“Are you not feeling well?”
The voice of the Sovereign of Rules was like crushed stardust, low and carrying the unique weightiness of a Law.
He was suspended, seated behind an ancient-looking desk, his gaze falling upon the figure slumped not far away on a gilded sofa.
That was the Sovereign of Time. Once, her form was wreathed in fragments of countless ages, an existence whose very breath could stir the flow of time and space. Yet now, she lay wilted and sunken into the sofa. Her magnificent robes were crumpled in a heap, and even the strands of hair she usually kept meticulously groomed hung down in disarray, making her look both disheveled and utterly drained.
The Sovereign of Rules’ perception was exceedingly sharp. Even though the Sovereign of Time was desperately trying to maintain a facade of calm, he could clearly detect the disorder within her aura.
It was a void left behind after the Law of Time had been forcibly torn and stripped away—like a perfect, uncut jade that had a corner brutally gouged out.
The Sovereign of Time lifted her eyelids. Those eyes, capable of piercing past and future, reflecting billions of epochs, were now as dim as dust-covered stars.
She feebly waved a hand, her voice carrying the exhaustion of one who had narrowly escaped disaster, mixed with a touch of helpless, bitter amusement.
“Good news… the future has changed quite a bit.”
The Sovereign of Rules raised an eyebrow but didn’t respond.
A “good news” that could make the Sovereign of Time look like this most likely hid some truly terrifying “bad news” behind it.
Sure enough, in the next second, the Sovereign of Time’s voice dropped lower, carrying a tremble of lingering fear.
“The bad news is, that Dominator of Life was driven even more insane by anger. He slaughtered all the other Dominators, then used Living Law to turn half of the Laws into pseudo-Dominators completely loyal to him, directly blocking off the future for everyone else. The other one, relying on the Law that commands everything, seized control of the other half.”
At these words, even the fluctuations of Law around the Sovereign of Rules abruptly stilled.
Slaughtered all other Dominators?
Used Living Law to breed pseudo-Dominators?
This was sheer madness!
The birth of a Law Dominator was originally the result of the convergence of countless opportunities and the autonomous nurturing of the world’s Laws. The birth of each Dominator signified the sublimation of a realm, a difficulty comparable to carving out new space-time from chaos.
But that Dominator of Life… he could actually forcibly “animate” a Law? Turning cold, unconscious Laws into pseudo-Dominators with independent thought and absolute loyalty?
This had already surpassed the limits of all Dominators’ understanding of Laws.
As for the Law of Command… the previous generation died too early and never displayed any great power.
“If both sides weren’t temporarily too busy to act, they’d probably be trying to reverse causality right now, attempting to destroy each other from the past.”
As she spoke, the Sovereign of Time shuddered, as if recalling some terrifying scene. “I took a stealthy peek from across seven or eight worlds and almost got stewed by a pseudo-Dominator who fused the Laws of Alchemy, Time, and Space, called Taishang Laojun.”
“Fusion of the three Laws of Alchemy, Time, and Space?” The Sovereign of Rules’ voice finally carried a ripple of emotion.
A pseudo-Dominator of a single Law was already outrageous enough, but a fusion of three Laws?
This was practically a desecration of the purity of Law!
“That old guy was holding a Bagua furnace. The furnace was burning with the Fire of Time, its walls engraved with spatial runes. He kept muttering, ‘This child has extraordinary bone structure, perfectly suited to be refined into a Nine Revolutions Golden Elixir.'”
The Sovereign of Time spoke, shrinking her neck back with lingering fear. “I just glanced at him, and he immediately locked onto my temporal trajectory, almost dragging me into the furnace across all three dimensions—past, future, and present. If I weren’t still a pure Dominator, I’d probably already be a puddle of golden liquid in that furnace, with not even a trace of consciousness left.”
The Sovereign of Rules fell silent.
The Law of Alchemy was inherently the most domineering Law, excelling at refining all things. Coupled with the enhancements of Time and Space… that was practically an unsolvable combination.
“Went back to check the future, and I found out I’m a thing of the past.” The Sovereign of Time sighed, her tone full of powerlessness. “I can no longer travel to the more distant future.”
