Via was tied to a chair, unable to move her hands or feet at all.
She had been restrained by the two demonkin maids.
At this moment, the light shone directly on her face. Kurei and Melu standing in front of her looked exactly like two investigators interrogating a criminal.
This is bad.
“Human, speak! What have you done with the Demon King!”
Kurei grabbed Via’s cheeks and questioned her angrily, her face almost pressing against Via’s.
“Confess and we’ll be lenient. Resist and we’ll be harsh!!”
Via had no idea how to answer Kurei’s question. She really didn’t want to reveal the truth in front of her own subordinates.
After all, in the eyes of other demonkin, she was the young and promising Demon King with a majestic image.
Now that she had become like this… how could she possibly say it out loud!
“Oh? Your mouth is pretty stubborn. You really won’t say anything?”
Kurei snorted coldly. “Don’t think I don’t know. You’re the suspicious human I met back at the Demon King’s Castle ruins. I’ll never forget that pink hair of yours!”
Kurei raised her hand.
Via didn’t know what to say and could only throw out these words.
“You think I won’t dare? Then kill me.”
With her strength, she could easily twist this Diamond-rank human’s head off.
“Wait, Kurei.”
Melu grabbed Kurei’s hand and stopped her.
“What’s wrong, Melu? Why are you stopping me?” Kurei asked in confusion. “This person is probably impersonating the Demon King to deceive us. To dare profane the Demon King like this, we have no need to show her any mercy!”
“I just find it strange. How could a mere human impersonate him to this degree?” Melu examined Via from head to toe. “This human seems to know the Demon King even better than we do.”
“The Demon King hated humans the most. How could he have revealed so much information to a human?”
“Maybe she didn’t get it from him. Maybe she already knew it.”
Melu leaned close to Via’s ear and lowered her voice.
“Or rather… you are the Demon King?”
Upon hearing this, Via’s eyes widened, visibly shaken.
This is bad. Melu really figured it out.
“Melu, her expression changed completely!!” Kurei pointed at Via’s face.
“Just as I thought. You really are the Demon King!!”
“Wait, wait a minute!”
Desolate Fire appeared at this moment. The Demon King’s Legendary weapon floated in mid-air, circled once, and stopped in front of the two demonkin maids.
“It took so much effort for me to finally be awakened. If you kill the Demon King, without a master I’ll fall back into slumber again!”
“Desolate Fire is the Demon King’s demonic blade,” Melu stared at Desolate Fire. “I don’t really believe you would serve a human, but if you’re willing to acknowledge this human as your master, that means…”
“Demon King, at this point, there’s no need to keep hiding. Just be honest with them.” Desolate Fire urged.
“Mm…”
Although Via was extremely unwilling, she no longer had any choice.
She could only admit it.
“Kurei, Melu, Desolate Fire is indeed Demon King Ville’s weapon. The human you see before you… is me. I am Demon King Ville.”
Kurei and Melu were both rendered speechless.
This truth was far too dramatic.
“In the battle at the Demon King’s Castle eighteen years ago, I fought to the death with my arch-enemy Selina and we perished together. Perhaps it was fate playing tricks, but instead of going to hell, I was reborn as a human.” Via lowered her head as she spoke.
“In short, I recently regained the memories of my previous life, remembered the past, and went to the Demon King’s Castle ruins to retrieve the Demon King Armament.”
“The Demon King… was actually reborn as the humans he hated the most?”
Kurei clutched her head, finding it hard to accept for a moment.
Melu had more or less already guessed this in her heart.
However, hearing Via admit it personally still dealt a heavy blow.
It was simply too absurd!
“Melu, what do we do? Do we kill her or not?” Kurei was torn. “The Demon King taught us never to show mercy to any human, but if we kill her…”
“Kurei, come here!”
Melu grabbed Kurei and temporarily left the room, clearly intending to discuss it privately.
The room was left with only Via and Desolate Fire, trapped in an awkward atmosphere.
After a period of uncomfortable silence, Desolate Fire couldn’t hold back and burst out laughing.
“Hahaha, hahahaha, hahahahaha!!”
“Desolate Fire, don’t laugh!!”
Via’s face flushed bright red as she shouted. She really wanted to make this damn weapon shut up, but unfortunately she couldn’t move.
“Sorry, Demon King, this is just too funny,” Desolate Fire laughed uncontrollably. “The image you worked so hard to build has completely collapsed in front of your little fangirls! The Demon King they worshipped the most has turned into a soft, pink-haired girl!”
“I-I didn’t want this either!!” Via felt extremely wronged.
“Ah, Demon King, you might want to think of something. Otherwise, you might actually get killed by those two maids.”
“What can I do?”
Via also knew that once her identity was exposed like this, it was basically no different from death.
Demonkin believed in the law of the jungle.
The strong could humiliate the weak as they pleased.
She had only been able to establish the royal court back then because she was powerful enough. But right now, she was just a human who hadn’t even reached the Transcendent tier. She couldn’t beat these two maids at all.
She had no way to keep them in line.
Even Desolate Fire dared to tease her now.
In the past, would this demonic blade have ever dared to act so arrogantly?
“Why don’t you try playing the sympathy card?” Desolate Fire suggested.
“No. That’s what the weak do.”
Via refused.
She was the proud Demon King. She would never resort to such a pathetic move.
“Melu, this really does seem to be the Demon King who reincarnated. She knows about our past and can use both Desolate Fire and the Demon King Armament.”
Kurei was extremely conflicted.
These things couldn’t be faked by anyone else.
Melu nodded thoughtfully.
“So how should we handle this?” Kurei asked.
“The Demon King seems really weak right now.”
“Yeah, I feel like I could take her life with just a pinch.”
“That’s not what I meant.”
Melu fell silent for a moment before making a rather strange statement.
“It seems… right now, we can do whatever we want to the Demon King, and she won’t be able to resist at all.”
