The following morning.
After Rosily sat down in the carriage, she reached out to pull back the window curtain and waved to Enya, who was standing at the entrance.
Enya waved back.
Crack!
The whip snapped in the air, and the carriage slowly began to move.
The scenery outside started to shift, and Rosily didn’t look away until Enya was completely out of sight.
Then, she turned her gaze toward the seat across from her.
Estelle was sitting upright as usual, her eyes closed as she cultivated her Magic Power.
‘She’s really not slacking for even a second…’
Rosily thought to herself, pouting slightly with a hint of irritation. The harder Estelle worked, the harder Rosily had to work to keep up.
Otherwise, the small gap that originally existed between them would widen, and her easygoing, leisurely life would vanish in an instant!
Of course, she was only complaining.
Rosily looked down at her legs. Her creamy-white stockings were tight, and her legs felt particularly smooth when they rubbed together, though they had a slightly matte texture when touched. These were her white silk stockings.
The Crimson Academy uniforms were distributed uniformly.
They were similar to their previous ones: a dark red top paired with a black skirt, along with these novel stockings.
Originally, stockings weren’t a mandatory part of the attire. Although there was still no strict regulation requiring them, everyone wore them anyway. Rosily had put them on at Siya’s request.
Rosily reached out to pinch the fabric, squinting her orange-red eyes as she examined the fine threads. She couldn’t help but feel puzzled.
“Is this really made from Slimes?”
Elqi had told her that these things were actually made from Slimes. Through a special processing method, the original Slime secretions were turned into tough, fine filaments and finally woven into these stockings.
She had claimed that the person who invented this was a total genius!
Elqi also mentioned that it wasn’t just these stockings; Slime products were being widely used for many daily necessities. Apparently, the Zephyr Empire already had a mature Slime farming industry.
She heard that Red Pine City planned to start farming them as well.
Rosily didn’t have much interest in the matter; after all, it didn’t really affect her.
When she let go, the stockings made a *snap* as they snapped back against her skin. Exhaling softly, Rosily whispered to herself.
“It feels a bit…”
She reached into her skirt to adjust the garter belt, lowering the top of the stocking slightly. It had been squeezing Rosily’s thigh until it hurt.
‘It didn’t feel this tight before. Could it be… I’m growing?’
Rosily thought about it and felt it was quite likely. However, her gaze happened to land on Estelle’s legs, and her eyes narrowed.
She reached out and grabbed her sister’s ankle. The moment she did, Rosily was startled. Estelle actually seemed a bit slimmer than her…
‘Am I the one who needs to lose weight?!’
Even though Rosily had grabbed her leg, Estelle remained motionless.
She kept her eyes closed and continued to quietly cultivate her Magic Power as if Rosily didn’t exist and her ankle wasn’t being held by her younger sister.
“Um… Sister…”
Rosily looked up at Estelle’s face. Looking at that exquisite, beautiful face and those slowly opening pale gold eyes, Estelle slightly bowed her head to look at Rosily, who was still holding her ankle. She tilted her head to the right and spoke.
“Is something the matter?”
Her voice was very cold.
Rosily let go and sat up straight, a bright, radiant smile appearing on her face.
Estelle: “…”
Finding it somewhat nonsensical, Estelle prepared to close her eyes again. She wanted to use the time before they reached the Academy to condense her Origin Magic Power.
Seeing this, Rosily couldn’t help but pout.
She got up and sat next to Estelle, leaning in to carefully study her sister’s face. Although their facial features were very similar, the temperaments they carried were worlds apart.
Rosily was the type who loved to laugh and talk, while Estelle was always icy. Even with the same face, they felt different. Furthermore, they weren’t completely identical.
‘They’re probably… 95% the same?’ Rosily’s eyebrows were clearly softer, while Estelle’s were sharper and more aggressive.
As she studied her sister’s face, Rosily thought to herself.
If Elqi hadn’t asked her, it might have taken her a long time to realize how much she and Estelle resembled each other.
But what about Estelle?
She was a total cultivation maniac.
When she wasn’t cultivating Magic Power, she was practicing her swordplay.
Someone like that usually had poor self-awareness; she probably didn’t even have much of a concept of what she looked like.
‘Does Estelle know that we might actually be related by blood?’
Doubts filled Rosily’s heart, but she didn’t ask Estelle directly.
While she was staring at Estelle in a daze, Estelle opened her eyes again.
When she looked at the sister beside her, her eyes were filled with confusion, unable to understand Rosily’s behavior.
Rosily gave her a sweet smile and then pulled her head back slightly. However, she didn’t return to the opposite seat. Staying by Estelle’s side, she thought for a moment and said, “Sister, I know a fun place.”