She propped herself up on the sofa armrest, struggling to sit upright. Her fingertip traced through the void, and a translucent phantom of the River of Time unfolded before her.
But the river that once allowed her to roam freely now seemed frozen. The further it extended toward the future, the murkier the waters became. At the very end, it was completely entangled by dense, interwoven chains of Law. At the ends of those chains were dozens of figures radiating terrifying auras—precisely those pseudo-Dominators.
“The future has already been stripped bare of the Law of Time by several dozen pseudo-Dominators.” The Sovereign of Time’s voice carried bitterness. “They’ve broken the Law of Time into fragments and fused them into the cores of their own Laws. The entire temporal dimension of the future has become their hunting ground. If I dare show my head, I’ll be instantly locked down, without even a sliver of time to mobilize the slightest bit of temporal power.”
This kind of playstyle was something the Sovereign of Time had never even dreamed of.
She always thought that conflicts between Dominators were about high-tier Laws crushing low-tier ones, a one-on-one pinnacle duel.
But who could have predicted that the madman would pull a move like “mass-producing pseudo-Dominators”?
Everyone had underestimated the Law of Life and the Law of Command.
These two Laws simply had no upper limit.
A single pseudo-Dominator might not be a match for a pure Dominator, given the purity of the Law.
But what about ten? A hundred?
The saying ‘enough ants can kill an elephant’ applied even at the level of Dominators.
“Those animated, personified pseudo-Dominators that have fused multiple Laws… are just too abstract.”
Remembering the fighting style of those guys made the Sovereign of Time’s scalp tingle.
“They’d lock down time the moment they saw me. If they found they couldn’t lock me, they’d directly lock down space. Then, without a word, a whole group would swarm up and start refining! Completely unreasonable!”
Pseudo-Dominators of the Alchemy Law excelled at refining all things.
Pseudo-Dominators of the Space Law could seal the void.
Pseudo-Dominators of the Time Law could freeze an instant.
With several dozen such beings joining forces, even a true Dominator would meet their end.
“If I hadn’t prepared in advance, leaving countless clone anchors in the River of Time, I’d probably be a pill by now.” The Sovereign of Time patted her chest, looking genuinely shaken.
She slumped back into the sofa, gazing toward the upstream direction of the River of Time. That direction connected to the past, to an era not yet gone mad, to the “culprit” who had caused all of this.
Although she didn’t know the specifics, it didn’t take a genius to figure out that someone must have messed up again.
Really…
The Sovereign of Time rubbed her temples, a surge of frustration welling up inside her.
‘Do I have to teach her personally?’
‘Or was my previous education not good enough?’
‘It’s all my fault for being too lazy.’
With a thought, a wisp of temporal power quietly seeped out, probing toward a certain node in the past.
She wanted to see exactly which step had caused things to veer so completely off track.
When she saw the scene from yesterday, the Sovereign of Time nearly laughed in exasperation, the temporal fragments around her vibrating angrily.
In the image, that little one who controlled the Law of Command had taken the Life Dominator’s little fox kit to some so-called Stellar Orbit Amusement Park.
And calling it a date? Was that a date?
That was walking a dog!
Clearly wanting to be nicer to Su Yun, yet she kept a cold face the whole time, speaking stiffly. The little fox kit was trembling all over, not even daring to look up at the stars.
On the carousel, she forcibly picked him up and placed him on it.
Eating dessert, she pinched his chin to force his mouth open.
Entering the haunted house, she nearly scared Su Yun out of his wits.
In the end, what should have been a nice date turned into a scene of someone’s massive breakdown.
The Sovereign of Time sighed deeply, holding her forehead. She wished she could crawl up the River of Time, knock open that little one’s head, and see what was inside.
‘Commanding Law, Commanding Law… commanding hearts is also part of the Law of Command! If you can’t even coax a little fox, how do you expect to command everything?’
‘You’re practically disgracing the Law of Command!’
“Don’t worry about those few. Wait until this matter is settled, I’ll help you find someone to deal with them.”
The Sovereign of Rules, after a moment of silence, spoke.
“Alright.”
