The next morning, faint sunlight streamed into the Great Canyon, stronger than in the Dense Forest Sea.
But with all the illegal buildings crammed in, the light that made it through was still very limited.
“Ah, that feels good!” Fabiana woke from meditation, her aura surging, her entire presence elevated to a new level.
“Not bad.” Samimi sat on a stool, legs crossed, speaking lazily. “They gave us the cold shoulder yesterday, and now they expect us to go find him? I want him to come to us.”
“What are you planning?” Fabiana asked.
“Just take action. We’ll guard you. Hit anyone you see, smash any stall you see. Make it so they can’t do business, and they’ll naturally come to you. But don’t go too far—no killing.” Samimi ordered calmly, her expression icy.
“And that’s not going too far?” Fabiana said with a bitter smile.
“When dealing with people from Black Street, only brute force works.” Samimi said flatly.
“[White Ghost Army].”
Fabiana obeyed without hesitation, immediately channeling her power as Samimi instructed, summoning a horde of pale, undead knights.
Samimi watched as the already faint sunlight outside was gradually swallowed and dispersed.
No wonder they had to wait until daytime to act—it was to use the contrast of sunlight, maximizing the horror effect and making everyone witness the terror of this power.
“Night has fallen. Begin the slaughter.”
Meanwhile, on the other side—
With slightly curled bangs, wearing a jet-black trench coat, purple leather pants, and matching boots, a ghost-head pattern printed on the coat,
A bold and flamboyant assassin girl walked down the street, her hairstyle sharp and tidy.
If Samimi saw her, she’d definitely say one thing: That’s cool. She loved this chuunibyou style.
The Gold Medal Bodyguard by the street saw her and, as if recognizing an old acquaintance, immediately forced a smile and opened the door. Clearly, she had a special relationship with the people here.
The girl’s pupils had a strange gradient color, radiating a delinquent vibe.
Boom!
The door burst open.
Outside, it didn’t look too crowded, but inside was a different world—it was a bar. Even this early in the morning, it was packed with people, the atmosphere noisy.
“Veronica, you’re back?” the bartender at the counter greeted her.
“Shut up! Where’s Dixius?” the girl, called Veronica, asked angrily. Even a passing dog would get cursed by her.
Veronica charged straight upstairs, kicked open the boss’s office door, and barged in.
Inside, a burly, bald, muscular man stood up abruptly. His attire was similar to Veronica’s—same black trench coat style.
The bartender and customers just laughed, clearly used to her temper.
“Veronica, what do you think you’re doing? Don’t you know the rules?”
“Boss.” the bartender whispered a warning from the doorway.
Clearly, they were from the same faction.
“Dixius! What kind of partner did you assign me? That bastard betrayed me! Stole my stuff, ripped off my money, and pushed me into a trap!”
“Don’t blame others. Are you a first-time assassin? Do I need to teach you this?” Dixius retorted.
“Dammit! I’m going to kill that noble lackey!” Veronica spun in place, furious.
“You’re not cut out to be an assassin. You still have a lot to learn. Don’t let hatred blind you. We serve the employer. We earn their money for revenge—we are not avengers. Know your place.” Dixius said earnestly.
“So you’re telling me to swallow this? What will people think of us later?” Veronica roared.
“It’s about what they think of you, not us. Don’t confuse the organization with yourself. We are middlemen; you’re just one of our assassins.” Dixius said coldly.
This was exactly why Black Street had survived for so long.
If it were the noble factions outside, they’d have gone to war over face alone.
But the boss here was extremely rational—never impulsive, never blindly expanding. Even if his own people were bullied, he wouldn’t easily retaliate. Stability and development came first.
However, Veronica clearly couldn’t adapt to this cold-blooded rule.
Since the boss wouldn’t help, she’d take revenge herself.
“Boss! Veronica! It’s bad! Something’s happened!”
Just then, the bartender rushed upstairs in panic, shouting.
“What is it? Can you be any louder?” Dixius frowned.
“Outside… the sky… it’s dark!”
Dixius walked to the window, pulled open the curtain, and found that outside was pitch black. Even the Magic Street Lights had already turned on.
He leaned out to look at the sky above and saw rolling black clouds, like a coiled Black Dragon.
Dixius was stunned—he had been here for decades and had never seen anything like this. The Great Canyon was always a place with plenty of sunlight.
But this was just the beginning.
The truly eerie part was yet to come.
On the streets of Black Street, a thick Freezing Fog suddenly spread. Black Sand began to coalesce, and one by one, dark knights materialized out of thin air, quickly occupying every corner of the street.
All the merchants and customers froze, completely clueless about what was happening.
And while everyone was still in shock—
“Kill!”
Bang! Bang! Bang!
The Black Knights charged out, attacking everyone indiscriminately, hitting anyone they saw and smashing any stall they encountered.
But the people of Black Street weren’t ordinary either. They quickly organized a counterattack, engaging the knights in combat. The entire Black Street turned into a chaotic mess in an instant.
At first, the assassins had the upper hand—the knights’ individual combat strength wasn’t particularly high.
But the problem was—they could revive infinitely!
Gradually, one by one, the assassins on the street were knocked down, battered and disheveled, losing all face.
Black Street’s face was utterly ruined today.
When the Black Knights couldn’t win in direct combat, they simply continued smashing and destroying, completely annihilating the entire street’s businesses. Even the owners were dragged out and thoroughly beaten.
Today, no one would do business! No one would make money!
In the end, only a few middlemen’s strongholds managed to hold on.
They hid inside their respective bases, holding their ground, not letting the Black Knights break through.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
But the Black Knights wouldn’t let them off. They kept ramming the doors from outside, determined to force everyone out.