A question mark practically popped up over Estelle’s head.
What was she trying to do?
The corners of Rosily’s mouth curled up.
She reached out and unlocked the carriage door. As the door opened while the carriage was in motion, a gust of wind blew in, accompanied by the morning sun.
Their pale gold, shoulder-length hair danced wildly in the wind, and Estelle’s silver hair was even more chaotic. Just as she was about to reach up to tidy her hair, her hand was intercepted by Rosily’s.
Rosily pulled Estelle and chuckled.
“Let’s go.”
With that, she dragged Estelle and jumped out of the carriage!
Although the coachman was already slowing down, a normal person jumping out at this speed would definitely get injured—they might even fall to their death if they weren’t careful.
But the two sisters were clearly not normal people. They regained their balance almost instantly in the air and landed elegantly on the ground.
To get from their home to the Crimson Academy, they had to pass through a bustling area that could be called the economic center of Red Pine City. The carriage stopped a short distance away, and Rosily shouted to the coachman.
“We’re walking the rest of the way today!”
Beside her, Estelle looked down at her tightly held hand, then followed the arm up to meet Rosily’s eyes. Rosily was looking back at her with an unreserved, sincere smile.
“Someone took me there before, and I thought it tasted pretty good. It’s not as good as Mom’s cooking, but I want you to try it too.”
As Rosily spoke, she started running while pulling Estelle along.
The sight of the two of them jumping from a moving carriage was already shocking enough, let alone how steadily they had landed.
Combined with their extraordinary beauty and temperament, they instantly became the focus of everyone’s attention.
Passersby wondered which noble family these young ladies belonged to.
Some people even prepared to step forward to strike up a conversation.
However, Rosily was focused only on her own plans.
Pulling Estelle forward, she made a series of agile turns to dodge anyone blocking the path, bypassing them with lightning speed and leaving the onlookers staring at their receding figures.
“Whoa, that girl is fast!”
That shadow-like speed was clearly not something an ordinary person could achieve.
The two girls wove through the streets like that.
Enya moved the Magic Tool she had made out of the house and onto a hired carriage. Then, she climbed in as the carriage slowly headed north.
After a while, the old coachman called out, “Madam Phil, the refugee camp is up ahead.”
“I know,” Enya replied flatly.
The old coachman wanted to look back, but he suppressed the urge and continued driving the carriage along the dirt road.
Because so many carriages carrying heavy goods had traveled this road recently, it was no longer as smooth as it once was.
“Madam Phil, the road is a bit bumpy. Please hold on.”
“Mhm.”
Enya gazed at the scenery along the road.
The leisurely, beautiful views were gone.
The green grass was now covered with tents and some ugly-looking wooden houses, along with piles of various construction materials and waste.
Thin figures were working hard. Whether they were elderly, children, or women, everyone was busy with the tasks at hand.
They were performing repetitive, simple actions.
Enya remembered that in Henna’s plan, there were originally no intentions to have women and children work. It was Henna’s teacher who had reminded her.
The mental state of these refugees was fragile; they couldn’t understand the kindness being shown to them and might even feel that the Lord had no use for the old, the young, or the women.
Only by giving them work could they truly feel at ease.
Enya swept her gaze over these people.
She didn’t feel much. Several years ago, she might have had some thoughts, but after seeing so much, she no longer had that youthful sentimentality.
“Sigh…”
“Do you also dislike these refugees, Madam Phil?”
The old coachman heard her sigh and asked tentatively.
Enya chuckled and asked, “What makes you think that?”
“Well… I…”
For a moment, the old coachman didn’t know what to say, feeling he had spoken out of turn.
However, Enya told him not to worry and to just chat to pass the time.
The locals generally didn’t welcome the refugees.
As for the nobles, they felt the Lord was desecrating their sacred status by giving such a good area in the north to these stinking commoners. It was simply a waste of good land!
For the local commoners, the North City Great Development was supposed to be their business. The new Lord, Yelena, had extremely good policies for the refugees.
As long as one worked in the North City Development Team for one year, they would receive local residency in Red Pine City.
In the future, housing would be allocated to them.
Most importantly, they were provided with meat and soup every day.
They were actually fed until they were full—it wasn’t just some rotten potatoes to deal with.
And they were paid!
They were actually paid!
Getting paid to work for the Lord?
How could such a good thing exist in this world? It was truly something they had never seen in their lives!!
Some local commoners felt that these benefits should have been theirs.
Why did the refugees have priority for work while locals had to pull strings just to join the North City Development Team?
Was that fair? Not at all!
Naturally, many people grumbled.
However, they didn’t dare speak ill of the new Lord, Yelena. They could only direct their attacks at these people of the same social class.
