seeing its prey that was almost in its mouth hide away, and being too big to enter, the giant snake could only furiously spray venom into the cave to vent its anger.
Fortunately, the Tiger Clan uncle had the foresight to take Jiang Ke’er to cover… It seemed he already knew this snake’s behavior pattern?
“This is the Ruins Snake God,” the Tiger Clan uncle said, pulling Jiang Ke’er and the young Demon down low.
“Just hearing the word ‘God’ in its name, you can probably understand how powerful it is… It’s one of the several Super Great Ruins Kings of the Realm of No Regret. Its strength far surpasses ordinary Xubeasts and Ruins Kings. Since the Realm of No Regret was created, it has never been killed. When you encounter it, you can only hide.”
“Why can’t it be killed?” Jiang Ke’er asked, puzzled.
The Tiger Clan uncle laughed at the question.
“Need to ask? Because we can’t beat it!”
“Indeed, it’s not easy to deal with,” Jiang Ke’er frowned in thought.
“Don’t think about unrealistic things like ‘become famous in one battle.’ Think about how to survive the present,” the Tiger Clan uncle said with a bitter smile.
“This is the Ruins Snake God’s territory. Although White Mountain can be used to temporarily hide, for the hundreds of years since the Ruins Snake God appeared, we’ve all spent time hiding in White Mountain… But the Ruins Snake God holds a grudge fiercely. Once it sets its sights on you, there’s no telling how long you’ll be trapped.”
“And, it’s getting dark,” the Human Squad Leader said worriedly, looking outside the cave.
