“White Night, don’t mess around here if you don’t understand what you’re doing! Do you have any idea how much of a nuisance you’re being!”
“Stop scolding me! Stop it! I get it already!”
“You get it, but you still dare to do it? Are you trying to kill me early?!”
In this world, the only person who would dare to boss White Night around so rudely was likely this woman.
When it came to her field of expertise, Monice wouldn’t hesitate to give even a deity a piece of her mind, let alone White Night.
As a rare Research-type Magical Girl, Monice possessed a level of persistence and pride that even White Night couldn’t sway.
Besides, she knew full well what kind of temperament this Legendary Magical Girl had.
White Night wouldn’t take these ordinary verbal spats to heart; at most, she would look for an opportunity to get her revenge later.
As for White Night, if you said she was big-hearted, it was true—she never held a grudge.
But if you said she was petty, that was also true.
She could remember small things forever, holding onto them until she finally found a chance to retaliate.
To put it simply, she was serious about major matters but never forgot the minor ones.
She possessed a young girl’s willful streak combined with the aura of a great Mentor.
Traits that should have been in conflict somehow seemed perfectly harmonious on her.
“You’re already a mother of two children. Can’t you be a bit more steady?”
“What does that matter? I’m forever seventeen!” White Night puffed out her chest proudly. There was actually nothing wrong with her statement.
The concept of aging didn’t really exist for Magical Girls. Their time was frozen at their most beautiful age, never moving forward again. She wasn’t lying when she said she was forever seventeen.
Some Magical Girls were even forever thirteen or fourteen… though those girls usually found ways to make themselves look a bit older.
“Try to act like a Mentor for once. Also, don’t you have anything better to do? Why are you over here annoying me?” Monice rolled her eyes and asked helplessly.
This was the Headquarters of Eternal Night—an Evil Organization’s base!
What was a Magical Girl like her doing here? Was she here to challenge a supervillain like her? Moreover, Monice was currently conducting super-evil human experiments. Was this something a Magical Girl should be watching?
“Of course I have nothing to do. There’s nothing left for me to handle personally. If I have to say, the only thing I’m worried about are these sisters.” White Night shrugged and pointed at Anxing, who was being examined by Monice inside a transparent glass chamber.
Before the final battle, the Holy Sovereign had packed up and sent the Monster Girls from the Otherworld over.
The Magical Girls felt very conflicted about these Monster Girls, who looked exactly like their former comrades.
They looked the same and had the same personalities, but their memories were different. The Magical Girls didn’t know how to treat these strange yet familiar comrades.
Monice was different.
She never had such a thing as comrades in the past.
The closest things she had to comrades were White Night and the Holy Sovereign, and neither of them were dead. Thus, she relied on trickery and deception to lure a few Monster Girls back to Eternal Night to begin studying their physical structures.
Between researching Monster Girls and pondering Space Modification for Luo Xiangyue, Monice’s days had been incredibly fulfilling.
Consequently, although the Boss of Eternal Night had returned, it felt as if she hadn’t.
Jiu Ye was still the one carrying the heavy burden of leadership.
It made the kitty, who had looked forward to the Bosses’ return with all her heart, want to scream in frustration.
Monice was obsessed with research, while Luo Shuangyue had an ‘I’ve fought for a lifetime, can’t I enjoy myself a little’ attitude, hanging around with the Magical Girls all day and acting quite improperly.
This meant all those troublesome matters still fell on Jiu Ye to handle.
…But those were matters for later. One could believe the kitty was more than happy to contribute her strength to Eternal Night, which she regarded as her second home.
“Don’t think I don’t know what you’re thinking. I can only tell you that it’s impossible for them to recover their memories,” Monice said bluntly, not holding back at all.
White Night might look lighthearted, but deep down, she was more sentimental than anyone.
She had come here specifically to see if there was a way to restore these sisters’ memories.
But it was impossible. Monice could guarantee it.
“Souls are mysterious, and memories even more so. I assume the Magic Department has already had the Soul Summoner Princess try, haven’t they?” Monice didn’t believe the Magic Department hadn’t attempted to restore the Monster Girls’ past memories.
Naturally, such matters were best handled by the Soul Summoner Princess. Among all the Magical Girls, she was the one with the deepest understanding of the soul.
“There’s been no news so far, so the results on her end must not be good.”
“That’s right. Bifang said their souls are complete. The forgetting we imagined doesn’t exist.” White Night fell silent for a moment and sighed.
If their memory loss was truly due to fragmented souls, the hope of recovery might be slim, but at least everyone would have a direction to work in.
But that wasn’t the case. The Monster Girls’ souls were whole. They were new lives.
To put it in simpler terms, they were the reincarnations of those deceased Magical Girls.
“Do you really want to annihilate their current consciousness and turn them into puppets with those other people’s memories?” Monice chuckled. “I doubt you’d dare to do such a thing.”
How could Magical Girls ever commit such an evil act?
If they actually dared to do that, Monice’s Cyborg Plan would have been widely accepted long ago. She wouldn’t have had to wait until the recent state of emergency for it to be approved.
“If it comes down to it, we’ll just take care of them. The Magic Department isn’t lacking the resources to feed a few more mouths,” White Night said, rubbing her temples and sighing softly.
Although she had been mentally prepared, knowing the truth still made her feel somewhat uncomfortable.
“It’s best to ask for their own opinions. You can’t just keep them like rare animals in a zoo. I plan to let these few girls here join Eternal Night…” Monice’s lips curved upward, indicating she had already decided how to handle the Monster Girls she had abducted.
“Huh?”
“What are you ‘huh’-ing for? These are all your daughter’s friends. What’s wrong with them joining Eternal Night?”
There were three Monster Girls Monice had brought to Eternal Night: Anxing, who was Magic Emperor Class, and Zheng and Xiaozi, who were both Demon King Class.
Once they learned that Eternal Night was the organization Luo Xiangyue belonged to, they had followed Monice here without the slightest hesitation.
Compared to those Magical Girls who looked familiar but were strangers, they felt more comfortable trusting Luo Xiangyue.
Just then, Anxing, having finished her daily physical examination, walked out of the testing room fully dressed. She happened to overhear the last part of Monice’s sentence.
“Yes. I think following Monice is better. Perhaps those girls really are the good friends I knew in the past, but the current me is who I am now. I don’t want to be treated as a replacement for the old me.”
Anxing explained her stance to White Night.
