While chaos broke out at the First Guild’s base, something big was happening at the Third Guild as well.
Since the three major guilds were recruiting, some restless individuals naturally went there to cause trouble.
Some people couldn’t stand it after challenging three instructors, calling it unfair and making a scene.
But one person had already defeated thirty instructors in a row, leaving almost every instructor of the Adventurers Guild lying on the ground, acting incredibly arrogant.
*Whoosh— whoosh— whoosh—*
The night wind howled as sword light and shadows suddenly stopped.
On the training grounds of the Third Guild, [Songs of the Earth], thirty instructors lay scattered about. Only a single, slender figure stood tall. The girl swordsman had messy, grayish-white hair and wore a faded gray cloak. She held a steel sword bought from a roadside stall, yet she had challenged thirty generals of the Third Guild, and none could rival her.
She didn’t speak a single word the entire time, using her exquisite Gale Sword Skill to prove herself. She used true strength to silence everyone rather than words. Finally, she forced the hidden figure of the Third Guild to appear.
*Clatter— bang— clatter—*
The magic streetlamps in the guild flickered rhythmically. When they returned to normal, an elegant silhouette appeared before the gray-cloaked girl.
The newcomer wore a black dress and had deep-purple hair. Her eyes were covered with a black cloth, and she held a Black Wood Soft Sword. Only a single red thread hanging from the hilt was particularly striking.
No wonder those two katana users across the way hate this so much; it turns out this side has a soft sword user.
The Hero is doomed! Wait, no, the soft sword user is also a Hero, so never mind.
She was the recognized strongest Guild Champion and dueling king, [St. Cresia].
Seeing this elegant appearance and the blindfold made the girl Hero think of someone she didn’t want to remember; they were quite similar.
This girl Hero was no small figure. She was the fifth Hero selected by the Royal City’s national academy, [Aigoas, Hero of the Storm].
Originally, the southern adventurer circles were skeptical of this Hero of the Storm, thinking she was just a weakling playing house in the Royal City. But seeing her today, everyone realized she was the one who looked most like a Hero among the five.
The others felt a bit subtle. Two of them didn’t even look human. Look at St. Cresia; if someone said she was a Soul King, one would believe it, but she really didn’t look like a Hero. And then there was the Hero of the Shield, Selina—was she a rich second-generation brat brought in to make up the numbers? She looked like a Level 5 trash newbie.
Only the Hero of the Storm fit the legendary image of a Hero in both temperament and appearance. She was low-key, powerful, serious, worked hard, and spoke little. She had the air of a reliable leader.
Then…
Aigoas was defeated by St. Cresia in a single move.
*Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!*
Aigoas performed her flashy Afterimage Clone Technique. Instantly, the field was filled with her moving shadows. However, Cresia found her true body at a glance. She leapt forward and struck with her sword.
Aigoas felt her heart go cold. Until now, no one had been able to crack her Afterimage Clone Technique or find her real body.
She raised her sword to block, but found Cresia’s weapon incredibly strange. The blade vibrated at high speed and could even turn at a ninety-degree angle, bypassing her defense.
*Smack!*
Finally, Aigoas was struck on the cheek by the curved soft sword. It felt like being slapped, and she was knocked to the ground. When she looked up, Cresia had already sheathed her sword and stood silently before her, like a silent mountain pressing down on her.
Cresia spoke as if she had just swatted a fly, calmly asking, “Do you feel the gap? Join our guild, and I can teach you.”
Aigoas stood up slowly and remained silent. But a loss was a loss, so she could only nod.
The members of the Third Guild cheered, feeling they had struck gold.
With the Hero of the Storm joining, the Third Guild was like a tiger with wings! Moreover, the Hero of the Storm brought a mysterious mage teammate. They were getting stronger everywhere.
The Sword of the Hero was as good as theirs.
However, Aigoas wasn’t happy for long.
She looked up at the night sky obscured by the guild’s name, her heart filled with melancholy. Her ego had long been crushed by the legends of the Demon-Hunting Nun.
The Demon-Hunting Nun once had an epic battle with a certain Kun. Although she didn’t win either, she certainly wasn’t one-shotted.
That world-shaking battle had been sensationalized by storytellers. It was a story everyone in the Royal City enjoyed, even more exciting than the final blow in the Demon-Hunting Nun legend.
‘Am I reading a power fantasy within a power fantasy? Why would I have such a thought?’
The two who respected each other started as rivals, then became friends through fighting, and finally joined forces against an unjust world… could there be a more… *cough*… hot-blooded story than this?
