‘Is he… growing?’ Mo Qingqing wondered as she stood silently in front of Su Yun.
It seemed that Su Yun’s soft, pale face had filled out quite a bit, like a steamed bun that had fermented significantly. She swallowed hard but ultimately managed to restrain herself. After all, she was also quite short on credits. She didn’t want Su Yun to get distracted tonight and cause them to lose money tomorrow.
In the end, she simply stared at him like a hungry wolf for a moment before heading to bed.
Early the next morning, Mo Qingqing woke Su Yun up. He quickly finished washing, changed into a clean set of mage robes, and followed her to the entrance of the academy.
A large crowd of low-tier mages had already gathered at the entrance, all preparing to enter the experience world. They wore various styles of robes and carried a wide array of magical tools, their expressions filled with excitement and anticipation.
Mo Qingqing helped Su Yun purchase a 5-cubic-meter safety bag and a one-way automatic extraction card, spending a total of 180 credits.
She then looked at Su Yun and spoke in a serious tone, “Remember what I told you yesterday. Just keep your head down and scavenge. Fight if you can, but if you can’t win, use Blood Escape to flee. Safety first. Don’t worry about me; I’ll be waiting for you in the library.”
“Okay, Master, I’ve got it!”
Su Yun nodded quickly, his eyes sparkling with an obedient and well-behaved look.
Internally, however, he was secretly calculating. With a cost of 180 credits, as long as his harvest today exceeded 900 credits, he would turn a profit. Given his strength, that shouldn’t be too difficult.
“Go on,” Mo Qingqing said, waving her hand.
Su Yun nodded and turned toward the entrance of the experience world. He felt both excited and nervous—excited to enter the experience world again to earn credits, but nervous about the possibility of exposing himself or being noticed by Mo Qingqing or others.
He took a deep breath and stepped through the entrance.
—
After a brief moment of dizziness, Su Yun arrived at a Plaza.
This was something that hadn’t existed before. The Plaza was surrounded by numerous portals. After thinking for a moment, Su Yun stepped into the portal leading to the Mist Forest.
The trees here were dense and blotted out the sun. Light filtered through the gaps in the leaves, casting patches of mottled shadows. The air was thick with the damp scent of earth and the fresh fragrance of vegetation. A light haze lingered in the air, resulting in very low visibility, which was how the Mist Forest had earned its name.
Following his plan from the previous day, Su Yun began his trek through the forest. He moved with cautious steps, his large, fluffy tail held close to his back and his ears pricked alertly, listening for any movement.
He used the concealment technique of Earth Magic to hide his presence. A faint, earthy-yellow glow shimmered around him, blending his form into the surroundings and making him very difficult to detect.
As he walked, he kept a close eye out for scattered resource points. There were many such points in the experience world, a fact Su Yun had only learned during dinner the night before. Abandoned transport wagons, decayed remains, nameless tombstones, and even bird nests or hollows in trees could contain items.
He used the automatic extraction card to pull out valuable loot one by one and pack them into his safety bag, not even letting trash go to waste.
As he continued, Su Yun suddenly heard the sound of footsteps. He stopped immediately and ducked behind a massive tree, alertly observing the area.
A Red-Name Mage wearing black robes emerged from the woods. He had a hideous scar on his face and a sinister gaze. He carried a black staff and appeared quite powerful, likely a mid-tier primary-stage mage.
Su Yun’s eyes brightened slightly as he began to calculate.
‘This Red-Name Mage is alone and isn’t exceptionally strong. This is the perfect opportunity to take him out and earn some credits.’
He decided to use the Potential Burst of Life Magic to enhance his strength, resolve the fight quickly, hide his tracks, and then continue his scavenging run.
Su Yun took a deep breath, slipped quietly from behind the tree, and rushed toward the Red-Name Mage. His speed was incredible, and with the boost from his concealment technique, the Red-Name Mage didn’t notice his presence at all.
Just as Su Yun closed the distance, the Red-Name Mage suddenly sensed something was wrong. He whirled around and spotted Su Yun. A look of surprise flashed across his face, which quickly morphed into a cruel grin.
“I didn’t think I’d find such a tender little morsel here!”
As he spoke, the Red-Name Mage raised his staff, preparing to cast a spell.
Su Yun was already prepared. He immediately channeled the mana within his body and activated the Potential Burst of Life Magic. A power equivalent to ten times the Human limit erupted instantly, multiplying his speed and strength.
He lunged at the Red-Name Mage like a bolt of lightning, raising his fist and slamming it violently into the man’s chest.
The Red-Name Mage had no time to react before the blow connected. The idea of letting an opponent finish their skill was something that only existed in movies.
With a muffled *thud*, the man coughed up a spray of blood, his eyes wide with disbelief.
Su Yun didn’t give him a chance to recover. He pressed the advantage immediately, raising his fist again and smashing it toward the man’s head. The Red-Name Mage tried to resist, but he found that his body wouldn’t obey; he could only watch helplessly as the fist descended.
With a *crack*, Su Yun crushed the Red-Name Mage’s head. The man’s body went limp and slumped to the ground, all signs of life extinguished.
Su Yun looked at the corpse and let out a sigh of relief. He quickly used the automatic extraction card to gather the loot: a green soul bead, an ordinary staff, and a few bottles of mana recovery potions.
He stuffed the items into his safety bag, reactivated his Earth Magic concealment, and continued his run through the Mist Forest.
Over the next few hours, Su Yun followed his plan, roaming through the forest. He encountered many lone Red-Name Mages, ranging from low-tier to mid-tier. Using his Potential Burst of Life Magic, he ended the battles quickly and amassed a large number of credits.
His combat style was unique. He didn’t stay at a distance to cast spells like a typical low-tier mage, nor did he possess the massive mana or flamboyant spells of a high-tier mage. His approach was direct and violent, with every strike aimed at vital points, making it impossible to defend against.
His speed and power, combined with his concealment, meant that very few Red-Name Mages could even sense him. He drifted through the Mist Forest like a ghost, taking down isolated enemies and immediately fleeing if he encountered targets that were too strong or groups he couldn’t kill in one strike.
His safety bag grew increasingly heavy, and his heart filled with joy.
Until…
He encountered a very strange mage.
The man had two beast ears, plucked from who-knows-where, stuck to the top of his head. A large, fluffy tail was also attached to his rear. The man radiated an eerily brimming life aura.
A transparent pendant hung from his neck, containing a well-preserved strand of pinkish-blue hair. Even the bag on his back was strange; it looked remarkably like a chibi version of Su Yun!
