Just as the girl had expected, that “woman” finally came tonight.
Not long after she had finished her shower and fallen asleep, Lin Xinyuan was awakened by pain.
She stayed in the bathroom for quite a while before walking out, looking drained.
Any trace of sleepiness was gone, and she could only lie on the bed, groaning softly as she rolled around in discomfort.
With how much noise she was making, Qin Nanfeng naturally couldn’t keep sleeping. He was already boiling water, preparing a cup of brown sugar water for her.
Although it didn’t have much real effect, it could at least warm her stomach and give her some sugar, which was better than nothing.
“Drink it,” Qin Nanfeng said after blowing on it to cool it slightly. Watching her in pain made him feel both distressed and a little amused.
“Mm… okay…”
Even though Lin Xinyuan didn’t want to move because of the pain, the cup was already in front of her. She slowly sat up, took it, and under his gaze, sipped it bit by bit until it was gone.
She still felt uncomfortable, but it was somewhat better. Maybe because Qin Nanfeng was right there with her, she even felt like the pain wasn’t as bad anymore.
It wasn’t until the latter half of the night that she finally eased up and, from exhaustion, fell into a deep sleep.
During that time, she had told Qin Nanfeng more than once to go rest, but he clearly refused, staying with her until nearly dawn.
To distract her, they even played a block game on their phones. Although she was still distracted, it helped a little.
Looking at the faint sweat still on her forehead, Qin Nanfeng soaked a towel in warm water and gently wiped her forehead and temples.
After finishing everything, he watched her—still occasionally frowning even in sleep—before carefully lying down. He pulled her into his arms and gently rubbed her soft belly with his large hand.
Only when her brows gradually relaxed did he finally fall asleep.
Over the next few days, because of Lin Xinyuan’s condition, they couldn’t go out and have fun. She could only rest properly in the hotel.
Once she recovered, Qin Nanfeng took her around Quancheng’s famous attractions. They ate, drank, and enjoyed themselves, which helped lift the gloomy mood she had from her period.
The only thing that made her uncomfortable was the spending. They had already spent quite a bit, and it made her heart ache.
Even though Qin Nanfeng paid most of the time, she still felt bad.
She had never suggested splitting the bill, but every time she thought about it, he refused anyway.
“Feng Ge… where are we going? Are we heading back?”
Early that morning, she had been woken up to pack and check out. Rubbing her sleepy eyes, she looked at Qin Nanfeng with confusion in her clear gaze.
“No. I’m taking you somewhere today, okay?” Qin Nanfeng reached out and rubbed her fluffy little head, smiling gently.
“Ah… where?”
“You’ll find out when we get there.”
Hearing such a vague answer, Lin Xinyuan felt suspicious, but she didn’t press further. She got up, washed, changed clothes, packed her things, and followed him downstairs to check out.
“Thanks, man.”
Outside the hotel, by the roadside next to a white car, Qin Nanfeng politely thanked a young man.
“No problem, Boss Qin, you’re too polite. I’ll get going then, goodbye!” The man looked very respectful. Then he glanced at the girl, a hint of admiration in his eyes, and smiled. “Goodbye, sister-in-law!”
Before Lin Xinyuan could react, he had already turned and left. The car had been delivered, so it was time for him to report back to his boss.
Qin Nanfeng put their luggage into the trunk, then walked over and pinched Lin Xinyuan’s dazed little face.
“Get in?”
“Oh… okay…”
She snapped out of it, followed him into the car, and sat in the front passenger seat. But as soon as she got in, she couldn’t help muttering, “Being rich is nice…”
Qin Nanfeng chuckled. He knew exactly what she meant—just one phone call and someone delivered a car. But he didn’t explain and simply started driving.
Quancheng was developing well, though it was still far behind Tianbei City. However, its rich history gave it a distinct cultural charm.
Along the way, Lin Xinyuan curiously watched the tall buildings pass by, her interest undiminished.
Even after several days in the city, she was still very curious about Feng Ge’s hometown. She wanted to see traces of his childhood.
But she was also a little afraid to go. That would mean meeting his elders, and she wasn’t ready for that yet.
At this moment, she was especially puzzled about where Qin Nanfeng was taking her.
Could he be selling her?
…No… what was she thinking…
There was no way Feng Ge was that kind of person!
No matter what, she was definitely curious about this mysterious destination.
As the bustling streets gradually faded, they were replaced by more rustic town buildings.
Compared to the high-rises, this place looked quite old. Aside from a few modern apartment buildings, most structures still carried the feel of the last century.
Qin Nanfeng parked near a local market and took her inside to buy fruits and ingredients. He even skillfully bargained with the vendors.
Only then did Lin Xinyuan realize he had this side to him—but thinking about it, it wasn’t surprising.
Her Feng Ge had always been down-to-earth.
“You can cook?” she asked as they walked out of the market.
Seeing her surprised expression, Qin Nanfeng raised an eyebrow. “What? You don’t believe me?”
“I’m just curious…”
“So you don’t believe me?”
“Think whatever you want… hmph…”
Seeing her turn her head away and huff, Qin Nanfeng shrugged. “Don’t worry. You’ll get a chance to see it soon. I’ll prove it to you.”
“Hmph…”
After putting the bags into the car, they continued along the road.
Finally, the car stopped in front of a slightly old yet renovated three-story house with a courtyard.
“Where is this?”
Looking at the house, Lin Xinyuan didn’t find anything strange about it itself. Her own hometown had plenty like it. What puzzled her was why he brought her here.
Quancheng was his hometown… an old house… buying groceries…
Almost instantly, she seemed to realize something. Her expression changed, and her face flushed red.
He didn’t bring her to his family home, did he?
Ah… she should have realized earlier…
Thinking back to his earlier mysterious words, she became even more certain. She even took a small step back unconsciously.
Seeing her reaction, Qin Nanfeng knew she had figured it out. He took her hand.
“Yeah… it’s what you think. I brought you to meet my grandfather.”
“Isn’t… isn’t this too soon…?”
Lin Xinyuan felt at a loss and shook her head lightly.
Being brought to meet his family—especially going straight to the older generation—made her feel completely unprepared.
“Too soon? I’ve already met your family. Shouldn’t you meet mine too? It’s going to happen sooner or later.”
Qin Nanfeng gently squeezed her sweaty palm, still smiling.
“You were the one who shamelessly followed me home…” she retorted instinctively, then immediately felt guilty.
“Are you sure? Want me to remind you what you said back then?”
He leaned close to her ear and whispered, “Or do you want to carefully recall what we did before… and still say it’s too early?”
Her face instantly turned red with embarrassment. Then, hearing what he implied, she trembled and started stammering.
“I… didn’t… I…”
But just as they stood close together, almost like a couple being affectionate, sudden footsteps approached…