One could say that currently, [Holy Knight Second Captain, Black Hoof Cathedral Kun, Ophika] was the second biggest star in the Royal City after the Demon-Hunting Nun.
Samimi had already become a Cardinal, a person below one but above ten thousand, while she was just a Hero in name only. That was why she came south.
The Sword of the Hero was a golden opportunity. As long as she got it, she could bring glory to her ancestors and rival Samimi’s achievements. But now… before she even started, she had already failed and become another Hero’s subordinate.
‘Is this it? How can I ever surpass Samimi?’
“Aigoas, let’s rest for a bit,” the mysterious cloaked girl mage said coldly as she walked to her side.
“You mages have it so good. You don’t have pressure like I do,” Aigoas said despondently. “I’m being crushed by the legend of the Demon-Hunting Nun.”
Hearing this, the mysterious mage immediately remembered being chased like a dog by that “bug,” and her magic bag being infinitely suppressed. Her whole person had been kicked into hell. How could this person say she had no pressure?
“Hmph!” The mage couldn’t contain her anger and sent a kick straight toward Aigoas’s backside.
“Ouch! What are you doing?” the Hero of the Storm cried out.
“The hell I’ve seen is 100 times more intense than yours! People are already going easy on you, yet you’re here being dramatic. You can wallow in your self-pity for the rest of your life. It’s disgusting.” The mysterious mage cursed and walked away in a huff.
“…” Aigoas scratched her head in confusion, not knowing what she had done wrong.
—
Meanwhile, Samimi and Niubao were sneaking back to the weapon workshop of the Dawn Guild. The outside was also in an uproar because news of the girl pastoralist and the merchant nun had spread here.
Yongke of the Divine Sword and the Hero of the Shield, Selina, were like two stressed-out monkeys, desperately trying to find Samimi and the others. They searched the entire Camp No. 20, not realizing the targets were hiding in their own home.
Samimi sat on the sofa meditating, Niubao was sleeping soundly on the opposite sofa, and the girl pharmacist was staying up late researching. No wonder this girl looked sickly; she was so young yet stayed up all night every day.
Early the next morning, as everyone was having breakfast, Samimi noticed that Niubao was actually in a bad mood. Usually, she ate two big bowls, but today she only ate one.
“What’s wrong, Niubao? Are you sick?” Samimi asked.
“Hmph!” Niubao snorted coldly and didn’t speak.
“…” Samimi scratched her head. This was the first time the cow had given her the cold shoulder. It was quite a novel experience.
Although the Beastman Nun was like a god of death to others, she couldn’t act tough in front of Samimi at all; she was like a little sister.
“Master Priest, can you let me finish a fight before talking next time? I don’t like fighting half-baked battles. If you want to do that, do it yourself,” Niubao protested.
“Fine, this girl priest promises not to do that again. Niubaobao having her own personality is a good thing,” Samimi agreed.
“Don’t go back on your word.” Niubao’s stomach growled, and she continued eating.
“I’m full. Enjoy your meal. Goodnight.” The girl pharmacist finished her breakfast half-asleep and went to sleep.
“Saying goodnight as soon as the sun comes up… can this fellow live past thirty?” Samimi grumbled.
After breakfast, Samimi took Niubao and left the weapon workshop, preparing to plague the other adventurers guilds.
“Stop right there!” Someone was lurking by the back door of the weapon workshop.
“It’s you?” Samimi paused; she had a headache just hearing that voice.
The blonde villainess Hero, holding a high-tech deep-purple shield, stepped out from the shadows and blocked the secret back exit of the Second Guild.
“How did you find us?” Samimi asked.
“You’re hiding in my house, and you’re asking me how I found you?” Selina said coldly. “Last night, my pig-headed brother searched the entire Camp No. 20 and couldn’t find you. I figured you might be hiding here, and I was right.”
“You’re so smart!” Samimi smiled.
“Don’t change the subject. What exactly are you doing?” Selina questioned.
“We’ve been commissioned by Miss Meihua. We’re allies of the Dawn Guild and are on a secret mission. Please move aside, Miss. Don’t let us miss the opportunity,” Samimi bluffed.
“What secret mission?” Selina was stunned and actually believed it.
Thinking about it, those two did go to the First Guild to cause trouble yesterday. Could this be so-called guild espionage?
“I told you it’s a secret. Even if you’re the eldest miss, we have no right to disclose mission info. If you want to know, go ask Miss Meihua. Please make way.” Samimi went up and pushed Selina aside, her gaze firm, leaving the girl speechless.
With just a few words, the Hero of the Shield was fooled, and Samimi and Niubao successfully left the Second Guild.
Today, their target for chaos was the Third Guild, [Songs of the Earth].
