Faced with Lillian’s questioning, Qiangwei’s tail shook like a sieve due to the fear coursing through her.
She originally intended to make up a random excuse.
However, before the words could leave her mouth, she noticed a hint of displeasure flickering in Lillian’s eyes.
It was obvious that if she could not provide a satisfactory answer, she might be eliminated as an unstable element.
“I had no choice but to return to the tribe on my own!”
“No choice? It seems you have a very good reason. If it isn’t something important…”
Lillian’s fingertips tapped lightly on the tabletop.
The rhythmic sound caused the pressure in the room to multiply.
At this point, Qiangwei couldn’t worry about anything else. she had to throw out some useful information to fool her way through.
“A Central Nun stationed at the Church seems to have seen through your plan, Master!”
“Most of the Succubi lurking in the city have been rooted out. This subordinate risked her life to come and report!”
Lillian had been looking at the open documents on the desk, thinking about how to deal with this girl.
However, after hearing those words, she stood up abruptly, her eyes filled with shock.
“You’re saying my plan was noticed by that Central Nun?”
“Precisely. Although there is no evidence, the other party is definitely preparing something!”
Upon hearing Qiangwei’s words, Lillian immediately checked the connection between herself and the Succubi in the city.
However, what she found was alarming; almost all the eyes and ears she had dispatched had lost contact.
Out of the dozens of Succubi she had sent to lie in wait, only the one standing before her remained.
Once Lillian sensed this, she could no longer remain calm.
She was certain she had carried out the operation in complete secrecy.
She had even given strict instructions to the Succubi sent out as scouts.
They had learned the language of the Holy See, their laws, and even their lifestyle habits.
And yet, they had all been uprooted so easily.
Even the one before her had only barely returned with her life.
Lillian had planned to keep a low profile to avoid letting the Holy See realize how dangerous she was.
She had intended to devour as much territory as possible and gain a deeper understanding of the Holy See before attracting the attention of the high-level Order Powerhouses.
That was the only way to ensure her own progress.
Now, she had only just occupied one city, and before she could even make her next move, her plan had been seen through.
This immediately sparked Lillian’s curiosity regarding the identity of that Central Nun.
“What is the identity of that Central Nun? How could she know that the next city I intended to attack was that one?”
‘I clearly shrouded the entire Land of Desire in mist…’
There were four cities adjacent to the Land of Desire.
The other three were small, peripheral cities.
Based on terrain and distance from the Land of Desire, they should have been the primary targets.
Lillian had bypassed those three peripheral cities and chosen the strongest, most fortified city with the most powerful blessing—the city known as Twilight City.
She chose it because, in everyone’s eyes, Twilight City was the hardest to capture.
Not only was the terrain steep, but it also had a Central Nun stationed there.
Lillian believed this made it the most logical choice.
When a city appeared difficult to defend and even harder to attack, most people would not choose to bite such a hard bone.
The enemy would think this, and the defenders would think the same.
Because everyone assumed the focus would be on the three cities other than Twilight City, those cities would certainly have more defensive troops.
Lillian had banked on this point, but now, her plan had been detected by that Central Nun before it could even be implemented.
Lillian bit her thumb.
Even as blood flowed, she could not figure it out.
‘How did she see through it?’
She had hidden her entire Succubus army beneath the mist and had even sent some Succubi to wander near the borders of the other three cities.
Her disguise should have been flawless.
Yet, it was seen through at a glance by a Central Nun of unknown identity.
Lillian’s cold eyes slowly fixed on the Succubus kneeling before her.
Suddenly, a powerful sense of pressure enveloped Qiangwei’s body.
“How were you able to return alive?”
The question was back on her, and although Qiangwei was incredibly nervous, she reacted instantly.
She knew Lillian suspected her of betrayal and rushed to explain.
“That Central Nun’s methods are extremely cruel! This subordinate suffered through endless torture before narrowly escaping!”
“Suffered through torture? You look perfectly fine to me…”
Lillian did not hide the suspicion in her eyes.
The Succubus before her had no visible injuries, and even her clothes were not damaged.
She couldn’t see any signs of abuse at all.
Seeing Lillian’s skeptical gaze, Qiangwei hurriedly defended herself.
“That Central Nun’s methods are truly horrific! That’s why she focused all her torture on my most sensitive area!”
“Most sensitive?”
A flash of confusion crossed Lillian’s eyes, but then she noticed the girl’s limp tail.
She was stunned for a moment before realizing what Qiangwei meant.
“She not only bit and stepped on my most vulnerable spot, but she also insulted me with her words! I… I only managed to escape when she wasn’t paying attention!”
“Hiss… hearing you put it that way, the methods really are a bit cruel…”
Seeing the girl’s aggrieved expression, Lillian found herself unable to scold her.
In the end, she simply let out a helpless sigh and leaned back in her chair.
“In that case, you’ve really suffered…”
“To be able to escape from a powerhouse of that level, you truly are lucky.”
Hearing those words, Qiangwei immediately realized that Lillian believed her story.
She let out a sigh of relief.
Lillian didn’t have much reason to doubt her explanation.
Even though Lillian was an unusual Succubus, the members of her race around her had never had anything but desire in their heads.
Therefore, Lillian never considered that she might be deceived by one of her own kind.
“It seems I misunderstood you. Just now, I thought you had come back secretly because you couldn’t take the loneliness anymore…”
“I didn’t expect you to have gone through such an ordeal. Go down and rest for now. I will call for you if I have more questions.”
Lillian slowly waved her hand.
Qiangwei maintained her aggrieved act as she scurried out.
Only then did Lillian feel something was slightly off, though she couldn’t put her finger on it.
When she first entered, she had clearly seen the Succubus seemingly flipping through the documents on her desk.
A thought suddenly popped into her head, but as soon as it appeared, Lillian shook her head and dismissed it.
‘No, I must be overthinking. How could one of my kin be interested in something that has nothing to do with desire?’

As soon as the door closed behind her, Qiangwei shed her cowardly appearance.
Looking at the crystal in her hand, a wicked smile played on her lips.
“Mission accomplished~”
Walking through the streets of Mocheng, she listened to the sounds of vendors calling out.
After finishing her task, Qiangwei was in no hurry to leave.
Instead, she glanced toward a spot not far away where a Church had once stood.
That place had now completely devolved into a Pleasure Street where the Succubi vented their desires.
Qiangwei looked at the crystal in her hand and then at the gates in the distance.
When her gaze landed on the Succubus Pleasure Street, the tail behind her seemed to reminisce about the sensation of being stepped on by a small foot wrapped in black silk.
Just imagining it made her little tail twitch with excitement again.
‘I remember there should be captured ordinary Nuns in Pleasure Street too~’
‘Well, since I’m already here~’
Qiangwei felt her pockets and found dozens of remaining Gold Coin Vouchers from the Holy See.
After all, carrying ordinary gold coins was inconvenient, and Gold Coin Vouchers with the power of blessing were equivalent to a large amount of gold.
“This should be enough to buy an ordinary Nun…”
